The Calypso Café

Soulful local spot with great parking and splendid marina. The owner was very welcoming and gracious. They have extensive breakfast, brunch and dinner options. Variety of wines to distress and non-alcoholic drinks to re-thirst yourself. It was impressive to know that location grew from coffee cart to multiple rooms with front and back patio. They need to work on their social media schedulingupdates. We came back a week later to find out that they were closed. Otherwise definitely be back!

A perfect lunch spot if you work on the strand, a hidden gem.Was brought here by a work friend and was not disappointed! The small owned business was SO friendly and pleasant to interact with. They have daily specials and a good variety of food from sandwiches, salads and pasta.Unfortunately it was raining when we came however there is a nice view of the harbor. And you pay AFTER you eat at the counter, that really makes the atmosphere seem very chill. I enjoyed a Greek salmon salad, the salmon was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the taste and amount of dressing was on point. The serving size was large , I probably could have used more olives or cucumber but I won't whine too much.

Had lunch here today and it was excellent. We had a burger and the Italian sub sandwich and both were very good. Atmosphere and customer service are top notch as well.

Owner greeted us welcoming us in taking our 2 orders so food would be ready at same time. Such a wonderful employee delivered our food with a beautiful smile informing us that they were going to start having early bird dinners a few nights week extending their hours those nights to 6 pm. Beautiful seating outside!

Love this place. It's our go to for breakfast whenever we stay at Silver Strand SB. Friendly service with great food on the water.

We highly recommend My husband and I stumbled across this cute little Café in Coronado and fell in love. Once we realized they had Lamb Shank we just had to give it a try. My husband, Alex is a big fan of Lamb. We were pleasantly surprised by how authentic the dish was!Very flavorful and tender. All the sides were delish as well.The service was top notch! Hanan (the owner, I believe) was very welcoming and knowledgable about the food and the area. She took good care of us every time. Such a pleasant experience.We have gone back a few times since then and have tried other meals on their menu. The eggs Benedict, Gyros, Coffee, sandwiches, oh and don't get me started on their freshly baked pastries!!!!!Highly recommend them!!

From the moment we walked into the restaurant, the service provided to our group was so disappointing, not by the employees but I believe she was the owner. I had called few days ahead to make breakfast reservation for party of 5 but I understand it was not guarantee which was fine. When we arrived an hour early to the reservation, 10am instead of 11am, I was trying to be courtesy to let the cashier/owner know that we were early, she was just plain rude. She kept telling us they are busy, IT WAS NOT. My friends were able to find us a table as I placed food order. I ordered enough food for us to share, immediately the cashier/owner wants to charge us $2.50/plastic utensils and $1.50 for a cup of hot water. Ridiculous!! I get it, prices went up on everything but to make us feel like we're different from your other customers. That's plain wrong. I gave a 1 stars for their wonderful employees, location, and food was not bad but to recommend to this restaurant to anyone, I'm not.

For our 29 wedding anniversary, my wife and I decided to vacation in Coronado, California. During our 3-day vacation, we stumbled upon this quaint little restaurant. We were super impressed with the owner Hanan who couldn't have been more pleasant, warm and welcoming. Because it was in the morning we ordered breakfast. I ordered eggs w/gyros and potatoes. My wife ordered their Calypso breakfast which included the standard two eggs, sausage, potatoes and toast. Both our meals arrived hot and perfectly prepared as ordered. We noted that both our meals were perfectly seasoned and very tasty. We also were blown away by the beautiful setting of the outside seating. The views overlooking the Coronado Cays canal was priceless. When you combine the wonderful spirit of Hanan with the well prepared meal and setting, we can't help but give Calypso Cafe a "5-star" review.

1st time we went we placed a handful of snack items on counter, the owner rang up imaginary prices totaling $80!! I was like um excuse me?! so she subtracted a few things Flustered bc I guess she expected me to just pay Second time she had sign on door saying closing at 3. It was 2 and she wouldn't open the door. Had people shopping inside. When we got back into our car she let 2 other people in. So weird. She knows nothing about running a business. We won't ever go back!
