"While walking to my chosen lunch spot, I kept noticing how many "new" businesses that weren't there between 2020 and 2022. I used to take my goddaughter, the furry variety, along this route and there were so many boarded doors and windows. As I walked, I took photos of places that piqued my interest. On my walk back after lunch, I decided to window shop at their gelato, especially after seeing Genevieve Y's (https://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=_aSs5dSAabuwnXUGBPzASw) photo of spumoni that I saw a few days earlier. I saw an item that might interest her but another flavor caught my eyes. I tried the hazelnut brownie gelato (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=H1rySEB3-C5COE2aglmvSw), medium in a cup. She told me that the small size was not available. As she scooped my gelato, I wandered to the rear counter and saw another menu board (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&start=24&select=DNHu8CwQQL9Qwx97vfTQWg). I am saving this for a future visit in case something appeals to my stomach for a future lunch. I walked back to the front cashier area and she rung me up, offering seating in the back area in addition to the two sidewalk tables in front. I passed on her offer, paid for my gelato, and walked to my car. The hazelnut brownie was rich but the flavors seemed a bit muted and not bold. The brownie pieces didn't really stand out and the hazelnut didn't add much to it. I will probably try the lychee one next visit. The gal at the cashier was very nice and friendly, helping me with a smile throughout. It's great to see more businesses along this block open now, a stark improvement from the past few years."
"I went here for Valentine's day. I highly recommend the spring garlic pappardelle pasta!! I never knew spring garlic could have so much flavor and complement the pasta and the tender wagyu meat. The pizza was amazing as well, but I didn't enjoy the Funghi pizza as much. The clash of flavours was overwhelming. I opted for a lighter dessert option after indulging in carbs, as the desserts at this establishment are exceptional. The gelato and sorbet will definitely help with that, and it is delicious! Great spot for date night!"

"CyBelle's, however you pronounce it, has the best vegan pizza in San Francisco. I don't know whether its their own recipe or a product they found, but the vegan cheese is way above what fake cheeses normally provide. They also make their own vegan pepperoni, and they also offer a vegan cashew pesto sauce which is delicious. We usually get half pepperoni & half Chicken-On-The-Green, made with vegan chicken, natch. They apparently have a bunch of other vegan items like sandwiches, mac n "cheese", etc; but I am still so thrilled to have a proper pizza again after so many years that that's all I order. It's not 100% vegan, don't worry meat-heads. I'm sure their non-vegan food is as top notch as their vegan options. You can tell that they take pride in their food. Please check them out, and be aware that the restaurant is usually not so crowded that you can't get a table any night, though I hope that changes because I want CyBelles to be around at least until I die."
"I've had really good luck getting a table at this place even on weekend nights. Table for one. The wine list is spectacularly quirky with all kinds of Italian delicacies. I've never had a bad dish here -- but I recently had a truly outstanding gnocchi dish in a prawn and lobster sauce that was so good I wanted another bowl of the sauce to enjoy. The prawns were cut into pieces about the size of ehe gnocchi so you never quite knew whether prawn or dumpling was in the form. So good."
"*POSTED ON FACEBOOK*Arrivederci from Aldo Blasi at Ristorante MilanoI have owned Ristorante Milano for over 35 years. Sadly, yet with excited anticipation about the future, I am ceasing operations as of March 31. At 73 years of age I've decided to retire.Growing up in Rome, Italy, I often accompanied my grandfather, Ugo, to his restaurant Ulpia, in the Roman Forum. I watched how he worked, talking to customers, the waiters, and chefs.I came to San Francisco when I was 19, first to school at Berkeley, then worked in music production and restaurants over the next decade. I met my wife, Louise, and started raising our family. I had a thought about going back to Italy, but how could I give up this city I love? Then the opportunity came up to buy Ristorante Milano. We scraped together the money and embraced the challenge of running a full service restaurant in one of the most beautiful, and competitive cities in the world.I loved being able to put into practice so many things I learned from my grandfather. I developed strong personal relationships with purveyors, created menus, made the pasta daily, and taught several chefs how to prepare the authentic dishes. It was so satisfying to see the recipes I learned from my upbringing in Rome come alive in my adopted city of San Francisco. I am proud to have been able to share the comfort and joy of Italian cooking with so many people throughout the years. Although I have been the visible presence at the restaurant, I am grateful for my wife, Louise, for her partnership in dreaming, creating and sustaining this success with me. I am also thankful to our two daughters for their support and encouragement.Ristorante Milano's staff's dedication has shown throughout the years with the consistent service and caring community they have helped foster at the restaurant. We are a tight-knit group, with a couple of them working almost 20 years with me. We worked shoulder to shoulder through some pretty tough times like the pandemic, recessions, even the street collapsing. I will miss seeing them nightly, working together, and sharing our nightly meal. I am very grateful for all their hard work. We have been fortunate that Ristorante Milano is located on the border of beautiful Nob Hill and Russian Hill. We know our neighbors and care for each other. Many of my customers are within walking distance, yet we get guests from all over the world. I enjoy talking to the customers, and have made some long-term friendships over the years that started with someone walking in for dinner. What a beautiful city we have here and I am proud to have been a contributor to the food scene in such a marvelous community. I am so grateful to this city I love, and my customers, for supporting me and our staff at Ristorante Milano all these 35 years.People will ask me what I will do when retired. Will I go back to Italy? I will certainly visit often and for longer periods. But I love San Francisco and its people, and look forward to enjoying everything this city has to offer too. I wish the best of luck to all the owner-operated businesses. You are participating in and contributing to a beautiful world here. With love and gratitude,Aldo Blasi"
"**Updated review**I booked my reservation through SF Restaurant Week's official website and was excited to finally try this place. Upon arrival, we were greeted and seated right away, which was a great start. However, things took a turn when our server handed us the regular menu without mentioning the SF Restaurant Week menu. When I asked about it, the staff member I spoke to claimed they weren't notified that they were participating. How is that possible when the restaurant was listed on the official website and we booked our reservation through it? SF Restaurant Week is a well known event, and participating restaurants usually share their menus online. I even checked Yelp and found only one photo related, which made me suspect they were trying to avoid offering the prix-fixe menu to maximize profits. Their excuse? "They weren't notified in time to create a menu." That's frustrating and misleading, especially since the event details had been public for two weeks+ meaning they should have been aware well in advance. If they weren't prepared, they shouldn't have signed up.That aside, we decided to stay and order from the regular menu. Unfortunately, our food took a long time to arrive. We ended up filling up on bread and soup while waiting. To make things worse, two other tables - a small party and a larger group that arrived after us, received most of their food before we received one dish.Food Review: * Mixed Crudo - The halibut was the best part- succulent, slightly sweet, and of course, there were only four pieces. The scallops, on the other hand, were overpowered by coarse salt, making them way too salty. The salmon was pretty standard.* Dungeness Crab Linguine - Decent, but not memorable. There wasn't much crab or sauce, so I probably wouldn't order it again.* Crab Chowder - Delicious, but the portion was misleading. The bowl was super shallow, making it look like there was more than there actually was--probably the same amount as a cup.* Branzino - Fantastic! The skin was perfectly crispy, and the side of broccolini was a great touch."
"This place was absolutely amazing. It closes at 8 on Sundays; our reservation was for 8pm. We walked in and they seated us right on time. The ambiance was perfect, romantic and intimate yet not overdone. The service was fantastic; quick but not rushed, and all the staff were extremely attentive. My better half had originally ordered gnocchi but they happened to be out at the end of the night. He went with the pumpkin gnocchi instead, and was pleasantly surprised. I tried a bite as well, and liked it enough to order again. The lemon caper salmon and mashed potatoes with greens was fantastic, and I am definitively picky when it comes to how my salmon is cooked... Hats off to the chef and kitchen staff; between the wine and the amazing dinner were were too full for dessert . We did not leave until well after closing, and were not rushed out at all. In fact quite the opposite. We asked if they would take our picture together; I attempted to dress up and put on cute shoes for the evening but as someone with a mobility disorder I am admittedly slow when it comes to standing and walking lol. They were so kind, patient and accommodating, and more than happy to take the camera and get some good shots before we left. I am truly impressed and do not have a thing to speak poorly of. We would most definitely return when we are in the area again!"
"I had dinner here with a couple of friends and it was my first time. We ordered the San Daniele pizza, paccheri, and the spaghetti di mare. The pasta dishes we ordered were perfectly al dente. The paccheri was a bit salty. The San Daniele pizza was cooked perfectly and was well balanced. The service here was friendly and attentive. The interior has a sophisticated feel with the slightly dim lighting."
"We attended a friend's birthday party here tonight with about seven other families and I was really surprised at how fantastic it was. They reserved a large area of the restaurant just for our group and set the pizzas and salads out buffet style on the bar area for us to self-serve. The kids enjoyed the arcade area while the adults got to chat. It was our first time at Zorba's and the pizza and wings were really delicious. The party platter of wings was humongous and there was a ton of pizza leftover. They also let the host bring in their own ice cream cake. I would have never thought of this for a kids birthday location (kid was turning 11) but after tonight I would definitely recommend it."
"Thursday 5:30pmI so love this place. It's a friendly and tad fancy small space inside the storefront of Metro Hotel. Perfect vibe for date night or catching up with some friends. (not too many!) Sweet patio with lounge area & clear dining bubble tent.I recommend any of their wood-fired pizzas with a side salad for sharing. More people, add any of their Italian dishes.Got a thing for the Moto, that's my pizza of choice for takeout. I mean it's everything a pizza should be: tomato, Calabrian chilies, mushrooms, red onion, sweet Italian sausage & mozzarella. The only thing I would add is a few anchovies. Solid choice. Destination worthy.Support Local!"
"The salmon penne was so good! It was creamy and savory and hot. The bread appetizer was so fresh, we well as the sole. Amazing service and friendly staff in a cozy Italian restaurant within West Portal."
"I've eaten here twice. The first time was well over a year ago and spontaneously. It was a warm Friday afternoon for dinner. They sat us in the back which was nicely set up. The service was very kind and attentive. I appreciated how they were welcoming to my young child despite it being a white linen table. They showed no fear of a child ordering pasta with marinara! Haha The second more recent time we ate here was planned although I forgot to make a reservation. Still, no problem. They took our party of four and offered us a seat outside immediately or inside with a 30-45 minute wait. We took the outside despite the cold. They had heaters nearby although they did let us know the one directly next to us wasn't working. It was during winter holiday time so they were a little busy but the service was still very kind. They apologized for the waits but we understood. The bread came out and was warm and yummy. When our food came out, everyone was pleased with their orders. We'll plan to come here again."

Late night ice cream run One of the best Sorbet place I've tried yet! Lots of flavors and the texture plus flavor of all the flavors are so good! I would recommend getting a fruity flavor (mango!!). 2.5/5 stars cannoli was disappointing. It was stale. Everything was stale, even the filling. 5/5 stars Mango Sorbet. Taste so mango-ly and if you put chamoy and tajin to it, it'll taste like those mexican mango lollis!! So good! Definitely will be back for some sorbet! + they're open pretty late

We were in the neighborhood looking for a bite to eat and came across Pausa. I'm so thankful that we found this cute spot with amazing ambiance. We've been back a few times now and always look forward to our next visit. If you can score a reservation, awesome. If not, there are usually seats at the bar. Either way, you won't be disappointed. Some of our fave dishes are their seasonal salads, butchers/cheese boards, and the margherita pizza. The pizza has been the highlight for us and we get it every single time. For awhile they had a mushroom side which I absolutely loved. Their menu rotates so it's hard to fall in love with something before it goes away! Haha. They have a full bar and their bartenders make excellent drinks. Street parking only.

It's a crime that I haven't given Cybelle's a review until now because this is THE SPOT for my vegan fix in the city. Not originally a vegan establishment, but I believe we have the owner's vegan daughter to thank for the designated vegan menu and designated vegan fryer AND the continuous addition of creative new vegan specials! Don't sleep on the vegan wings. Also. Beignets.

An absolute authentic Italian gem tucked away in the Castro. From food to ambiance, this place doesn't miss a beat. Sporting a great happy hour menu, delectable pastas, and the best tiramisu I've ever had, this spot is perfect for a night out or to fulfill that comfort food craving. I'd recommend starting off with wine and fried calamari, of course the pomodoro and burrata pasta, and finishing with an espresso martini or pour of grappa, and the delicious tiramisu. There isn't a bad bite to be found on this menu, nor is there a bad seat in the house.

I came here alone for lunch on a Monday in late August while visiting San Francisco. The restaurant had some diners eating but wasn't super busy. They have a very cute indoor dining area, as well as covered outdoor seating. A staff member greeted me right away and seated me immediately. He brought water and a menu right away, and was efficient and friendly. I wasn't super hungry so I just ordered a half dozen oysters and the scallop crudo. Both of these came out quickly and were very fresh. I think this would be a good spot for a date night or a leisurely lunch. Would recommend and try again if I got the chance.

We randomly had a late lunch here on our way into town before we checked into the hotel. Super cute inside, very friendly staff, and the menu looked pretty solid. It was very cold outside so my husband and I were both looking for something warm and comforting. The minestrone was exactly what I was hoping for - super flavorful, VERY hot, great flavor, fresh. The beet salad was gorgeous and I loved the sauce - it was honestly a nice little surprising dish. Spaghetti bolognese was solid - and again, came out nice and hot. Bread service was tasty and come on, bread is always a great treat. We ordered our drinks - a glass of Pinot Noir and a beer - but the server misunderstood and brought and opened the whole bottle of wine. Thankfully we were able to cancel the beer so we could share, and they let us take the rest of the bottle sealed with us to go to our hotel. Solid experience overall - and grateful we did not have to wait for a table!

I was looking for a place that serves pasta in a parmesan cheese wheel. Found it and had the place bookmarked for a future visit. Finally had a chance to visit recently. We shared several dishes so we can try a bunch of their offerings.Their beet salad was tender and tasty. Served with roasted hazelnuts, some kind of mild cheese crumbled and butter lettuce leaves. Tasty and pretty light. The grilled octopus was the highlight of my meal there. Lightly grilled and oh so tender. The pasta in the cheese wheel was prepared table-side and with a well-practiced flourish. It was creamy (as expected) and worth the wait. The Panna cotta was a lot creamier than was expected. The pieces of fruits were at the height of freshness and just the right amount of ripeness and sweetness to round out the meal.Looking forward to coming back soon!

"I've enjoyed dinner at Vega many times, often bringing a friend or family member to spread the joy. The food is wonderful (my favorite tiramisu in the city) and the service is outstanding (Peter knows the BEST wine/food combos). Romantic low light ambiance. A dependable restaurant for a lovely experience."
"What an amazing experience we had for dinner tonight! Service was incredible, the house made pastas were made to perfection (we tried the pappardelle, rigatoni, and risotto), and the ambiance was warm and inviting. This is a place you come back to over and over again. Definitely a little gem of San Carlos."
"After nearly a decade of eating here, it's still a wonderful, warm and consistently delicious Italian restaurant. Their pasta is all homemade, and no matter which one you order, you won't be disappointed. I love the bucatini and the tortellini, but they're all good. This local restaurant is an excellent choice for anyone who is local or visiting."
"Great fresh food. Great service. The owner of many years is there to greet you. Love this place!"
"The food here was disappointing, which was a surprise given the great reviews, the number of people waiting for dine in, and how frequently other people were picking up take out or catering trays. We came here on a Saturday afternoon and waited around 30 mins. There was only 1 main person seating and serving everyone with 1 other person occasionally helping out when they weren't busy with the line at the register. Since we were seated right next to the register and it was getting closer to closing time, we luckily didn't have to wait too long to order. However, there was a table outside who ended up coming in to order because no one had checked in on them. The food also took awhile to arrive. The Ravioli al Tartufo was decent. The sauce was great, maybe a tad bit too salty, while the ravioli filling was bland. I had to get more sauce onto the ravioli after every bite. My husband got the Bolognese Lasagna. He's typically pretty easy to please but even he didn't really care for it. There wasn't much flavor (it really only tasted like onion to me, but I don't like onion so it probably stood out more). But the biggest problem was just how dry it was. Not sure if this was related to how busy they were or how close it was to closing by the time we got our food."
"Great Sandwiches! I've had several of there Sandwiches with no complaints, but I love their breakfast sandwhich! Fresh house made bread with a great staff!"
"Saved my 1,300th review for a special place: Caffe Macaroni.I chose this restaurant because it was unique and quintessentially San Francisco to celebrate my son's 17th birthday. Caffe Macaroni is the kind of restaurant where you can go enjoy a great meal, no need to drop a lot of money, yet the food, experience and location are top flight. Caffe Macaroni isn't priced "For Special Occasion Only" yet the meal is everything you'd ever want for dining out. In fact, the restaurant was populated by people who come twice a month or once a week. It truly is that good. The owners were enjoying a glass of wine at the sidewalk table when we walked up. They seated us at the beautiful banquette overlooking Columbus. There's also a parklet to accommodate more tables. And the food, ah.. so, so amazing and authentically Italian. We started with the daily special appetizer, Tagliere, a generous board of mortadella, capocollo, tarelli, prosciutto and olives drizzled with fine olive oil and lightly dusted with peperoncino, delicious. We also ordered the yellowtail carpaccio with lemon, olive oil, red onion and capers. Onto the pasta plate: Ravioli Pecorata ($19.50): Delicious homemade ravioli filled with ricotta in tomato sauce drizzled with pesto, perfection on a plate. The showstopper was my son's dinner: Porkett e Fnucch ($27.95): Finely sliced pork belly and loin with fresh fennel, rosemary and lemon zest. It melted in your mouth and made you wonder how you'd eat pork prepared any other way.I had the gorgeous, perfectly rare ribeye over a bed of wild arugula with pecorino and lemon ($31.50). Every bite was savory. And of course, cake, Meyer lemon and a specialty of the House with a complimentary shot of limoncello for mama. We strolled back to our car, marveled at the meal we just enjoyed and looked up at the beautiful TransAmerica building. I felt lucky to have a wonderful child, live in this beautiful city and to have enjoyed a perfect meal. You must come!"
"Wonderful food and service! We sat outside , although it was a cloudy day. Their heat lamps were very hot. So much so, we had to ask to turn them down. The focaccia bread served at the beginning of our meal was soft and fresh! We are big fans of squid ink pasta and their rendition was very good. We appreciate how attentive the staff was. We will definitely be back!"
"Dinner last night with a party of 12 was a blast. Be sure to make a reservation if you have a larger party. The food was great. I had the spicy angel hair lobster which was fantastic and a pretty big portion. Also make sure to try the octopus! Service was great and we always had a heavy pour on the drinks. The cafe is super tucked back and had a great vibe"
"The food was great! Service was fantastic. I was really grateful that we were offered a private room for our group due to predicted rain. But we actually got really lucky that it didn't rain that nice and still get to enjoy our team bonding dinner in the private room. The only downside for me is that they were allowing other guests to come in and out of our private room to use the restroom which I thought was a little strange. We weren't notified about that little detail. But the overall experience was great. The wine recommendation was good. Parking was not as bad especially since we can use the Spruce valet too across the street"
"I've eaten at Piazza Pellegrini twice, both times on the patio, and it's a lovely experience. The patio is comfortable, with heaters that keep you warm, even on chillier evenings. Although it's outdoors, the fenced-in design gives it an intimate, cozy vibe, perfect for a relaxed meal.I've tried the lasagna once and the chicken parm plate another time--both were so good, my mouth is watering just thinking about them! The food is definitely the star here. The service is okay; you kind of have to ask for things like bread or water, but it's not a dealbreaker because the food is on point. I'd recommend this place to anyone who values great food in a charming setting."
"I'm always trying to find good food deals in SF, and Fiorella has one of my favorite ones! On the last Monday of every month, they have certain pastas, pizzas, and wine for $10, and lower priced appetizers. I had to book my reservation 2 months in advance though, but luckily there are 2 other locations in SF (Polk and Sunset) you can try to reserve too! We picked the Neopolitan Pizza (and added the pepperoni, mushroom, and sausage toppings) and the Lumache Fra Diavolo pasta. I loved the spice with the pasta, and the sauce was so creamy and flavorful. We also ordered the meatballs which were some of the best meatballs I've had in SF. The $10 house red wine was great, and they definitely gave us more than 1 glass worth (felt like 2 glasses with the carafe they gave) which is a steal! One thing to note was that their back patio seating only allowed service dogs, which is the first time I've been in a restaurant in SF where they didn't allow dogs to sit outside or on the patio. Other than that, I had such a great experience here! I do think it's a little overpriced to come here on a normal night, so I highly recommend trying to get a reservation on the last Monday of the month, so much more worth it."
"Went here for dinner with my friends recently and all the pizzas were so yummy! They were pretty busy on a Thursday night as well but the food came out pretty fast. There was a bunch of options to choose from but we ordered the burrata, Ccalabrese + honey, and funghi pizzas. Definitely devoured those slices of pizza. I recommend coming here if you're craving some wood fired oven pizza with a good ambiance."
"This place is amazing! The hostess, Delaney, is what made our night. I'm currently disabled and she went out of her way to accommodate my needs from the very beginning all the way until the end of our dinner. I had to use the restroom and she personally walked me all the way back to the restroom and held the door for me! The food was incredible, our server was extremely attentive, and the food came out fast. I'll definitely come back. Thanks Delaney!"
"We were on our way for sushi then the delicious aromas wafting from this busy corner restaurant drew us in. They kindly accommodated us; we were seated immediately. The service at Pearl is excellent, extraordinarily focused on timing and friendly and knowledgeable repartee. They perfectly timed our courses and brought a glass of Barbera seconds before my bavette steak arrived. The mains were the star of the show (and the dessert!) but the appetizers need work: The roast cauliflower on black tahini hummus with green chermoula ($16) lacked a tempting presentation and became worse when I portioned to our plates in a confused, sticky mess. Black hummus doesn't work as an attractive base and throwing a giant handful of blanched almonds on top seemed a desperate move by the kitchen. The tuna tataki was delicious with an interplay of sweet and spicy: Bits of persimmon and fine slices of Serrano peppers played off each other with the fine lemony note of cilantro but a bit dear at $18 for (6) very thin slices of crudo. The Hankerchief white bolognese had a wonderful flavor. I think I sounded so certain about ordering they didn't describe what ground meat was in the pasta. It had to be chicken- and the dish had panache ($26).Even better was the perfectly executed Bavette of steak in thick, rare slices with a spicy, flavorful green harissa sauce reminiscent of zhoug, an Arabic sauce made from cilantro, jalapeño and cumin. The plate was perfectly balanced by tahini and tender small potatoes with pickled onion and fresh dill ($32). I wished for another slice of steak mostly because it was so delicious. Our server recommended the Meyer lemon pudding cake over the cardamom semifreddo (both $13). Dressed with huckleberry sauce, whipped cream and candied ginger, the cake was delicious, loved the uniqueness of the huckleberries. The menu is small and creative. I would return to try new, seasonal plates. Service is any restaurateur's dream team!"
"Great gnocchi and pasta. Love the lasagnetta - mini rolled lasagnas that are a nice balance of flavors. Carbonara leftovers are great for breakfast the next morning, with a fried egg on top!"
"Went here for a date night and it did not disappoint! It was my first time here, but I had previewed the menu beforehand and, as an Italian food junkie, I had high expectations!! It truly did not disappoint!! When we first arrived, we were immediately greeted and seated. Unfortunately, I do not recall the names of the people that helped us, but every interaction we had was beyond pleasant. Everyone was so attentive, helpful, and willing to give recommendations. We never had to ask for more water or cheese, etc because the service was that great. My date and I shared our meals and since I'm a vegetarian, we went with the cheese ravioli with marinara sauce and a medium pizza! There were plenty of veg options (at LEAST 6 different veg pastas, not to mention tons of salads, pizza, calzones) The ravioli was divine! One of the best raviolis I've had and the sauce was equally delicious. The pizza (veg side) was Margherita and didn't have sauce which was my first time having a pizza like that but it was so good! The crust was rich in flavor so I didn't feel like I was missing anything! Already planning on coming back here asap!!"
"I thought I had reviewed this place! This place is good. Quick and comes tasting the same every time. The steak is huge. I love the desert and the Gorgonzola salad and the shrimp!!"
"Came here on a Thursday evening for dinner and I'm glad we came early (~5:15) because it started to get packed shortly after! We ordered the crispy cauliflower and the New Haven style baby clam pizza. The crispy cauliflower was delicious and I was surprised that I haven't had cauliflower served this way before. It had a nice caramelization and slightly crunchy texture that was light and not heavy at all. It reminded me of maple glazed brussel sprouts which I'm a big fan of. I'm usually not a white sauce pizza kind of person but I was very intrigued by the clam pizza. It was good and I was pleasantly surprised by the abundance of baby clams and how they did not give off an overly seafoody or fishy flavor. After a couple slices though, it did become a little one note for me and I think I might have preferred it without the mozzarella.Service was super friendly and food came out in a decent amount of time, with the pizza piping hot from the wood-fired oven.I'll be back to try their other pizzas soon!"
"We've been back several times and in the past found the host to be rather unpleasant although we enjoyed the food. The place isn't large but nicely organized with good amount of tables. This time the host and guy behind the bar were all friendly and cheery. We ordered a fungi pizza, Caesar salad, and lasagna bolognese. We liked them all but especially the pizza and salad!"
"My favorite pizza anywhere. Back in my college days I worked nearby so I started coming back then. Nowadays whenever my family takes a trip to the city we have to come back. The Detroit style is a nice addition, but I think the cornmeal crust is the best. My wife loves the fettuccine carbonara. This time we were advised to try the dessert pizza, and it was fantastic! Can't wait to come back."
"Came in on recommendations for restaurant week and so glad I did. Top of the hill on Powell and Bush. Which is funny if you remember a few presidents ago. Got a great meal in a great cafe with a great host named Kristna. Also turns out he's the owner also of the next door bar The Last Drop. The music is clutch. 40-50's vibes and a beautiful view along the cable car track. Will add more shortly. Still eating...Yall missing out! I've eaten and drank everywhere from pacific heights to north beach, from the ferry building to Richmond ... this place is a great deal, a hearty meal, and an easy food vibe. Get. In here. It's silly that more San Franciscans aren't flooding the doors considering where else they choose to spend the money. Give Roxanne's Cafe a shot. It's worth the walk up the hill. "We went around 7:50 on New Years Day when everything was closing/closed. There was 3 parties so we were seated right away. The ambience is great, and we were provided clean and clear menus with descriptions of the entrees. A very polite server and amazing service, especially on a holiday. I had a bite of the Orecchiette and the sausage was sooo well seasoned. Really good! The salmon was really good as well and the pesto's chicken was a bit tough. The star of the show, I had the Saltimbocca, amazing. 1 flaw and it was the chicken, really tough. BUT! the gravy and vegetables, prosciutto and cheese? Divine! The vegetables were tender and well seasoned. The roasted potatoes were cooked so so well!! The outside was crispy and the inside was soft, I had to savor it for the whole meal. The gravy was the star of it all, even dipped the bread in it. 4/5 due to the tough chicken :( but would come again when im in town!"
