My fiancé and I made a spontaneous, game time decision to try a local restaurant for my birthday dinner. We're so happy we chose Burma Silver Star!Parking was easy; we parked across the street since there were more available spots. Turn a corner though, and it gets pretty packed because of the residential areas. The sunny yellow & green inside of the restaurant was calming with beautiful, charming photos for sale adorning the walls. We were able to find seats easily for Monday night dinner. We were offered some warm jasmine tea once we were seated. For food we started off with some classics: tea leaf salad, pan tay noodle, and chicken curry (we chose this dish with opo squash).Everything was delicious, more than enough for two, and we felt like house guests being treated with a home-cooked meal made with love. My partner usually doesn't enjoy salads but the tea leaf one was a winner. We both liked how balance it was: fresh, bright, and umami from the peanuts and fermented tea leaves. Pan Tay noodles were soft, not greasy or overpowering in flavor, and we made sure to cut and mix in the egg with the rest of the dishes components. The chicken curry had bone-in chicken, and overall a heartwarming dish. The overall theme we felt throughout the night was comfort. Comfort from: how friendly this family-run business was with their service; eating as much as you want and not feeling like anything tasted too rich but harmonious with everything mixed in and eaten together; and being a great pick me up on a bad day or just because.Looking forward to coming back again, and we have our eyes set on the Burmese coconut chicken noodle soup as recommended.

Decided to meet up with a friend here for dinner. They open at 5pm and I got there right at opening. I was greeted upon walking by the chef, only said hello and the rest of the night we were served by what looked like his son? little kid, nice kid Good hospitality but I wasn't too impressed with the food. It didn't taste fresh and it wasn't hot enough...it was just warm. The restaurant looked clean and the decor is cute. 1st try here but it's not something i'd try again. i'll def give other Burma restaurants a try. This is not a bad review.... definitely give this place a try and judge for yourself

Humble, Homemade, Reasonable on Pocket!!I have to start off by saying their food is simple, fresh and delicious!!I ordered Samosa Salad, Chicken Potato Curry with Parata and Faluda. We have been struggling to find a decent Burmese place in Bay area. Most are hyped, overpriced and some are plain terrible tbh but I am so happy to find this spot!!I like my food medium to spicy and dessert on the lower sweet side. I mentioned while ordering and it was really taken into consideration! Chicken had fresh chili as i asked for and Faluda was amazing!!!!! It was just right amount of sweet but delicious!!!!!Spacious clean layout. Can find paid parking outside if you're lucky or park in the lot a block away. It was such a lovely meal!! Love that kids were also helping out in kitchen. More love for you guys. I will definitely be going back!! Maybe to try their Egg Curry with vegetables and Faluda ofcourse thank you.

My new favorite place for comfort food. I ordered the coconut chicken noodle soup which was creamy and savory. There were hearty chucks of chicken and noodles in the soup along with a few sides. The noddles come separately with sides which you add to your broth. Very large portion that you can easily share. My partner ordered the egg curry and vegetables. Which came in a delicious curry sauce and had okra. He also ordered a side of coconut rice which had a slight sweetness to it. Every bite was so delectable. He devoured the whole dish. The owner gave us complimentary samosa which were very delightful. Amazing spices mixed in mashed potatoes. I would recommend them.Such a lovely place with lots of seating inside. The owner and wait staff are very friendly and you can tell this is a wonderful place to come and enjoy food with family and friends. We couldn't get enough of our food and were even more thrilled to get a chance to speak to the owner and hear his stories about living in Burma. Such a sweet and kind individual who honestly loves his family and his restaurant.

I would say 4 stars is generous--definitely somewhere in between a 3.5 & 4 in terms of food--dependent on what you order. Service was good & attentive. We got there around noon just before the lunch rush and it was empty. Within a short window the tables started filling up. They have a great variety of foods, curries, rice & noodle dishes. We ordered the tealeaf salad, chicken curry potatoes with pratha & home style fried rice. Everything we ordered had good flavor but there were a few observations--the tealeaf salad was delicious, however, I thought it was too salty and too much citrus or fish sauce--there was quite a tang...my entire party agreed with me. Despite that, I still consider the salad to be quite tasty. Next came the curry chicken & pratha. I loved the flaky doughy pancake. The curry had good flavor too, however, the sauce was a little thin, as in watery--not watered down. I was hoping for something with a creamier consistency. The fried rice was very delicious, it was served with a scrambled egg on top--this was probably my favorite of all the dishes we ordered. If you're near Top of the Hill Daly City, it's worth checking out. They're not far from the intersection of John Daly and Mission.

SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS I really enjoyed my dining experience tonight, I came here on a Wednesday night with my husband and mom, and we were greeted right away with owner So. Who is so incredibly hospitable! Welcomed us with warm tea from Burma and gave us recommendations on what to order as well.We ordered the tea leaf salad, lamb curry, and pan tay noodles which were all incredibly delicious! The tea leaf salad is not oily at all compared to other places I've had it and I think some people below complained about the portion sizes but actually I thought it was well portioned. Lamb curry also came with a decent amount of lamb so I didn't think they skimped on the meat. The pan tay noodles reminded me of the Chinese chow mein but spiced a bit differently. It came with this Burma dry chili that I LOVED u must put some on your noodles for extra ummmmf!! Everything tasted so wholesome and home cooked. We then chatted with the owner for a good 15 minutes, where he explained that a lot the raw materials he uses are from Burma because quality is just not the same sourcing from local.Overall, I would 100% come back here and try other dishes!

Service is really nice, I felt personally attended to. I was offered a complementary side of coconut rice and my customized order was happily done. I really enjoyed the local small business vibes. Just spoke with So, the owner and he was happy to cook all our food and gave us a high five when he saw we polished off every dish XD.The interior is recently renovated and gives very clean and homey vibes in the best way. So mentioned he sources most spices and ingredients straight from Burma because it's hard to recreate the authentic flavor here in America. I have to say the chili flakes and the noodles have a distinct flavor I enjoyed that I've never had before.I recommend getting the tea leaf salad :p I'll be back to see what So recommends for us next time, he said he'd have new reccs for us haha.

Great service and excellent food. The palata with curry (potato) was tasty. The tea leaf salad was different from what I've had elsewhere, but was very good. I'll definitely be back for the pork curry- I had the sour leaf option and it was great

Summary: Service was lacking during the visit. Food wasn't remarkable to borderline disappointed overall. Not going back in the foreseeable future even though it's only 5 minutes away.Perhaps we didn't order the right dishes.Service:The two of us were there during normal lunch hour on a Sunday. Only one server. There were only a few people at the time. We were given the menu. Took us a while until we ordered. By then it's common to be served with water. I understand that we weren't getting a glass of water until we have placed an order and could have requested water ourselves. It is common in casual Asian restaurant that the server doesn't come around interrupting your meal and asks "how's everything" or go around refilling your cup. Instead they do what they have to do and but is usually around often enough that you can grab their attention. The server was in the kitchen long enough that I considered refilling my own cup.Food:I'm not Burmese, didn't grow up eating a lot of Burmese food, or claim to be an expert of Burmese food. We ordered the chicken coconut noodle soup. I was surprised to see noodles, chicken, garnish and soup separated. Nothing remarkable. We also got the lamb curry. To me, meat tenderness can bed unchewable, tough, firm, tender, falling apart, and disintegrated. The cube of meat was mostly lean somewhere between unchewable and tough. I can accept meat that's anywhere between firm to falling off the bone tender. Least favorite dish of the meal.Nothing remarkable about the tea leaf salad.Ambiance: clean, bright, spacious, with adequate separation between tables.
