A clean, simple, and cozy restaurant with great service. We enjoyed every dish we ordered. Papaya salad was tangy and seasoned well. Forgot to request adding more lime juice to Chicken Larb. Tangy larb is our preference. Khao Soi was very good. We wished there were a little more soup to go with the noodles. We liked the flavor of Pad Ped sauce and especially Chicken Yellow Curry sauce.Definitely we will be back again.

Been wanting to come for awhile. Walking distance from our house. We've been curious as Just Won Ton was here for a few decades. Then it was briefly a Vietnamese place. Now it's a Laotian/Thai place. The interior got a face lift. New lighting, flooring, and even new bathroom door. Plus a private dining room next to the kitchen in the back. The three us had an early dinner here. Saturday at 5:10pm. We were the second party to arrive. There are two separate menus. The Laotian menu is in a plexiglass frame sitting on the table. And the Thai menu is two sided laminated. Ordered - * two items off the Laotian menu. 1) Por Laos, fried rice noodles with ground pork. Similar to Vietnamese imperial rolls. Very good. Came piping hot. You can wrap in lettuce leaves and dip into sweet chili sauce. 2) Kao Piak. Hand pulled rice noodles in a ginger chicken broth with pork loaf, pork spareribs. It's served in a soup bowel. When I first saw it I didn't think I'd be satisfied as there's only a few noodles. Hearty chicken broth with much umami. Great on a cold winter night. * hubby got the bamee kiew. Egg noodles with three won tons in soup. And a couple prawns. And minced pork. And fish balls. And choy veggies. Very hearty. He enjoyed. * daughter got pad see ew with shrimp. Rice noodles with four good size prawns. She enjoyed. Service was good. One server that did everything. Took orders, cleaned tables, brought food out from the kitchen, etc. We'll come again.

Chaa Roen Pohn is a Thai, Laotian restaurant in the outer Sunset district of San Francisco. 4.5 stars on Yelp, so we decided to give it a try. They have separate Lao menu, not many restaurants do.Safety Pluses - Online menu, Delivery services available, online ordering. Food Review:Tum Thai ($12) Green papaya with spicy dressing, fresh chili, garlic, lime juice, long bean and peanut is a pretty standard version. Reasonable price and quantity. 8/10Khao Soi ($16) Egg noodle switched to small rice noodles, in northern Thai style chicken curry topped with pickle green mustard, onions and crispy onion is favorite of many. This version has really spicy current and nice crispy wonton bits. 8.5/10Mango Sticky Rice ($8) is solid, lots of sticky rice. Mango was probably out of season. Not huge portion. 8/10Overall - Very GoodFood - Very GoodDecor - Very GoodService - Very GoodValue - Very GoodWould we come back - Maybe

I really liked this spot! Came here for dinner and had their khao soi, tom yum noodle soup, and nam khao (Laotian crispy rice salad). Everything was so good! It was a pretty busy night with full house and maybe a few people waiting but quick service. Would definitely come back! Street parking in the surrounding residential area.

Thai and Lao spot! Service and food were great! There is WiFi available if you need so you can ask for the username and password. Tom yum noodle Soup - favorite dish out of everything! Their Tom yum flavor was strong but overall, it wasn't too sour, had a bit of sweetness to it.Steak Lao - flank steak was tender and flavorful. The house made sauce was very strong, so light dipping is efficient. Has a strong tamarind flavor so keep in mind!Mhok Pla - steamed catfish with dill. This was a very interesting dish. Steamed catfish was tender, very light in flavor/seasoning minus the dill. the dill was STRONG. I enjoyed trying this dish out

I got the Kao Piak because it was a cold day and ginger chicken soup sounded nice. The hand-pulled noodles were interesting. I was expecting the Chinese-style long noodles, but these were between 2 and 5 inches long and pretty thick. I actually liked the shorter length because it was possible to eat them with a spoon. The broth was nice and flavorful. The soup overall was nothing incredibly special, but it hit the spot for a nice comfort soup. I think the portion was kind of small (it's not like a gigantic bowl of pho). Service was really nice and I'd love to come back and try other things!

Came here with a friend on Sunday for lunch. We parked residential a block away but there's metered parking available on the same block of the restaurant. Wasn't too busy when we got there. We were quickly greeted and seated. The restaraunt looks bright, clean and comfortable. We had a paper menu and a small menu with Laos items posted on the table as well.We Ordered:1. Khao Soi with egg noodles: rich and flavorful, nice heat, and the chicken was tender and well seasoned.2. Kao Piak (hand-pulled rice noodles in chicken broth): this was so light, tasty and fresh! Would come back and get this again. My parents would like it since it's so light.3. Mango sticky rice: rice was warm, well seasoned the mango was good too. Would get again 4. Ice Thai tea: I felt it was too sweet. Same feeling for my friend who got their iced coffee.Overall food was great and the restaurant kept busy with customers coming in and out and takeout. Worth a visit for the area.

Stopped by with my one year old for a little lunch date. I had the khao soi for lunch and it was perfect for such a cold day. It was so delicious! Definitely one of the better ones I've had. Loved the broth. It was slightly thick, full of flavor, and had just the right amount of spice for my taste. Love all different textures from the different ingredients in this dish. The service was friendly and the food came out quick!

Pad Thai was among the best I've ever had all the ingredients were uniform and neatly plated and fresh flavored. Nam Kao Tod was really tasty. Never had it before but the toasted rice bits so were so addicting I'd eat a whole plate of it.Staff was really nice and attentive. Didn't feel judged for my lack of Lao or Thai dishes/pronunciation. Resturant was clean and well lit.
