Wow, not sure what's happened something has certainly changed and absolutely for good. I've have gone to the Sportsmen on and for a few years. Never super great, just your usually greasy fried fish, and to be honest not great service, a quick reasonable meal, BUT. My husband and I stopped there after taking the pup for a walk. I got the Shark sandwich with fries and my husband got the fried seafood plate as well as a bowl of clam chowder. I'm going to start with hubby's meal. I judge by how the squid is, it was fried light and was so tender, I was amazed. The clam bits were tasty, the fish also light and tasty, shrimp looked good but I passed on that. The clam chowder, well I wasn't a super fan, but my husband loved it, so I'll just chalk that one up for different tastes ( I am a east coaster so clam chowder has to be a certain way). My shark sandwich was great, it was on a fresh brioche bun, lettuce and tomato and the shark was fresh, cooked well and nicely seasoned. There fries are really good with some type of added breading. They came with tartar sauce and cocktail sauce which were really good. The service was good as well, friendly, helpful, and they checked back with us. Almost like night and day I hope this change sticks, I know we'll be checking back. If you're Quivira Basin check it out.

Food: ordered fish and chips. Tasted ok, but the batter got all soggy and fell off the fish. Halibut taco was good. The drink fountain could do with a little cleaning. Seevice: You get charged a 4% supplement charge. When I asked what it was for, the lady had no idea. She couldn't tell me why it was charged. An employee who can't explain something to a customer is bound to not give good customer service. Ambiance: Holy cow!!!?? This place looks like it was last renovated back in the 70s. Furniture looks like it was bought from another restaurant that closed. The floors are a mess. The little window you order through makes this place even more sketchy. The only saving grace about dining here is the view to the marina. If the view wasn't there,I'd get depressed eating here. I recommend taking your food to go.

Every time we come to San Diego, I must have their Halibut fish and chips. My fiancé is really picky and he also loves their fish. Always busy, great customer service and apparently also great beer according to my "beer connoisseur" fiancée " "Green flash IPA"

I wish yelp could do half stars too because this deserves 3.5 stars. After doing the whale watching tour, decided to eat here for dinner since the smell of the food was very inviting. We decided on the fried seafood platter since it had a little bit of everything: clams, calamari strips, 1 fish filet, and 2 shrimps and came with fries, a large chowder and side of garlic bread. The seafood platter was good for 2-3 people, depending on how hungry you are. It was mostly clams but typical fried seafood and the taste was good. The calamari was a bit chewy so it was the least favorite. The chowder was delicious and the side of garlic bread when dipped into the chowder was so yummy. We weren't expecting to enjoy as much as we did but glad we tried this place out. The place itself is big, tables available inside as well as a few tables outside to enjoy the view. bathrooms were clean but forThose with little ones, they do not have changing tables just FYI. The staff working on Sunday evening 1/28 were also very nice! I imagine they get a lot of business from those who do the sunset cruises and whale watching tours. Perfect spot to be in! Would recommend if you are near the area!

Stopped at Sportsmen's Seafood for lunch with some friends. Our friends own a boat which was our mode of transportation. We docked near the restaurant and walked over. We found a table outside for the four of us. It is an order at the counter, wait for your name to be called then go retrieve your food kind of situation. The dude behind the counter was totally cool and helpful. I ordered one each Ahi taco $4.75, Shrimp taco $5.50 and a small Clam Chowder $5.80. Becky opted for one of her favorites, Fish and Chips $12.60, which is purportedly their specialty. The ahi taco was really good. A generous portion of fish, perfectly grilled, nicely dressed and in a very good corn tortilla. They remembered to omit the guac as (sadly) I am allergic. As good as the ahi taco was, the shrimp was even better. Plump shrimp lightly battered and fried to perfection. I loved the shrimp taco. I could've eaten a half dozen of them! The chowder was delicious. Thick and creamy and lots of clams. It was really good.Becky's fish n' chips were stellar. They claim this to be their specialty and they nailed it. The fish batter was light and the fish inside was flaky and moist. Man! It was good. And the fries! Wow! I don't know if they're double fried or what, but they were outstanding! They had Pacifico on tap which was great for me. Mango was the only White Claw flavored offered and Bex hates mango. She settled for a can of Truly. Definitely want to return to Sportsmen's Seafood. What a great lunch spot!

Was down here at Quivira Way and on way to the entrance of the channel. Always saw this place passing by and friend suggested it, so gave it a try. The outside of the building looked a little ragged and worn. Inside was in need of something. Price for 2 fish tacos wasn't too bad. Upon opening the 'to go box' I see that they put their fish tacos on flour tortillas. What!!!! Oh well. The tacos were edible but no reason to return even though they say they're "the best fish in town".I would look at their health scores as I definitely wouldn't have made a stop if I had seen them prior.( https://www.yelp.com/inspections/sportsmens-seafood-san-diego-2 )Hopefully they'll take care of these issues/scores.

Just kickin' it outside and enjoying the view of the boats at dock. This is an unassuming place at the docks that serves basics: fried and grilled fish with chowder and the fixin's. Not fancy. Super helpful and friendly staff here that go out of their way to serve you! I wasn't blown away by my meal but in hindsight I should've ordered the fish 'n chips which I was told was their specialty. I would return without hesitation for a cold beer and to try their fish 'n chips!

I'm pretty sure the fish n chips they served me were frozen fish sticks from Costco, heated up in the microwave. They used to be so good too.

Nice little place we rolled up to. Definitely cannot complain about the view. Had the Clam chowdy. Not my favorite but wasn't bad. Could have been thicker, and had more clams in my opinion. The Ahi tacos were really good though. More of like aLittle hole in wall so no need to dress fancy lol. ^_^
