3.5 STARSDate: Sunday, April 16th, 2023Time: 12pmMeal: LunchOccasion: Red Egg & Ginger Banquet*Egg Rolls*Seafood Tofu Soup*Walnut Prawns*Crispy Fried Chicken with Shrimp Chips*Yang Chow Fried Rice*Mongolian Beef?*Sweet and Sour Pork*Salt and Pepper Pork Chops*Greens with MushroomsI was invited to a red egg and ginger party here for one of my close friends. I'm not sure if the menu was part of a set banquet one or if they just ordered each dish individually. But we got the items above for our table of 8-10. Not everyone showed up, so there was plenty of food to go around. The menu was standard and filling for a lunch. I adore salt and pepper pork chops, so I enjoyed these. Savory and crispy. I don't see the crispy chicken much anymore, so it was nice having this. (My fam used to order it all the time when we were little.) Gotta love those shrimp chips too! I'm a soup and veggie girl, so if course I was happy to have both. The soup was a touch under seasoned but nothing a little salt and white pepper couldn't fix. The veggies were tasty. Gotta have my greens. We had a fair amount of tables, so couldn't fit in one room. But the restaurant is modest in size, so it was easy to roam around and talk to people.Solid spot for standard Chinese food.REVIEW #3606

Not our first time eating at Canton. We were looking for a place half way from San Francisco and the south that we could sit and not be rushed out so we meet at Canton. They have a parking lot which is a plus but parking is not that hard to find in this location. I haven't eaten here in over two years. Walked in at 6pm and there was no one inside but looked like they had to go orders sitting on the counter for pick up.Six of us and each picked a dish to order. We had a variety. Food was decent, prices and portions were okay. At first I felt the waitress was unfriendly but she warmed up afterwards and a few more families came in to eat. We ended up with seven dishes. They have very good chicken wings. We were able to sit until they were ready to close up so about 8:30 they said they were getting ready to clean up. They packed our leftovers and overall the restaurant is okay for what it is.

Sampled this restaurant since I had to run errands in the area during lunch, this spot has always historically been a chinese restaurant, everytime one closes down another family rolls and and tries to roll their dice, it has always been just good not anything amazing, I was able to sample two items on there menu during lunch, my go to dish is and will always be salt and pepper pork chop preferred with fried rice but open to white rice. There dish was heavy the fried rice seems a bit light, the salt and pepper pork was more meat then bones which is preferred, if you get more bones in your meat then actual meat your wasting your time lol. The food again was decent, piping hot, flavorful and quickThe dim sum i did sample the shu mai sadly i will have to pass on dim sum next time, it did not taste freshly madeIf your with a group definitely sample more of the dim sum there are several options, if your by yourself stick with the lunch platesFood *** decent, lightly flavored fried ricePrice $$Service ***Ambiance ***

Amazing service on 01/17/25 for a party of 25. Elaine was exceptional. She was patient, efficient, and very helpful with the menu. This place is our go-to for Chinese food. Not just for location, but because of the good food! So good we forgot to take a pic of what we ate! Thank you for taking great care of us.

Nice Cantonese restaurant serving dim sum, mid week lunch rice plates, and common Cantonese dishes like Lobster, Crab, Shrimp with Walnuts, Chow Fun and Chow Fan.We went on a quiet weekday and the front room was packed. The rear room is open on weekends for larger dim sum crowds or for banquets. Wheelchair access is available through the rear room as there are steps at the main entrance. We had:- Dim Sum (Siu Mai, Pork Riblets, Chicken Feet, and Salt & Pepper Eggplant). First time having Salt & Pepper Eggplant ever! So rare and we liked it! All of the dim sum came out hot from the kitchen.- Singapore Rice Noodles - Canton Restaurant makes a drier version with more curry spice than other restaurants. We like our Singapore noodles wetter but this was ok, just different.- Beef Stew and Tendons in a Clay Pot, moist beef stew with a good amount of soft tendons. Also has Foo Jook in the clay pot.Service was very good, tea constantly filled, servers fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, and leftovers packed on your behalf. Many places just hand you a box...Overall, we'll go back. Parking lot is always a plus!

Stood there and the waitress walked by me 3 times ignoring. Asked for an extra pot of tea due to the large number of guests at the table. Was told just use one and she would refill. You guessed it, she did not refill it. Barely came to the table to check on us. Had to stand up and go walk to her to ask for napkins. Waitress and waiters have bad attitude. Price is high and food is average at best. I'm surprised this place is still in business. Will never be back again. Let my bad experience be your guide.

This was the place chosen by my Aunt's family after honoring her at her funeral service. Some call this gathering the Longevity Meal. It's what we Chinese-Americans have after every such service. The food is often chosen from the banquet menu. Both my sister and I, who are very picky when it comes to Chinese food after decades of both willing and unwilling sampling, were surprised by how good the quality of the food was for an establishment neck-deep in a relatively suburban, non-Chinatown neighborhood. But I must say this was not a standard meal, so I don't know if they upped their game for the occasion. I will then say it's a good spot for banquet-level fare.I'm winging what we had since everything was pre-ordered, and I didn't see the menu. -Cold plate sampler: The bbq pork was sweet and tender.-Fish filet: Possibly braised cod with string beans and mushrooms. Good infusion of wok flavor.-Walnut shrimp: A different take in that it was deeper fried and less sweet, but still tasty.-Peking spareribs: Sweet and tender, though pieces were a little big to handle with chop sticks.-Braised Tofu: Surprisingly hearty and well-sauced.-Corn soup: Was lukewarm and somewhat bland.-Steamed chicken: Fresh but slightly tough. Could've been enhanced with the typical ginger-scallion-oil sauce, which surprisingly was absent. The service was just ok. We had four tables and were the only guests in the restaurant. Yet, our two servers weren't always attuned to what we needed. The restaurant is on the smaller side. They do have a dedicated parking lot, but it's also smaller than average.I took no pictures because it didn't seem appropriate for the occasion.

Third time coming to Canton. And third time I leave super happy. As always the place is clean and the servers are super nice and always ready to answer any question. Today I have a wonton soup again. It's amazing how a super simple soup can have so much flavor. The broth is amazing and you can taste each piece of vegetable. The wontons are superb. I asked the server about the foo yung. To me is a new Chinese dish. He describe it and it make sense after doing a heavy workout. It's a full protein meal loaded with flavor and textures. I had it with pork and was amazing. Both dishes are enough for two people for sure. But I am so happy to have leftovers for tomorrow. Canton is a really gem in Daly City in my opinion.

I came here with 8 coworkers for a weekday lunch. It's a bit hidden, situated behind a real estate office. Canton does have its own parking lot. We had: prawns in lobster sauce, combination fried rice, sizzling sea bass w/ginger scallions, crispy fried chicken, and spicy eggplant with garlic and basil. The star of the lunch was the prawns in lobster sauce. The sauce was flavorful without being overly salty. They were pretty generous with the amount of prawns. We originally ordered 2, but had to order 2 more plates due to their popularity. We also had the honey walnut prawns, which were good. The sizzling sea bass was also a hit. The breading and the fish were both very light. The eggplant was billed as spicy, and it lived up to the billing and then some. The fried chicken was fine. The combo fried rice was really good: good amount of meats, not oily, and the rice wasn't clumpy. The service was nice. The dining room was warm (it was a hot day and it doesn't seem like they have a/c). We had a great time. I will be back.
