Seems to be closed (6903 is now a taco place). I don't have anything else to say, but Yelp requires 85 characters, so here you are.

This chicken and seafood shack in the Rolando/La Mesa area recently had an ownership change about a month ago. Rays Chicken & Seafood currently has a grand opening promotion of 15% off the entire menu. The inside setup remained the same with a service counter to the right as you walked in the front entrance and a large dining area to the left. The menu screens were above the counter while fresh seafood items were on display in an adjacent glass case.Seafood combos, fish and chips, chicken combos, and sides were the main categories. Two burgers and a cheesesteak sandwich also snuck onto the menu. All of the combos were served with french fries while the seasoning for the chicken/fish was either cajun or mild. There were five fish options... red snapper, catfish, tilapia, basa, and cod. Basa was an Asian subtype of catfish which I had not seen offered before until my visit here.My selection was the first seafood combo on the list which was two pieces of fish and six medium shrimp. I asked for cod and mild seasoning. The food took over 15 minutes to prepare which I thought was long for a fry. The plate came with a piece of garlic bread in addition to the fish, shrimp, and french fries. The shrimp were overcooked as the batter was too crunchy. The cornmeal breading on the cod was plain and didn't adhere that well to the fillets. I should have requested the cajun seasoning because the mild had little flavor. The fries were the best executed item in the combo.Compared to its predecessor, I didn't think Rays was a substantial improvement in the quality of the seafood products I tried. Perhaps the chicken strips and wings were better choices. The dining space was great with multiple flat screens along one wall for the viewing of sporting events. Three stars was my rating for the dining experience I had at Rays Chicken & Seafood.

So Ray's is picking up where Adalynes left off. With exception to seasoning of the 10 Piece Fish requested Cajun seasoning. Unfortunately to our dismay. It was just catfish fried in cornmeal. Just bland no flavor. We also tried out the Chicken Wings (24pc.)Combo total opposite of the fish. It was seasoned well not overly or undercooked. We also ordered a Fries (Jumbo) but there wasn't much but a large in a Jumbo Styrofoam container. And lightly seasoned barely taste the season salt. And some fries were soft & others hard but none were burned nor overcooked. We had our food delivered, and were surprised the containers were Styrofoam, thought restaurants aren't allowed to use Styrofoam due to they're not good for our health CA passed law not long ago. (long overdue) However its best to make holes on top for ventilation reduce condensation & keep the food from becoming soggy while in route. The facility inside is spacious & clean maybe holds up to 50 to dine in. There's also tvs as well & public restrooms. The restaurant opened late October so we will hove another try in a couple months see if there were any improvements or suggestions taken.

This place just opened. I had the Philly cheesesteak, fries, and I tried their potato salad. The french fries were excellent, mainly due to the seasoning that was on them. The cheesesteak seemed kind of average to me. Probably could've used more cheese and seasoning. The potato salad was OK. The potatoes were a little bit undercooked. And one more a little bit of feedback for the owners. Do you know how some places have the awesome ranch dressing? This is just the OK stuff. I live close by and I want this place to succeed. So I'll stop back by and try some other stuff.

Ordered the 3 piece catfish and chips. Everything was deliciously seasoned and cooked perfectly. The meal was big enough for my daughter and myself. We'll be back soon to try the other menu items!

We had this the other night and I really wanted to like it. Unfortunately service was slow and the fries were pale and undercooked. The fried chicken was a little tough and somehow also not crunchy. Three stars for the flavor of the Cajon spice rub, sauce variety and kind workers.
