Rising Sun Sushi

Rising Sun Sushi is exactly what you would expect from a mall food court Sushi place...just OK. This place is fairly new to the food court. The staff is great. Very friendly and polite but those are the highlights. I ordered their basic California Rolls and it was again, just OK. I read other reviews that the rolls did not appear fresh. I did not experience that. Our roll was fresh and tasted good, but it was nothing special. It was as good as the grocery store sushi I get at Smart and Final. My biggest issue was how seriously overpriced everything on the menu was for the portion sizes. There is a Japanese teppanyaki-style place in the same food court, that no longer has shrimp tempura. So I came to Rising Sun to order some. The price was $8.95 for 4 pieces of shrimp. In comparison, the other place charged $3.95 for 3 pieces. When I received my order, I was very disappointed in the size of the shrimp. They were half the size of the normal shrimp I get from the other place. They also used a different kind of Panko style breading that was not very good. I really wanted to like this place, because the employees were very nice. But when you compare the food to all the other options in the food court, this place is not the best value.

Honestly, I wasn't expecting a lot from Mall food court sushi. But we needed somewhere to have an early dinner while waiting for traffic to die down. For some reason we were craving sushi burritos, and this place had them. I didn't have high hopes, especially after we got our food and had a lovely view of the ice rink downstairs. It's a mall so don't expect much ambience. But surprisingly the food was decent, fresh, came out quickly and good value. So two thumbs up if you are in the area and looking for a decent Sushirrito.FYI this place is in the very back of the food court by the ice rink. We got kind of lost looking for it and ended up going outside and back in. Just go all the way through the food court to the right. Also, keep it, keep in mind that Westfield now charges for parking so if you can get in and out of there in under two hours, you don't have to pay for parking.

I got spicy beef ramen and it's very mediocre. The noodle has zero texture, the soup tastes like a mix between light miso soup and normal ramen soup with some Chinese chili paste (that's the orange thing on top of the ramen in the picture). The service was quite weird. They moved at a very slow pace and mumbled I almost couldn't understand. Save your money and eat sinning else.

I feel bad, because the customer service was very good and both of the employees (a man and a woman) were literally SO sweeet! but the sushi just wasn't great. definitely food court vibes. Rice didn't taste fresh, cucumbers were so crunchy - you just know when something's off. The sauce wasn't too good. But id you're craving sushi, hopefully this satisfies it!

A pleasant surprise! I had the bento box combo with a california roll, salad, rice, and chicken teriyaki. The salad was fresh but a bit odd to me with more of an Italian dressing. However, the chicken teriyaki was very flavorful and the california roll was tasty and fresh. The employee taking my order was nice. The price seemed fair for the quality and amount of food I got. I would happily eat here again!

The food was not fresh tasting at all the salad was old and wilted the chicken teriyaki no flavor at all. Waste of money!

Looking for a nice family owned restaurant with great food then here you have it. Always great energy and good vibes here while you enjoy good sushi after shopping.

Oh my gosh the teriyaki chicken was horrible. Do better!!!I wish I read the reviews before trying this place.

I wish I had looked at the reviews for this place before spending $20 on food that went directly in the trash. The teriyaki was tasteless steamed chicken, how can rice taste so bad? Don't waste your $$$.
