This was a recommendation from my little sister who lived in town at first impressions. The line was pretty long and the parking around the area was horrendous on the Saturday night.Took almost 20 minutes to find parking I saw cars parking in the legal spots . Fast-forward to ordering, and there's lots of cool flavors and not too much on the list which keeps it not too overwhelming. The toffee was absolutely amazing flavor, and those little toffee bits . I ended up getting mango sticky rice, ice cream and at first thought I'd figured it would be a gimmick flavor, but holy cow.I wasn't sure what I was expecting for this flavor, but they knocked it out of the park. The coconut ice cream base was perfect and remind me of eating that coconut sticky rice. You eat that you get those layers of mango and altogether every lick tasted just like mangoes sticky rice, which was absolutely wild. If you come here get it and you won't be disappointed. The smores was also so good. You get those toasted marshmallow bits throughout.

Stella Jean's ice cream is stellar!!! Small batch ice cream made with love and it shows! Central location but parking is doodoo. Nice they have some seating outside for customers to enjoy their treat. It's summer and what a better time for ice cream for dinner! Who's counting calories? No need, let all your good days be so worth it on a cheat day for Stella Jeans ice cream! The shop is small, the staff is friendly. Love the sample spoons are reusable to reduce waste and pollution to our environment and our planet, super brownie points for that! Not many flavors to choose from, but who needs many options when all of them are super delicious! Ordered a split single of the ube pan de Sal toffee and milk cookies. Hang on to your socks! This combo is perfection! The ube flavor is mild yet rich, with some slight crisp, not too hard not too soft, just right. The milk cookies name says enough, like a literal dip of your cookie in milk. The two together pair to create excellence. Loved the flavors so much that I came back and got the pints from their fridge to enjoy at home, might be a mistake for my mid section but who cares, eating this ice cream is a different level of self care I encourage everyone to check it out!

Stella Jean's Ice Cream offers exceptional service that stands out even during peak times. Despite the long lines, the staff manages to provide smooth and efficient service. They are incredibly friendly and patient, especially when customers are sampling the diverse ice cream flavors. The level of care and attention from the workers contributes significantly to the overall positive experience. The ice cream quality is also nothing short of impeccable. It has quickly become my favorite ice cream spot due to its rich and creamy texture, coupled with unique and inventive flavors like ube pandasal and mango sticky rice. As someone who specializes in making Asian-flavored ice cream at home, I can confidently say that Stella Jean's produces some of the highest quality and most flavorful ice cream available. Their use of premium ingredients results in a superior product that surpasses what I can achieve on my own. While the shop itself may not offer much space for lounging, the experience is enhanced by the opportunity to enjoy your ice cream outside. The pleasant San Diego weather provides the perfect setting for savoring your treat in the cool evening air. This small trade-off is easily outweighed by the quality of the ice cream and the overall positive atmosphere of the place.

I waited in line for a good 15 minutes to get some ice cream and I say it was well worth it. The person who helped me was informative and friendly. I was pleasantly surprised by my first bite. The mango sticky rice ice cream tasted exactly like mango sticky rice -- the coconut cream and mango flavors were equally present and truly delicious. The ube and pandesal toffee ice cream was amazing. I found myself in awe of how deep the flavor was. The split scoop was the perfect amount of ice cream for me. It's a small storefront but there is some outdoor seating which is nice. Overall, I had a great experience and I can understand the hype.

Delicious! And such fun flavors. I ordered guava cream cheese after trying POG and Brown Butter Pecan. All 3 flavors were absolutely delicious. Very creamy and true to their names. The flavors were rich but not overwhelming. Service was great. Employees were very patient and sweet. They let me try numerous flavors and gave recommendations. They also have separate lines for purchasing pints and scoops which expedites the experience for customers who are just grabbing a pint to go (which we did after our cones). The inside of the shop is small and can only fit a few folks in a line at a time. They have tables and seating outside in a parklet. The painting on the walls was really nice and cute.Overall, great ice cream with unique flavors.

I can't comment on the location because we bought through Uber eats, but I can comment on the ice cream!!! They packed it up really nice and everything was still cold! The ube pandasal was incredible! So addicting and yummy. And the ice cream sandwhich we got was so good. The walnut cookie was salt and sweet and the ice cream was a buttery flavor similar to butter pecan! Brought back a lot of memories! Def will be coming to try more flavors!

My personal favorite ice cream in SD! Their Ube and Brown Butter Pecan flavors are SO good. All the flavors are sweet and buttery rich. You can take your ice cream and eat it next door to their sister establishment pop pie co btw! (Since there's no seating inside) The workers are always super friendly and it's a bright and clean store.

Came here for dinner (dessert) with my family. My dad really enjoyed Stella Jean's Ice Cream because of their unique flavor combinations. The very first time we went my dad had a honey rosemary orange zest ice cream and a cold brew ice cream. These weren't heavy, nicely smooth, and delicious flavors. I had the mango sticky rice and campfire s'mores. Anyways, when I came here with my mom and brother. The interior was nice and clean. They had photos of the ice cream with descriptions. The worker was very kind and welcoming. We got a good tasting spoon of whichever flavors we asked of. I did a split scoop cup with my mom. We got the strawberry basque cheesecake and the ube pandesal toffee. The strawberry basque cheesecake was perfectly baked. It wasn't overly sweet or cheesy. The strawberry cake through well. The ube tasted very strong and sweet. This time we had more of the toffee throughout the ice cream which was super tasty. It was better than the time I bought a pint for my dad. I used to not like this flavor because of how light the ube was but they've improved it. I also tasted the double chocolate which was divine. I would get this in a split scoop with the strawberry basque cheesecake next time for sure! My brother is lactose intolerant and thankfully Stella Jeans has a good amount of flavors that are vegan. They also have gluten free flavors and I believe their cones are gluten free as well. He chose the strawberry oat crumble and said the flavor was tasty.Overall, great and unique ice cream and a cute location. We did street parking by Lestat's. After 6pm on the metered streets we luckily didn't need to pay. Prices aren't bad. There's no interior seating, but they have wall tables where you can stand and eat. Or they have outdoor seating-- in an extended area on the street. It can get loud, dusty, etc at times. Recommend this spot! They have a few locations so go check them out.

For it being the end of the night, for a line that wrapped around the corner, the workers still had a smile on their face and were super sweet. They asked everyone if it was the first time there and what flavors they'd like to try. The place is small and well lit. Only a few people can be in there at a time. You can grab a pint and head straight to the cashier or stand in line and get a cone or cup. I went with two scoops. One scoop was Ube, which is their most popular flavor, and the other scoop was Burnt Honey and Goat Cheese. The two scoops plus a sugar cone cost about 10 dollars not including tax. They have about 12 flavors and 4 of them are rotating / seasonal. They also have merchandise for sale. Solid place. Google says they have cookies to make ice cream sandwiches. Didn't see any which was a shame and the reason why I came here.

It ain't cheap but it's very good.I appreciate that they offer unique flavors like Ube and strawberry Basque cheesecake, whatever that is. You can get ordinary vanilla and chocolate anywhere (although they do offer variations of chocolate).Very friendly service and the line moves fairly quickly.Quality ice cream here.
