We found Maggie by a recommendation from our wedding photographer. We were so impressed with the flavors she offered during our tasting that we decided to choose her for our wedding cake the moment we left the tasting. Her cakes are so fresh, light, and flavorful. She only uses fresh ingredients. She uses Real butter in her buttercream frosting, not shortening. Once you have real buttercream you can't have the 'other' stuff. Maggie's buttercream is sooo smooth and creamy and just simply melts in your mouth. We chose the coconut cake with passion fruit buttercream filling and lemon cake with raspberry filling. She only charges an extra $50 for two flavors, awesome. The lightness and light sweetness of her cakes was the perfect match to our Chinese banquet. Her pricing is also very very affordable. She tells you exactly what you need based on your guest count and what cake design you were thinking of using. She is not opposed to using sheet cakes to cut the cost down also. When our wedding day came, our cake looked perfect. I only gave her a picture to follow and the cake looked just like the pictures with a little bit of changes because we wanted to use real flowers. (I've included a picture of the cake.)Maggie was the best and we have received multiple multiple compliments on our wedding cake. Her cake is so fresh that it's been 15 days since our wedding and we are still nibbling on the top cake tier; tastes just like it did on our wedding day.

Cakes by Maggie provided our wedding cake for our April 2011 wedding. We decided to go with Maggie because of her excellent reviews on-line, her price, and the taste of her samples. We were satisfied with cake we got. At her recommendation, we ordered up and purchased 100 slices for our 85-person wedding. We only had 2 slices left-over. Pros: + Our lemon-cake with raspberry-filling tasted good. + She makes her own fondant, so it actually tastes decent. + She set-up and decorated the cake on time. + Maggie is very sweet. + She worked within our limited budget ($455 for our cake and delivery). Cons: -Maggie works another job, and this is her side-business. She was often slow at answering e-mails (3-4 day turn around), which can be frustrating during the wedding-planning process.- We went down an unconventional route and did not hire a florist for our wedding. I think Maggie is used to working directly with florists when decorating a cake, so it was a bit challenging to communicate about what would be appropriate flowers for us to buy. If you're interested, I'd set up an appointment with Maggie to meet her and try her samples.

We loved our wedding cake that Maggie made for us! We got an almond cake with blueberry compote. Maggie was very responsive to emails and texts which made our wedding planning process enjoyable. The cake tasting was one of my favorite parts of wedding planning! We ended up spending more than we initially budgeted to get the size and look that we wanted, but we think it was worth it! Thank you, Maggie!

Let me preface this review by saying that I am a wedding planner. I met Maggie via a previous client. I'm not quite sure how they found her but I couldn't be happier that they brought her into my life. Maggie is my go-to wedding cake maker. From the first appointment with her, you'll find that she's really passionate about her craft. To most people, that would be enough reason to book her but when you deal with Maggie, that is merely the beginning. She's willing to work with you on all aspects of your journey. As a planner, I typically stay our of price negotiations so I can't vouch for her in that department - but based on her per piece price, she's priced fairly.I don't want this review to turn into a novel so i'll try and cut it down to what's important.1) Cakes by Maggie taste amazing! After I was introduced to Maggie, I started sending couples her way. One of those couples happened to be my uncle and his fiance. They already had a cake booked and to be honest, I don't remember the circumstances but they decided to try a tasting with Maggie anyway - within seconds of leaving the appointment my phone ran and all I heard was "g*d d@mm!t Dianne! What did you do?!?" within a few days, they had their original cake cancelled and booked with Maggie! My uncle ended up with far more cake at the end of his wedding than he thought he would - so a bunch of us sat in a hotel room and ate cake after the wedding including extended family members... everyone was blown away! needless to say, there wasn't enough cake after all! 2) Maggie's willingness to change her recipe to accommodate your likes and dislikes. If you like fluffy cake, she can do that. If you like dense brownie-like cake, she can do that too! I mention this because if you are a bride and you start going on these cake tastings - you'll find that most bakers only make cakes one way, what you see and taste is what you get. Where as with Maggie - that's not the case, she wants to make sure you have exactly what you like! 3) Maggie's professionalism blows well known bakers out of the water. Her presentation at the cake tasting alone is enough to wow you. Most bakeries don't take the time and give the same attention that Maggie does. 4) Since my uncle's wedding... several family members have asked about Maggie's cake. At my grandfather's 80th Birthday, everyone asked why we didn't get a Maggie cake. At my cousin's wedding shower, this past October, I couldn't tell you how many people mentioned "remember uncle Mike's wedding cake... that was soooo good!" Keep in mind my uncle just celebrated his 4th wedding anniversary and they're still talking about the cake! 5) I don't want to say anything negative about Maggie because I truly believe she's amazing but i will say my one dislike about Maggie is that I wish that she made personal cakes. Maggie has a minimum amount required which I don't mind so much but I don't think I can eat that much cake (or more true is probably to say that I shouldn't eat that much cake). After speaking with Maggie, you too will understand why she doesn't make thousands of small cakes but after tasting her cake, you'll wish she did!

Maggie came highly recommended to us by our good friend. We set up a cake tasting via email and were completely obsessed with her cakes when we left. We knew we were going to go with her :) Not only were her cakes delicious, we felt really comfortable with her. We knew we were in good hands. She was professional and replied promptly to every email. She worked with our florist on her own after our initial introduction, and on the day of our wedding, the cake looked exactly like we wanted! Thanks, Maggie, for an awesome cake and easy process.

I picked Maggie to create our wedding cakes because of her great reviews on Yelp, and I have to say.....she was amazing! Her communication was excellent from the start; always prompt and attentive. We had so much fun at our cake tasting, and she brought MORE samples than usual, because we wanted two cakes (his and hers), and she helped us narrow them down to two incredible cakes. Everyone at our wedding raved about our cakes, and there was always a crowd around the cake table photographing them. The ingredients were fresh and delicious and the flavors balanced perfectly. I knew from the first phone conversation that Maggie was the one for us, and we didn't even try any other baker. We highly recommend her for any cake needs! Thank you Maggie, you're a true artist in your craft!!

Like the other Yelper, I too called Maggie several times without any success. Between my husband and I, we called a total of five times, left five different messages and had zero of those calls were ever returned. Maybe Maggie's business is doing so well she can't find two minutes in her busy schedule to check messages? OR maybe it's that she lacks proper customer service skills? Dunno. We ended up going to Sibbys Cupcakes instead and our guests all raved. Hooray for Sibby's!!!

Cake tasting was the one thing I was looking forward to most when wedding planning, I mean, free cake!? Sign me up. My now-husband and I planned on trying lots of cakes and having many tough choices. Unfortunately, we met with Maggie first and ended up getting two of her cakes! The whole story...Maggie met us with our desired cake samples in a Starbucks and we were able to taste several cakes, fillings and buttercreams which she is able to make in different styles. My husband and I were very impressed with the cakes and we were able to quickly decide which was our favorite. Maggie worked with us to decide on a design that would work for us and very promptly emailed a professional quote.Just to make sure we knew she was the girl for us, we met with another baker. It became very obvious very fast that Maggie was unbelievably professional, organized and knew what she was doing. We ended up choosing the almond cake with cream cheese buttercream and a tart cherry compote for our wedding cake. As a surprise for my groom, we also had Maggie make a groom's cake in the shape of my betrothed's golf bag with chocolate fondant, chocolate cake and caramel buttercream. Both cakes were OUTSTANDING. I couldn't have asked for better cake, in fact, I wish we had more leftover wedding cake because it was soooo good we gobbled it up by the next morning after the wedding.I look forward to the next excuse I have to order a nice cake because I will definitely be asking Maggie to make it for us. Brides, you will not go wrong with a cake from Maggie!

Maggie did my cake for my wedding at Kohl Mansion in May 2014 and I loved it! I had shown her pictures of cakes with ruffles and I wanted fresh peonies and left it to her discretion on what that would look like. It turned out beautifully! Maggie ended up going to costco to get extra peonies at the last minute because getting them from my florist was too pricey. I appreciated the extra effort to make sure it would look good!We got two flavors for our cake, the almond cake with blueberry compote for the bottom and chocolate cake with chocolate mousse for the top layer. Everyone said the cake was light and flavorful and even the outside fondant was soft and yummy. I like her flavors because they taste like the real thing and are not too sweet, she also offers more unique flavors than standard places.

My wife and I met at our friends' wedding, where they had Cakes by Maggie cupcakes. We liked the cupcakes, so when it was our turn to find our wedding cake, she definitely made our list.We contacted her, and in a single conversation asked us the flavors we liked. From that, she made lots of samples that used our favorite flavors in different combinations. She met us at a local Starbucks, we got to taste (and I re-tasted several times) the combinations and got to choose our two: chocolate cake with peanut butter filling and lemon cake with raspberry filling. Before tasting Maggie's, we did another tasting, but it tasted like any ol' regular cake. Once we tried Maggie's, we were sold. She made a beautiful 3-layer cake on an ornate plateau. Maggie worked directly with our florist to make sure the flowers were prepared properly to be used on a cake, and Maggie decorated the cake on-site. It was exactly as we had envisioned it to be and discussed months prior. The cakes were extremely moist and all guests raved about the cake, days (and now months!) afterwards. She also made a separate post-wedding couples' cake (similar to the top tier) and had it waiting for us in our honeymoon suite fridge. Because of this, we could serve the entire cake (top tier included) to our guests, and not hassle with getting the top tier at the end of the night from the hotel staff. She was easy to work with, very professional, and knew what she was doing. Returning the plateau was easy too, after the wedding was over (less headache!)Definitely recommend!
