Bread N' Chu - A Tiny Spot with a Huge SoulYou ever find one of those cozy little places that just feel right the moment you walk in? That's Bread N' Chu. It's like discovering a hidden book nook at the end of a long shelf--small, charming, and full of warmth. The decorations? Cute. The vibe? Relaxed. It's the kind of place that makes you want to slow down and enjoy every bite. Now, don't expect a full dining experience--it's more of a Grab-N-Go kind of spot. There are only 4-5 chairs inside, so unless you snag one, you'll probably be enjoying your sandwich elsewhere. Parking can be a pain, but let me tell you--this place is worth the extra steps. The Food - Absolutely Stacked with FlavorThese sandwiches? Not small. Not lacking. Not basic. They are loaded, and I mean stuffed with so much goodness it almost feels unfair to other sandwich places. Every bite is rich, bold, and perfectly balanced, and you can tell they're not skimping on ingredients.CHASHU SANDWICH [5/5] - My Forever FavoriteI don't say this lightly, but this sandwich is life-changing.The pork belly? A masterpiece. It's marinated just right, soft and melt-in-your-mouth, with those little crispy ends that give you the perfect amount of crunch. It's savory, a little sweet, and ridiculously tender, and when it meets the soft, slightly sweet Japanese milk bread--that's it. Game over. Perfection.I took my first bite and just sat there for a second, processing how good it was. It's the kind of sandwich that makes you close your eyes and go "Damn... this is it."TONKATSU & CHICKEN KATSU SANDWICHES [5/5] - The Golden BoysI took one bite and actually laughed. That's how good these are.First of all, the crunch? Unbelievable. Golden, crispy, and perfectly fried--not greasy, not heavy, just pure, light, satisfying crispiness. And then? Boom--flavor explosion. You've got that rich Kewpie mayo, the fresh shredded cabbage, and that slightly tangy, slightly sweet katsu sauce all coming together in the softest milk bread. It's everything you want in a katsu sandwich. You ever eat something so good, you look at your friends like, "Are you tasting this? Are we having the same experience right now?" Yeah. That happened.EGG SALAD SANDWICH [4/5] - Beautiful but Missing SomethingVisually? A work of art. This sandwich comes topped with delicate, edible flower petals, making it almost too pretty to eat.Taste-wise? Really good. The egg salad is creamy, smooth, and light, perfectly complementing the soft milk bread. But I couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing. Maybe a little more salt? Maybe a tiny kick of something extra? It's still delicious, but compared to the others, it felt a bit too delicate.Would I eat it again? Absolutely. But next time, I might add a little salt or pepper myself.CHOUX SANDWICH (Strawberry) [5/5] - A Sweet, Messy DelightLet's talk dessert. This sandwich is like biting into a cloud. The light, fluffy yogurt cream filling pairs beautifully with the fresh, juicy strawberries. It's not too sweet, not too heavy, just this perfect balance of flavors that feel like they're meant to be together. And the milk bread? It shines here too. The slight sweetness from the bread just ties everything together, making each bite feel effortless and indulgent at the same time.Warning: It's gonna get a little messy. But honestly? That's part of the fun. If you're not licking some cream off your fingers by the end, you're doing it wrong.Final Thoughts - A Tiny Place with a Huge HeartBread N' Chu isn't just a sandwich shop--it's a hidden gem, a love letter to flavor, and a place that turns simple sandwiches into something special.Everything here feels thoughtful--from the ingredients to the preparation to the sheer joy packed into every bite. The portions are generous, the flavors are unreal, and the overall experience is unforgettable.Yes, it's small. Yes, parking might take some effort. But trust me--none of that matters once you take your first bite.Bread N' Chu is the kind of place you don't just visit once. You come back. Again and again. Because after you've had these sandwiches, nothing else quite compares.Final Verdict: If you haven't been here yet, what are you waiting for? Get yourself a sandwich. Or five. You'll thank me later.

Cute little Japanese sando shop with no seating inside, so it's more of a grab-and-go spot. The store itself is small but has a nice aesthetic. Parking is street only, which might be tricky during busy hours. The sandos were a bit bigger than I expected! We tried: - Tonkatsu - My favorite! The crispy pork chop was crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside, and paired really well with the katsu sauce and kewpie mayo. - Spam & egg - A nice combo with a soft-boiled egg and spam katsu. The signature mayo added a nice touch. - Chashu - Flavorful and juicy, especially with the sweet shoyu sauce. - Egg salad - A bit bland for my taste, so I wouldn't get it again. - Choux with strawberry cream - Stuffed with lots of fresh strawberries and cream, perfectly sweet and creamy without being too heavy. Slightly pricey for what it is, but the flavors were solid and it was fun to try!

We celebrated my husband's birthday over the weekend and he wanted to find a place that had Japanese sandos and Bread N' Chu popped up on Yelp. It looked good, it looked interesting, and most importantly... they had egg salad as an option. Parking in this area is a bit tough on a Saturday afternoon. We had to circle across the block a couple times before we were able to find a spot across the street. Their menu isn't extensive which is great. He opted for their egg salad sandwich (that he ranked as his top 3 since coming back from Japan!) and I got their choux sando which was currently their strawberry cream sando. Both get passing grades from us. The only thing that really hurt was the cost being over $30 for two sandos, but it's a good treat once in a while.

Every time I come home from Japan I try to like this place, the price compared to other sandwiches in the neighborhood is already confusing but every time I order from this place I genuinely cannot justify the menu prices. There is just nothing special about these sandwiches. Please don't let the hype fool you, every sandwich I've had over $15 in the city had something special going for them, these sandos are just NOT it.

Services was goodNice small shop, has a friendly ambianceEgg salad sandwich: bread was good as of all the sandwiches but the egg salad l may need more seasoningChashu sandwich: flavor was good but the meat cooked little too burnt. Would be nice if it wasn't as burnt but decent overall.Chicken Katsu: best sandwich we had. The sauce was really good and the chicken was crispy. Strawberry matcha latte with regular milk: the latte tasted watery and the strawberry pure seemed premade and not fresh.Overall a decent place for a sandwich but I feel it is on the pricy side. Drinks have room for improvement.

I wanted to like this place so bad since I've heard good reviews but not sure if I'll be giving it another try.Egg salad sandwich.. meh, it was basic. Nothing special about it and for $15, this made me wish I just made it at home lol. Choux sandwich was good. Super creamy and not too sweet. Strawberries adds a great touch to the cream. My matcha latte was a little bitter and for $8+ I'd hope it would be good. Although, my husband did say he enjoyed his mango matcha latte.I spent almosr $50 for such simple sandwich. It didn't feel worth it to me.

I've had this place on my radar for awhile, but it being in the outer richmond I'm rarely in that area. But it was a sunny summer day and had some time on my hands. I was surprised to see how many sandwich options they had! They even have a truffle sandwich!I asked the owner what he recommended for a first timer, he said the chicken Katsu sandwich. It was crispy and juicy, I must admit before I ordered I thought it wasn't going to be filling but I was wrong. The bread is light and the flavor bomb from the chicken is awesome!Staff was friendly, the menu isn't overwhelming with options. Was just shy of $20 for one sandwich, but the flavor is so good I would definitely come back.

Got the tonkatsu sandwich for $19, the price for a sandwich is way too high and we were the only customers in there, it still took them 15 minutes to make one sandwich. The taste was average and what you expect from a tonkatsu sandwich. There are no seats inside despite it having a long wooden table.

I ordered the chicken katsu sandwich and unfortunately, this is not their best on the menu. They make their chicken katsu with chicken breast which often times becomes very dry and flavorless when fried. The slices were also too big which made every bite more difficult. Most chicken katsu sandwiches are made with chicken thigh so a simple switch would improve this sandwich. The bread itself was delicious and fluffy as always. The katsu sauce + mayo they used was a flavorful nice touch but they add very little which also adds to the overall dryness of the sandwich.
