We did a five-course, intimate, dessert tasting at Bellaria. Every item was hand-crafted, thoughtful, innovative, and delicious. It started off with savory bites before moving into the main attractions. Our party absolutely loved the Mandarin and White Tea dish with seabuckthorn and tonka. The Pear Tatin Roulade and Souffle Bread Pudding were expertly crafted and technically impressive. The Chocolate dish at the end was the perfect bite to end the meal. And everything (besides the caviar) was vegan!I can't wait to see what else comes out of this innovative dessert studio. The space is small so you'll have to sign up in advance for the tasting, but it makes it intimate and homey. The service was impeccable, and we even got to meet the chef and talk about his inspiration. It makes a great date night!

We were going to the other malasada place when we ran into this one at the Ferry Building. The malasadas looked fresh, and we thought we should try them. They were light and soft - as they should be. I'm not saying they were as good as Leonard's, but they were just fine for the Bay Area.BB

Smaller than a regular doughnut, but not too small. These are just the right size to put their generous fillings on display. So hard to choose a flavor, sometimes I just get one of each. Tried some of the cookies too, but they're not as wow worthy as the bomboloni.Nutella Bomboloni: This is such a pleasant indulgence for me. A very generous amount of Nutella fillings, like more than you'd spread on toast. Tastes excellent against the yeasty and sweet filled doughnut. I could eat this every day for breakfast, but thankfully they're only at the Ferry Building once a week.Raspberry Bomboloni: Another favorite. High quality raspberry jam stuffed inside that fluffy doughnut. No weird jelly-like gelatinous filling, more like they scooped it right out of the jam jar. Tastes tart and sweet and delicious.Pistachio Bomboloni: Kinda like custard with a subtle pistachio taste. Wish it was a bit stronger on the pistachio flavor.Custard Bomboloni: If you like creamy, this is for you. But personally, having eaten so many Boston Cream doughnuts over my life, I was missing the chocolate ganache contrast.Potato Chip Cookie: Like a regular chocolate chip cookie, but with a few potato chip pieces baked it. The extra crunch and saltiness is a nice addition. Though it's not revolutionary. Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie: Chocolate chip cookie with some peanut butter cup pieces and peanut butter baked into the cookie. A classic pairing.

- I went for the dessert Summer Tasting Menu: $75 includes tax, gratuity, and all fees, which is a good deal. It was the right amount of food, and a very nice experience. I recommend it. They have one big communal table, and a few seats at the window bar.- They do not yet have a liquor license, but you can byob. I highly recommend stopping at Woerner Liquors 2 blocks away to get chilled champagne to bring in.- Knock on the door; they keep it locked.- As of July 2023, they operate Saturdays only; they plan to expand to Fri/Sat/Sun. They also plan to offer an a la carte menu in addition to the tasting menu. There were two fails and five wins:2.0/5: Beverage: Mandarin and apricot shrub soda to start. It had a muddled, weak flavor, and got worse as the ice melted. All the more reason to byob.4.0/5: Intro bites: Vegan milk bread biscuit, berries, salted butter, Pickled bites. The Biscuit was heavenly light. Pickled items were ok.2.5/5: Snow peach sorbet with soft meringue, chopped peach, light syrup, violet petals: The texture was ok, but it lacked actual peach flavor: it was generic sweet, and skippable.4.5/5: Fig leaf panna cotta with hazelnut ice cream. Who knew that fig leaf tasted so good. The hazelnut ice cream had an extra kick of caramel, which was brilliant.4.8/5: Souffle bread pudding: a sweet simulation of a savory dish, using vegemite, caramel, coffee sauce, and black truffles. Sauce is phenomenal. Souffle is light but flavor-packed.4.8/5: Viennetta semifredo with cookie: The semifredo had dried cured black olives, which are almost like savory shaved chocolate. The chocolate chip cookie is super-dense and decadent.4.0/5: The surprise take-home gift was a fudge-like square covered with caramel topping.

The tiramisu bomboloni is spectacular!!! If you love tiramisu, donuts, or food in general, you need this in your life.It tastes exactly like tiramisu! Filled with mascarpone cheese, a coffee drizzle, and dusted with cocoa powder. The other flavors are winners as well, but this is a limited edition. Lucky for me, otherwise I would turn into a bomboloni from eating too many. https://48hills.org/2021/03/good-taste-snack-attack-tiramisu-bombolini-loaded-spuddy-buddies-tamale-care-packages/

While visiting the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market on Saturday, I happened to stumble upon Les Elements. Their stand is small and hidden in the back so it is easy to miss. However, their stand houses some very delicious treats. They offer cupcakes, cookies, profiteroles, scones and other baked goodies.I tried their cupcake and it was divine. Their cupcake is a Darjeeling tea cake, quince filling with a black pepper frosting. I have no idea what half of those ingredients are but it tastes awesome, lol. The quince filling tasted almost caramel like and was a sweet surprise. I overheard someone say that they have dreams about their cupcakes and I'm not surprised!I hope they add more items to their menu soon so I can try more yummy goodies! =)

Interesting pastries from a legit pastry chef? I'm in! I was initially attracted to this little stand at the Farmer's Market because their display case looked great. After glancing at the menu, I was immediately intrigued by all the interesting ingredients in the various pastries. Kale and chorizo biscuit, anyone?I had a difficult time deciding between the two scones they had that day: a pecan and pecan butter scone with a whiskey glaze, and the chocolate pistachio scone with pine. After speaking with the friendly guy (whom I assumed was also the owner/baker) behind the counter, I ended up taking his advice and got the pecan butter scone with whiskey. You know me, one word and I'm in: BOOZE!I ended up eating the scone after a hike over by Land's End, during my long drive back down to LA. I was very happy with the scone, which was pretty moist and not too dense as traditional English scones can be sometimes. The crumbs were pretty tender, with the pecan butter forming a nutty streusel throughout the triangular scone. I only wish the whiskey flavor in the sweet glaze was more prominent, just because more whiskey is always better. But then again, I was driving...

Pastries definitely looks attractiveGot lured into the choc candied pistachios scones for $3.25..wasn't worth it. Scones just sorta fell apart..not the texture I want for a good scone.
