While in the neighborhood, I stopped in to order a latte. It was very bitter for a latte, so that stood out to me in an unpleasant way even as someone who's already pretty sensitive to the bitterness of coffee - it did not taste good. The drink was also prepared at a high temperature, and took a while for it to cool down to a drinkable temperature, as well as making it a little unpleasant to hold even with the paper drink holder.Their bathroom is customers only.

I LOVE Alamo Square Cafe! When I ordered at the counter, the staff was so nice and friendly. It was a very chill and casual energy, and they had a delicious variety of sandwiches and coffees.I ordered a dirty chai latte, which was so yummy and not milky at all. I also ordered a bacon egg and cheese on an everything bagel, and they hand delivered it to me steaming and toasty. It was perfect - the cheese even stretched in strings like those amazing grilled cheeses. There are plenty of outlets, pretty artwork, and of course the location is stellar. The WiFi is quick as well. I cannot recommend this place enough.

hidden gem with HUGE sandwiches and so much filling encapsulated in thin, crispy dutch crunch rolls. the zebra mocha was also delicious--not too sweet and the espresso came through strong. would definitely come back to try other drinks and food

We stopped in to the Alamo Square Cafe before heading over to see the Painted Ladies on Friday. Every seat was filled, and for good reason! We had a short wait to order, but service was super friendly, and with only 2 people working, I thought it went quickly.I ordered the Pastrami on a Dutch crunch roll with provolone. This sandwich was HUGE and so so good!We also split a chocolate croissant that was as big as my face, and I also had a yummy matcha latte. This seems to be a pretty popular spot, and I absolutely recommend grabbing a sandwich and walking up to Alamo Park to enjoy it!Next time we're in San Francisco, I'm definitely coming back.

I came here twice while my time up in SF. My boyfriend and I stumbled upon it cuz we were staying in the other side of Alamo Square. The bagels were great, but nothing more exciting than a grocery store bagel. Their hot chocolate was one of the best hot chocolates i've ever had. I was kinda surprised about the reviews regarding service because we had 0 problems. Good service, food was hot, fast, and enjoyable. Would come back again.

Horrible service. Waited over 30 minutes only to walk up to the cashier for her to realize they passed up on my order. I politely asked for an explanation as to what happened, the first response was to refund my order. Not what I was expecting! But then again, can't expect anything better from this establishment. Smh!Lol. Nah, just wanna help other folks out! On another thought, the lack of professional courtesy from your establishment is quite a shame. Smh.

100th review of 2022 for the very first place I plunked down cash when I moved to San Francisco- to paraphrase Toy Story - "a bazillion years ago".Lighter, brighter with an atmosphere that makes you want to stay awhile sipping delicious coffee or tea.Sandwiches hit the bullseye, especially the pesto chicken sandwich ($13.50). Various toppings for bagels including Nutella, PB&J plus baked goods, Odwalla juices and 'stash in your backpack' Kind bars. The cafe opens at 7:30 (8am weekends) and closes at 4 (kitchen closes at 3:30).Go for the meatball sando or the basil pesto chicken and head up the block to Alamo Square for lunch on the grass. They also have salads if you're being good.Service and coffee, both excellent; a neighborhood classic.

Store bought bagels, stale coffee roasts, nothing worth going out of your way yet nothing wrong with enjoying the convenience of standard cafe fare, but why not just stick to percolator coffee? Why offer drinks you can't make? Hot espresso insulated under thick froth is not a cappuccino, it's a sure way to burn yo mouth multiple times as you check to see if it's cool enough to drink
