A friend of mine turned me on to this place. He used to be a regular. He's retired now so he "passed the torch" to me today. I'm happy to report this is a great spot worthy of your patronage. We both had the pastrami sandwich. I thought it was excellent. They come out of the oven hot and toasted with melted cheese. Flavor is excellent. They had a decent lunch time crowd but one of the workers was telling us after the place emptied out that they lost almost all of their business with FedEx, Mercedes and something else moving out after the pandemic. She said they survived but barely.I will be working nearby and I plan to go here often because the food is great, the place is clean and the staff is friendly. What's not to love?

Ordered the breakfast bagel and pastrami. Both very good. It's the type of pastrami I really like which doesn't have too much stringy fatty pieces. For any add on veggies it's like $1.10 which is pricy for a like a slice of tomato.

Great little spot you'd never know of but they have delicious sandwiches. I was very impressed with the quality of the pastrami and how they got my order perfectly the way I wanted it. Friendly and great place will come back again.

Got to admit, this little sandwich shop tucked away on a busy SOMA corner is pretty dang good! Served hot, just like many of their sandwiches, and just the right amount of bread to meat ratio. Parking can be tricky but this is worth it.

This is such a great place to grab lunch. I work from home and usually eat leftovers but there are times when there is no leftovers and I like to walk over to AK subs. I usually get the Philly cheesesteak and it just warms the soul. The price for the subs here is great and this place has a lot of regulars that keep on coming because of the subs and prices. The Philly costs about 13 dollars and you can't find that kind of deal in the city. They also are on doordash if it's to far to walk. I will be going back and I recommend this place to everyone who is looking for good lunch deals.

I went there to use my $10 doordash promo when I got there I waited 5 min at the window no body responding also the guy saw me and head me calling and pretends not gearing or seeing me at the window i kept calling then he finally came and told me that they don't take orders and that the register is down and that ihe is not able to take my order! What a lame excuse! So I give this place 1 star because of their rude and louzy service and misleading marketings. Place did not look clean and am not sure who is managing this place!!!

Super cool they've expanded east from their Richmond strongholds. I went with the Philly cheesesteak today and it was a pretty good one. Better than a lot of the places that just do cheesesteaks tbh. I'll give their meatball one a shot next time.

I can't believe I've been living in this neighborhood for so long yet never went into AK Subs. This part of town is a Mecca of great sandwiches and the sandwiches from AK have been some of the best.

Ordered the BBQ beef and Tony's Hot Pastrami. For the BBQ beef, the sweet roll was toasted and crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside. The beef was very tender but the BBQ sauce overwhelmed the overall sandwich. The sauce instead of complimenting the sandwich, obliterated the taste profile of the sandwich by masking the taste of the fresh roast beef to a tangy savory sauce. Tony's hot pastrami was more well balanced and very fresh meat. It was not overly salted but more so the perfect balance of a savory sandwich meat.
