I'm not a fan of Chinese food but Brandy Ho's is awesome. The staff are friendly and the food is very good.

When my family and I walked in here, we were surprised to discover that we were the only people in the whole restaurant. It unfortunately reflected much of Chinatown too- there wasn't too much life when we went off Grant/Kearny St.The food was tasty- too salty but delicious when mixed with rice- but expensive. We ordered three entrees, two veggie appetizers, and rice but ended up paying $30 a person.Service was great- our server was very nice and the owner gave us some good recommendations.

Affordable, delicious, and fun. This is an old school an authentic SF Chinatown Hunan place. I have come a few times. I'd say it is a fun place to come with a group of people and maybe with co-workers for lunch or dinner. It's also a cool place to come and talk with friends and just hang out. They have screens too so you can also watch sports. It's not a hipster placet, but there's something warm there beyond style.

My husband has been talking about the hot ham and garlic at Brandy Ho's for 20 years. Finally, 30 years after his first visit, we made it here. We came for lunch and got the lunch special. Service was great. The additions were great and the main fantastic! Thankfully after building the food up for two decades, it did not disappoint. So good!

Great service, friendly staff! We came with a group and shared several dishes. Don't miss the fried or steamed dumplings with the ginger sauce - delicious! It was not crowded when we were there, food came out quickly.

Is this what real Hunan food is supposed to taste like? Unfortunately, this will be my first and last visit. The staff was nice, but service was slow. I was a bit turned off with some odd smell where I'm seated. This didn't make it a welcoming experience. The food was bland and overpriced. The smoked duck was disappointing. Even if it is the star dish, this tasted old and was all bones. However, there was nothing to complain about the dumplings but that's about it. I won't be coming back.

Delicious. Friendly (sort of). Tables are crowded together - but then you're in San Francisco. If you're going for Gluten Free Asian food, beware. The menu online makes it sound like they can prepare just about anything GF. Truth is, only a very limited number of items are available for customers with gluten allergies. What they have is tasty, but the selection is very limited.

IMPORTANT: Brandy Ho's "medium" is as spicy as some other places' "hot". If you're worried, get it mild. If you're looking to taunt the dragon, this is the place. You may be used to seeing red peppers in your Hunan dishes. Here they use a hot sauce which gives the flavor without the risk of accidentally swallowing a pepper. I've done that. Food quality and service are both very good. Favorites are the Harvest Pork and the Smoked Ham. Don't miss the crispy onion cake appetizer with peanut sauce! If you like seafood, try Brandy's Dinner. The ambiance is casual. They used to have a fancier location on Broadway years ago and another in the Castro, but this the original and now the only location. Good value for the price, and close to all the sights in North Beach and Chinatown. Recommended!

My family has been coming to this restaurant for over 30 years! The food here never disappoints! I thought I got a picture of our steamed fish, but I guess we dove into it too fast! The flavors of everything we ordered was on point and delicious! Glad to continue coming back here when we are in this part of town!
