"Before I came here, if you had asked me for the name of a high quality, family-run meat market in San Francisco, I would've hemmed and hawed and still not come up with a reasonable answer. Yes, I am a carnivore but mostly when somebody else is cooking the meat. Check, please! Gee, I haven't grilled anything in eons, but now I have an answer.I may even end up wearing a chef's hat and one of those long aprons that say something irreverent like 'I LIKE MY BUTT RUBBED' on the front. But before I do that, I should share that I was taking a long walk on Taraval and thought it looked promising from across the street. I really had nothing in mind to buy before entering the front door.Several customers were ahead of me, so I had time to peruse the long display cases of meat as well as the produce, dairy products, and beer on the other side of the shop. Helped by the friendly staff, I was frankly entranced by the wide selection and impulsively bought a couple of Artichoke & Garlic Chicken Sausage (photo: https://yelp.to/OzIztjtYjH) and a couple of prepared items - Chicken Parmesan and Eggplant Parmesan (photo: https://yelp.to/e9ZYVvZCvH).I didn't realize I was buying dinner for the next few days, and all the food turned out to be quite delicious. I grilled the sausage and cut it into slices in a homemade pappardelle dish. I just heated the parmesan dishes and saved myself the time to prepare them. So go ahead and ask me the name of a high quality, family-run meat market in San Francisco. I have an answer.FOOD - 5 stars...everything I bought here was fresh and delicious when I got homeAMBIANCE - 4.5 stars...temptations abound in a small spaceSERVICE - 5 stars...quite helpful and friendlyTOTAL - 5 stars...I do like my butt rubbedRELATED - Exploring the Sunset? "I've walked by a number of times but there always seemed to be a line. On a recent Tuesday morning, there were only a few people standing nearby so I took a photo of the sandwich menu (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=KsxmRUq56gN1vWr-xhhICQ&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q) to study for a future visit since I already had lunch plans. In reading the specials sheet, I decided to get something. After a customer left, I walked to the counter and ordered the mushroom & farro soup (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=dvImmsOLYdl11frdgLZpGw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); the sheet described this as having little pork and wild mushroom meatballs and pecorino cheese. When I removed the lid, I was happily surprised that the broth was reddish as opposed to the creamy variety that I find with mushroom soups. I steamed my bowl and had this for as part of a weekend lunch at home. I enjoyed this, especially with the amount mushroom slices (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=7U4EUXG2jNgXxTsRGOc9dw&userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q); I did not carefully read the description so the tiny meatballs were a welcome surprise. I will have this again if it's available. The gentlemen in front of me walked away with a small paper wrapped package so I'm guessing they got some of their house made meat items. Well, it'll be Tuesday tomorrow and I will save room to get one of their sandwiches. You know I'll be looking at the specials and if that mushroom soup is available again..."
"Even though they have a huge butcher section, I opted for the tacos. It wasn't expensive, but it also wasn't super cheap. Maybe like $4/taco. The cecina taco was very delicious and memorable! Cecina Taco: My favorite taco of the batch I tried. A huge single thin slice of beef. Apparently it's salted, but it's not like corned beef salted, more like a steak that's a bit salty. Really enjoyed the flavor.Chorizo Taco: Large chunks of ground pork full of spices. Seemed like larger granules than you typically get with chorizo. Worked really well on the taco.Carne Asada Taco: Wasn't quite feeling this one. I was expecting seared slices of steak. Instead, there were large chunks that were like lesser cuts that were a bit bumpy. Like what you might think of for tacos or fajitas served in a school cafeteria.Carnitas Taco: Pulled pork that is deep fried to be a bit crispy. Nice texture and good meat. Could have used a bit more marinade in the meat though."
"It was my uncle's birthday and we have a big family dinner. We decided to eat at home this year instead of outside due to the coronavirus fear going on. So I decided to make my uncle's favorite dish in Chinese restaurants, wasabi flavored shredded chicken with pork stomach. I went to this shop and was surprised that they have everything I needed! Whole chicken, pork stomach and even condiments! Meat is really fresh. The pork stomach is not even stinky at all. Environment is really clean. Staff is really friendly. Location is really convenient. Price is really cheap and affordable too! This will be my go to shop from now on!"

Great variety of meats, seafood and deli items. A true find. Usually easy parking. Stuffed pork chops are the best!

Taking over the old Golden Gate Meat Company counter, but seemingly higher quality. There are tons of fancy charcuterie options, but I was drawn to all the lunch options to-go. Very tasty and not too outrageously priced (by San Francisco Ferry Building standards).Porchetta Sandwich: So it's not warm nor thick cut nor crunchy like the Roli Roti version. Theirs seems like they let the porchetta cool and then sliced it very thin like deli slices. Different style, but also delicious. Porchetta cold cuts are a bit fattier than normal cold cuts, so lots of flavor. The veggies and herbs were great to contrast the richness. I especially think the parsley and mint worked well. Nice fresh crusty bread too. The lunch board said $14 and all I paid was $14, no hidden fees like other new stalls. Pretty filling.Beef, Pork & Ricotta Meatballs Sandwich: Fairly straightforward sandwich with 3 huge meatballs in sauce on a chewy roll. Oh, and some parmesan on top too. Sometimes places put on mozzarella and toast the sandwich, but very basic here. Though it does let you focus on the meatballs, which are very good. A nice meaty chew, which makes me think they don't put in too much breadcrumbs filler. So lots of good stuff in this humble presentation.Slow Roasted Pork Bañado: Tender pulled pork that has a little kick, super soft roll and a nice dipping broth. It reminds me of a French Dip, but much richer because of the pork. Very unique and memorable. Perfectly warm for a chilly day! Perhaps my favorite of the sandwiches I tried. Jambon-Beurre de Truffe: Simple, yet delicious. Reminds me of those delicious baguettes in Paris that were buttered and had some ham inside. Except here the ham comes in a very generous American-sized portion, is thicker and a little smoky. Also, the butter had a lot of personality because of all the truffle chunks. So with so much flavor in ham and truffle butter, the baguette basically took a back seat here.Hot Pastrami: Warm pastrami on some crunchy panini bread. The meat is thick and salty and more mildly spiced than pastrami I've had elsewhere. Some melty cheese for some good measure. Had a bunch of purple cabbage slaw at the bottom. Don't think it was fermented like kraut. Tasted fresher, though maybe distracts from the pastrami too much.

Great selection, really good quality, reasonable prices. When I am in the Mission, I stop by this place to pick-up something tasty to bring home.Their name says it best. Fresh Meat and Seafood Market.Love some of the pre-cooked and chilled seafood items like the plump cooked shrimp (sold in different shrimp sizes) and cooked whole octopus (cheaper than Costco!).Occasionally, if I am going to a BBQ cookout I'll pick a ground beef chuck or ground chicken to stick on the grill. You will find some wild caught (not farmed) fish, too.I haven't been cooking for myself lately, but I when I was younger I had a subscription to Cook's Magazine and would tap into my inner chef.Wish I knew about this place back then. It's the perfect one stop place to imagine your next meat or seafood dish. Some of the folks who work there don't speak a lot of English. I believe they are speaking Cantonese. So keep that in mind when ordering.

This is a great meat butcher/market inside Cal-Mart. Occasionally, I like to come here and buy a whole chicken so I can break it down like a certain loud and profanity-laden British celebrity chef. I love to make chicken soup and stock. I also really enjoy how knowledgeable and nice the staff are here. Is it a bit pricey? Yes, but the quality is there.

Walking home from BART, I found that all the sudden, this Halal market was open, and it sure was a pleasant find!I ordered the lamb kebab plate. While waiting for my food being cooked and slowly tortured by the sizzling sound of the lamb making me hungry, I can tell this place is a community oriented spot. Everyone here is friendly, and just talking to the gentleman cooking my kebab made time fly with genuine conversation. With the lamb kebab in hand, I marched home to dig in. And to much delight, the lamb as so tender and with gentle seasoning, I have to try their other dishes.I don't think anyone could possibly make a bad order for their cooked meal!

I am visiting and needed a few items. This store is very well stocked with anything you need. It has many gourmet brands, even artisanal bread! If I lived in Brisbane. I would frequent it often!

"This Market is within the Cal Mart Market. When yougo ask for Andy or any of the guys can help. They can order any special meat, fish or poultry you will need. They are busy so please be patient. Everything is in I've and arranged so you see their proteins through the glass. Makes for great ambiance. Ha ok I said the last sentence to get the for ambiance. But in all seriousness- Great service and quality meats, chickens and fish."
"NextDoor has shown me how close to home crazy is. But, I haven't deleted it for two reasons:(1) Lost & Found Pets(2) FOOD!While someone was complaining on ND about seeing posts in the Peninsula. If we didn't have the ability to, I would have never known about Halal International and Greek Market, at the top of the hill Daly City. The name is a bit of misnomer tho since new owners have taken over during covid and it's more of a Middle Eastern Market now. In addition to being a small market and butcher shop (halal meats), they also serve hot food every day from 11 am - 7 pm.M E N UMiddle Eastern Cuisine: Hummus, Baba Ghanoush, Kebabs, Shawarma (wraps/plates), Chicken Mandi, Lamb Shank and Beef/Lamb Haneeth ($10.99-$19.99).F O O D* Beef Haneeth w/ rice, salad ($19.99): https://tinyurl.com/3ddx9cd7First time I've seen Beef Haneeth on the menu (they didn't have lamb available) so had to give it a try. It's a Yemeni dish of slow-roasted, bone-in beef served over a bed of rice. Generous portion of meaty beef chunks, a tad dry and not as spiced with aromatics as I expected it to be; seemed to be seasoned with just s&p. But, the rice was flavorful and fluffy with nicely separated grains. The cumin, cardamom, and cinnamon came through with each bite. Portion was enough for two meals. Served with a side of Jerusalem salad of crisp cucumbers, tomato, and parsley, and yogurt sauce. Def ask for a side of zhug! The Yemeni green hot sauce packed a lot of punch and brightened up the plate. S E R V I C EAll business. With no line, it took about 10 minutes for my order. A M B I A N C EMore of takeout place since it's a market but there's a small counter at the window with several stools if you want to dine-in. P A R K I N GMetered street parking.Overall, if you're looking for affordable and generously portioned Middle Eastern Fare (esp Yemeni dishes), Halal International and Greek Market is a solid option in the area!"
"I go there for my girlfriend cigarettes. The place is clean, and the man behind the counter is friendly."
