The Local Pacific Beach

As far as night life:The local has good music more like house and pop. One weekends there is usually a line to get upstairs but a good time to get a drink at the lower bar while you wait. When you get upstairs, they have an outdoor rooftop area if you need a breather. A personal note; the Local has the BEST mirror selfie lighting for the girls lol. Their happy hour is Monday-Friday 4-7 and on Wednesday they have karaoke & on thursday they have trivia 7-9. The crowd is a mix of a college and post grad crowd, probably heavier on post grad. always a safe bet to go here!

Racism runs very strong in this establishment. I was walking in and had been carded. The bouncer reviewed my id for a good 2 minutes then examined it with a special light. Accused me of a fake ID!I'm 50 years old and look it! He even commented why I would need a fake id given how I looked and age. I produced two other identifications. One was a chase bank card. He informed me that the "banks don't know what their doing!" I informed him you need a valid drivers license and a corroborated ssn card, with a thorough Background check. He denied my entrance. I was wearing a suit and just started the night with no alcohol..A onlooker informed me the bouncer is very racist.I know this review will be passed over by management but I believe this should be investigated. Look at the cameras and see if the same attention was paid to other 16 year olds entering this establishment.The police shouldn't turn a deaf ear to this place which propagates racism!

Check your tab here before paying! Several items were added to the bill that I did not order and things were not the prices shown on the menu. When I told the waitress it was wrong, instead of altering the tab, she challenged me and told me I was wrong. I even showed her the prices on the menu which were not matching what was on the bill, but she insisted the price was correct. I wouldn't return somewhere that doesn't charge advertised prices for things!

It was Super Bowl Sunday and super packed. My friends decided to go here (last minute). Obviously it took 30 min to find parking a half mile away lol. The place was standing room only when I got there but their set up was pretty nice with the huge screen in the large outdoor space. I didn't like that they did not carry cognac at all! But they did have $6 dollar specials. It was a cool vibe and funny with all the inebriated characters. We eventually landed a table around the fourth quarter. The bus boys were a little aggressive and almost pushed me over on to people sitting when I went to the restroom. Anyways, I ordered popcorn chicken and fries. My friend ordered a taco and nachos. My chicken was really good. Loved the crispy skin on it which had a slight sweetness to it. They came with about 15-20 pieces which I could have had two of them but didn't want to wait (I'm greedy, I know). I didn't care for the nachos as I did try them which had too much mushed beans on it for my liking. This spot seems to be a nice hangout spot. They were playing great music after the game which was hip hop/pop. They had a DJ upstairs which was a huge space. Everyone was having a good time (including my group) and actually dancing or at least trying too haha. Would come back for the vibe alone!

Came on Thursday Trivia night and it was SO fun! Our group sat upstairs and the views of the sunset over the waters was PHENOMENAL! Bring a jacket or blanket though if you get cold easily like me . They had happy hour so our food and drinks were discounted! Very fair prices. We got the popcorn chicken and nachos, both were yummy and had large portions.Tip: If you arrive early you get to enter into a "chugging" competition and if you win you get free drinks! (No, our group didn't win )

Came here for the Bills game. Didn't arrive before the game so we had a hard time finding a seat. It's open seating and definitely a party when there's a bills game with a large projector screen in the outdoor space with picnic benches and bleachers. If you're looking for a good bar to support the Bills this is the place to find the Bills Mafia. The watermelon Fresca cocktail and delicious and the nachos were a good portion. Overall we would come again but early. Lesson learned.

Trivia night! So much fun! We were in San Diego for my daughter's college graduation. She brought us all to her favorite spot in Pacific Beach. Drinks & apps were 50% off for happy hour, everything we ordered was delicious. Trivia started around 7pm, the host is amazing! We took a Lyft up & back from our hotel so we didn't have to deal with parking. Popular place, fills up quickly! Seating upstairs and down, inside and outside.

I'm only giving 1 star bc the music was so damn loud. I'm not some old man who's complaining either. At 500 pm, you literally couldn't hear each other talk. So annoying. No reason at 5 pm for the music to be that loud. If they just turned it down a bit it would have been perfect. Obviously, we didn't stay for drinks or food. Not sure if will return.

We had an absolute blast at Saturday Bingo Brunch! Our first time here will not be our last. The place was not super busy which was surprising because everything was awesome! Location, food, beverages, service, bingo... we were all very impressed. We had no problem finding street parking nearby. We'd reserved a table for 7 at noon upstairs for bingo (early Mother's Day lunch). They have a nice large "front yard" and restaurant with a bar downstairs. Upstairs is where the magic happens. Bright and airy indoor seating with an outdoor balcony available. Huge bar with dozens of beers on tap. Great cocktail menu. We ordered the champagne tower which came with various juices to choose your own mimosa adventure. The brunch board was incredible, included perfect pancakes, churro waffles (yum!), French toast, flaky biscuits and gravy, thick cut bacon, delicious sausage and eggs, berry compote. We literally ate every single thing on the board. We also got the chilaquiles (perfection), biscuits and legit sausage gravy with breakfast potatoes, eggs Benedict, Bloody Mary, and a couple other cocktails, I can't think of the name but the one in a conch shell was sooo good!All the food we tried was superb, fresh ingredients, well seasoned, large portions, reasonably priced. Our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and took great care of us the entire time. Bingo was next level fun and the host was pure entertainment. He engaged with everyone in the place and truly made our brunch experience amazing. The games and challenges were so much fun! You can tell a lot of thought went into it making it a fantastic experience. New favorite brunch place in PB! Highly recommend!

Katie was our server today for happy hour and she was so helpful! Really tasty drinks and it wasn't too busy either. Somewhat loud but that is to be expected in the busy area of pacific beach! Highly recommendI'd like to add something else that's for management only and NOT for any server/bartender... the photos that you show on your menu for happy hour do not represent what is served. Please update the photos for happy hour quantity. Love coming to this place but that feels like I'm being deceived by the menu pictures
