The field is such a solid spot. Honestly, the best Irish pub food that I have ever had. The place is dog friendly, and features outdoor seating, indoor seating, and upstairs seating near a window that is open to the outside. You can order a variety of cocktails and imported beers, sadly no pimm's cup however. I am always so surprised by the quality of the food that I get from the field, it is actually high quality even if you didn't consider that it's a pub. If you're looking for a star of the show menu item, I would say that they have the most surprisingly soft and moist bread pudding in all of San Diego.

This was one of our go to places when our lived in San Diego but we have not been here for probably over 10 years! In town for a work trip and not willing to eat the sushi that had been standing - a group of us headed here and it was a great pick!Still has the same charm with the cute Irish interior whiz is really fun and inviting! Great service throughout the night and some good British favorites!Had the fish n chips with a side of curry sauce and it was so good ! Everyone loved the food and a great time was had by all! Still the salad great place I remember

Went 1st as part of a walking food tour. Returned after for the drinkIrish mule was amazing. Would order again and againGot a thimble of shepherd pie. The mashed potatoes were dry. Staff were aloof but ok for both visits. Lots of places to drink in Gaslamp and multiple Irish pubs. Would only come back for the Irish mule.

This is a wonderful, well executed and authentic looking Irish pub in the heart of the Gaslamp District in San Diego. I'm Irish, have been to my share of Irish pubs in Ireland and this place is about as close to the real deal as you can get in the states. They pour a "proper pint" as the Irish say, of Guiness that is, as doing so properly is an art form of sorts. They have a proper selection of pub grub, excellent Irish breakfast and the usual Irish fare. They also have an extensive list of fine whiskeys. If you're ever down here, it's worth a go.Word of caution however, watch out for their 4% surcharge on the bill for "uncontrollable costs", whatever that is. These absurd surcharges are going to start impacting the tips left for the servers, as well as the patronage of the establishment eventually, which is unfortunate and in bad form.

We recently had reservations for a large group of us here. We were purposely dressed up to the nines in 20-40's theme. This was a fun Irish night out with my Dapper Club friends. They serve Irish cuisine and play authentic Irish music. My friends who are well cultured even sang along to many of the songs. Cheers for the extra entertainment. The neighboring table guests were happily intrigued as well. The staffers were quite accommodating and the service was great. They embodied much kindness and patience with us. I personally had their fish n chips. Pretty much a staple dish that I try at most places that serve it. It was perfectly breaded and was generous with the cod pieces as well. I enjoyed the fresh & plump chips. I love places that already have malt on the table. That's usually an indicator for me that their fish n chips are a main hit there! Their cocktails had fun names. I had Lux Of The Irish. It was very smooth and not too over the top with the flavoring. A delicious compliment to my dinner & experience. I'd definitely recommend coming here if you are interested in the Irish heritage. For an American place it felt like I traveled to another place entirely.

The Field Irish Pub located in the San Diego Gaslamp area was chosen by a friend as a spot to enjoy a couple of pints and a meal while catching up, and having been there several years before, I welcomed the idea.Upon arrival we were met by a young lady at the entrance and she promptly allowed us to enter when we chose to sit at the bar counter. "End of pleasant experience!".Once seated the bartender was reluctant to assist us, somewhat brash, and unfriendly. We ordered pints, and were rushed to select our meals. I selected the Cornbeef Sandwich, and my friend chose the Fish 'N Chips which I passed on because I had previously had fish a few days prior. The food arrived and the french fries were raw, and tasteless, and I was reluctant to return them due to the bartender's mood. In addition, I could not wrap my head around how you could toast one side of one half of the sandwich and the other three sides be raw and soggy. Terrible sandwich. My friend enjoyed the fish but did not consume the fries.I should have given my sandwich to the basset hound sitting in the lap of the gentleman next to me because the dog was very interested.Took some photos, and we departed. Will NEVER return

My spouse and I are big enthusiasts of Irish pubs, and we've found one in the Gaslamp District that has become our go-to spot. Remarkably, it seldom has long queues, but remember, like any respectable bar, identification is required for entry. The atmosphere is deeply rooted in Irish tradition--the decor, the music, and even the staff's hospitality transport you straight to Ireland. The servers are exceptionally welcoming, enhancing the already charming ambiance. One of the highlights is their drinks menu, which is both extensive and impressive, featuring a wide range of Irish beverages. They offer a variety of flavored Irish coffees, ranging from Oreo to peppermint, catering to diverse palates. Our personal favorite is the hot Irish coffee topped with cream; it's not only warming but also remarkably potent, delivering an authentic taste that we absolutely adore. We often start our visit with some appetizers, and they've never disappointed. On our last visit, we opted for the onion rings and chicken wings served with ranch dressing--both were delectably prepared and left us wanting more.To sweeten the deal, I joined their rewards program, which comes with a special discount. It's a decision I'd recommend to anyone looking for that extra incentive. For those seeking an exclusive experience, this bar ticks all the boxes. They also offer upstairs seating, which provides a fantastic view of Gaslamp Street--a feature we particularly enjoy. For anyone in search of a genuine Irish bar experience, this place in the Gaslamp District is a must-visit. Its traditional vibe, coupled with an exceptional selection of drinks and appetizers, guarantees a memorable outing.

Saw that they serve bottomless mimosas for $25. They pretty much just give you OJ with a splash of Champagne. By our 4th cup, we actually laughed at the refill; it didn't even taste bubbly. The ladies who served us were nice though. My only complaint was the juicing down the mimosa that badly...
