Chef Kwan's, formerly Su Hong To Go, is a Menlo Park institution. I have been going for many years in both iterations. It's no fuss, straight forward, and fast. There are a few tables inside and outside in case you wanted to enjoy something on site. I would say the tables work best for the lunch specials that come in a single sectioned clamshell. The lunch specials are great-- choice of entree served with a Spring Roll, Vegetable Chow Mein, BBQ Pork Fried Rice or Steamed Rice. The portions are so generous I set aside half of it for lunch the next day. For a dinner spread, my party's order is any mix of the following: Combination Chow Mein, General's Chicken, Mu Shu Chicken, Walnut Prawns, Steamed and BBQ Pork Fried Rice, Spring Rolls, Pot Stickers and Cheese Won Tons. Occasionally there will be an off night. Sometimes a sauce is missing, sometimes the General's Chicken isn't as spicy as it should be considering the dish is labelled "hot" on the menu, sometimes the Chow Mein sauce is so savory and delicious and sometimes it's lacking. Given the volume of orders they produce, it really doesn't surprise me, so I don't let it keep me from being a returning customer.

This is not the Su Hong restaurant any more folks!Don't waste your money here even if you have it to waste. This is average to below average food except for those who are taste disabled. Maybe a good punishment for a deserving person. My first and last visit to Chef Kwans found their food not at all delicious but simply edible, if you are really hungry. What a disappointment! Only two "dinner special" items where available. No rice with the entres. A big horse fly was busy between supervising the cooks and zestfully greeting patrons. Strangely there was not a delicious aroma emitting from the semi busy kitchen like good restaurants do. Papasoon thinks he is just the cat's pajamas exerting the "I'm so great attitude" for no apparent reason.I did not like my tasteless chicken chow mein. My friend ordered the chow mein and Mongolian beef which based on her facial expressions were not good. Never again?

The best Chinese food! I've been coming here forever. The Chinese Chick Salad is one of my go to's. So is the Chick Chow Mein and fried rice too! It's so hard to sit in the car with the food on the drive home, yummy!

Went in for a late lunch yesterday and ordered potstickers, orange peel chicken, and egg fried rice. Several people came in after me, ordered, and got their food. I understand enough that the kitchen had to be reminded about my food. After about 20 minutes my food arrives. I take it back to work. The potstickers were covered in a thick dough and inedible, the orange peel chicken was coated in a goopy sauce. The chicken was overcooked and tough to chew. The egg fried rice was decent. But for $31 it was just bad. Man it makes me miss Su Hong!Save your money, go someplace else!

There is no better pork fried rice in all of the Bay Area! I'm very picky but they get it right everytime.

Seems like you either love or hate this place. I grew up on Su Hongs (formally) and even would frequent the sister location that moved twice in Palo Alto back in the day. The headquarters is, and always will be, the Menlo Park location.Personally I love their combination chow fun. No one does it like them and its pretty incredible. Other note worthy items: Fried prawns, chicken salad, szechuan beef, and their hot and sour soup is actually pretty decent! I love the fact the same familiar faces take my order when I go there! It's an OG spot.

I ordered takeout from here a couple of weeks ago while visiting family. This place used to be the beloved "Su Hong" restaurant, known for their delicious Chicken Salad and other great dishes.Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. We ordered the Chicken Salad, Fried Rice, Pot Stickers, and Chicken with Snow Peas. The Chicken with Snow Peas and Pot Stickers were so inedible (tasting like rubber) that they went straight into the trash. The Chicken Salad and Fried Rice were the only dishes that were somewhat edible.I won't be ordering from here again. It's a shame that the quality and standards of cooking and ingredients aren't what they used to be at Su Hong.
