Calibur

Parking on West Portal can be rather hit or miss these days. We parked about a block away which isn't so bad. I had never been so I went with a single with all the fixins and upgraded my onions to the grilled ones. The bun is so super soft. The party is definitely quality meat. Had to try their signature "Caliber sauce", and it was pretty good. It didn't wow me though. D2 got a cheeseburger with Swiss and grilled onions, minus tomato. She enjoyed her cheeseburger. We shared the tallow fries, which was a more than generous portion however I'm not a fan. I felt like the fries were dry, to the point where they almost tasted overcooked. No indoor seating. 2 small tables along the sidewalk and a parklet out front.

A fresh and filling burger! The meat tastes of high quality (grass fed beef). I liked the onions and Calibur house sauce.One area of improvement for the burger would be to decrease the amount of oil/grease collected on the wrapping though Chocolate milkshake was nice thick consistency and solid flavor. Straw was a bit flimsy to use until the shake melted through a bitStaff was friendly and efficient. On a weeknight dinner it only took 5-7 minutes to get my burger ready. Outdoor seating only or I saw many people doing to-go or delivery orders

This is to me like a gourmet In-N-Out Burger. Food was good. And the location is nice, but the seating is outdoor only. A great place to come on a sunny day in the city.

Caliber is an amazing burger joint. Hamburgers are fresh and juicy. Milkshakes are tantalizing, sweet and creamy. I also had a chance to try one of their chili cheese hotdogs. The chili was nice and savory, but the portion was small. Overall great choice for burgers

The burgers here are savory! Service was great, really nice staff. Great location with plenty of parking.

So this is what fast food costs you these days. $30 for:* Cheeseburger; * BLT;* Fries (cooked in Tallow, vegans beware); and an* IPAAs my order was rung up at the counter I noticed the 25 cent bag charge being added. "Oh, we're eating here" I remarked only to learn that all orders are bagged "to go". In fairness, Calibur has removed all of their indoor seating (I know not why). A couple small tables and a parklet are just outside the door. Still, a tray would be my preference over paying for and wasting a bag. So I sat at a table out front, opened my bag, and ate. About the cheeseburger, here is what was said: "I like In N' Out's better" then "but this is still good".About my BLT, "It's good, if a bit bread-y". And about the fries, of which there was a very large portion served piping hot, "wow, we need more catsup" then "we're not going to finish all of these". Who doesn't finish fries? It's a very generous serving of tasty fries. So the word "good" was bandied around a lot here.I've no burning desire to return but if I were again in the area looking for something quick to order and appear, Caliber would be a decent option.

Stopped by this burger joint in the middle of my Reverse-Crosstown Trail trek & this was a perfect bite to rejuvenate me for the rest of my hike. The interior was a cute diner feel, though no inside seating. The cheeseburger was really fresh & the ingredients felt really high quality. It felt like a slightly upgraded In-N-Out burger. I also shared a side of Chili cheese fries and the fries were really delicous! Nice and salty, while crispy and pillowy. Unfortunately the chili was not my taste, with it being a little too sweet, but next time I'll just grab the fries plain :)

Overall decent food, I enjoyed the fries (although the loaded fries weren't worth it in my opinion). Pretty casual spot with fast service!

**Calibur - A Burger Lover's Paradise**Nestled in a prime location with a whole block dedicated to food, Calibur is where true burger enthusiasts come to indulge. As soon as we walked in, we knew this spot meant business. No need for flashy decor--the menu is the star here. Grass-fed, grass-finished beef, topped with real cheese, is what sets these burgers apart.I went all in with two doubles, one with bacon, and they barely lasted five minutes. Every bite was pure bliss. The service was on point, too--after my purchase, they let me in on the secret bathroom in the back, which is a lifesaver in a city like San Francisco.My wife's already planning our return for the French fries fried in oil, which we didn't get to try this time. If you're a burger aficionado, don't skip this spot. Calibur's got the goods!

French fries fried in healthy beef tallow (fat) are sold here and they are dark golden long, slightly crisp on the outside and soft inner texture and in great amounts (1 box feeds 2) as they should be in the America of 2025. Free from modern seed oil of course. When ordering their burgers you can get them as low carb variant in lettuce wrap. They don't have indoor seating and only 2 tables outside (Jan 2025).
