We stopped in today on our way to San Diego from Phoenix - what a great choice! I loved everything about this adorable diner/saloon. The place is decorated adorably and set in the most beautiful scenic mountain backdrop. Staff were friendly, we were seated immediately. Between 5 of us, we had the 3 bean vegan chili and house salad, grilled cheese and blackened fries, BLT and garlic/parm fries, chicken tenders, and the turkey avocado croissant w fries. Everything was delicious, I LOVED the chili!!! Looks like they also have fun events in the evenings - karaoke and line dancing for instance! Definitely recommend!

For those stopping through Pine Valley, stop here food is great. Just a great simple breakfast spot where the coffee is super hot, pancakes cooked perfectly. And the service was great. It's a great spot l.

Came here after a moto ride for some warm food, and that's what I got! I got the chicken stew bowl, which was a nice sized portion and quite tasty. It also came with some cornbread that was very good. The staff were certainly nice as well. The place has a rustic look to it.

Excellent place to grab a bite. We were in town from 30 mins away or so and stopped with some family members who recently moved to Pine Valley area. Great cozy mountain vibes atmosphere and excellent food. The waitstaff was kind, attentive and did a great job handling our group of 10, including lots of drinks orders and keeping the kids in the group happy. This will definitely be somewhere we go again next time we are out that way!

I had to wait for the rain to clear so I could continue my bike ride back to San Diego, so I decided to have some breakfast. Glad I had to wait! The Ranch Hand is everything I typically want in a country breakfast: bacon, eggs, potatoes with onions and peppers and biscuits and gravy. The potatoes were exceptional and plenty of bacon. (Amazing the difference between three slices and four.) Orange juice was good, but not fantastic. And a decent cup of coffee.Great service. Nice diner vibe.

Long-time Patrons No Longer PatronizingWe have been coming here since 2021, and have eaten at PVH somewhere around 70-80 times. Mostly dinner, but certainly a couple dozen breakfasts (both PVH when they were doing that, and more recently Major's offerings), as well as a few lunches.I can't say we've ever had a bad meal. That's really saying something, but unfortunately great food isn't everything. The servers, and more importantly the service, leave a lot to be desired. Some servers have been great over the years, but it's rare to see the same server for more than a few weeks. And I'd say 70% of servers just don't know how to be good servers, never mind great.Let me explain what happened recently, and why we will no longer patronize Pine Valley House. Our Server was Kym C.We ordered a couple of house drinks, and made very clear by specifying HOUSE drinks. We already know the prices. When we got the bill, we saw that we were charged for not just the house drinks, but also another charge for upgraded alcohol on each. When I brought this up to Kym, she said "Sorry about that! I won't do it next time!"No offer to take it off the bill.My brain stopped for a second because that's just unprofessional.I don't like other people making decisions about my money, even if it is a few dollars. This was the last straw.Sorry Nika and the rest of the PVH & Major's owners and stakeholders. We did our part to the tune of thousands of dollars, and we just can't do it any more. And it hurts us too, as there aren't a lot of decent eating places in Julian, Pine Valley, Descanso, Mt Laguna, etc., so this leaves us with even less choice, but it had to be done.

Atmosphere is kind of welcoming, the place needs more lighting and an actual theme. It reminds me of a 6th grade camp dining hall. The service has defiantly improved. The waitress with black hair is real nice, but the people behind the bar aren't that friendly. Food is mediocre. They're garlic fried are good, but their wings are dry and almost over cooked without being burnt. Wya too expensive still, for the quality of the food. The alcoholic mixers aren't mixed well, they need to taste their booze before serving because I kept getting the wrong drink, or they would get the mixers wrong some how. The one time my drink was right, there was no bitters in it, and she admitted she put too much alcohol in it. But hey I got a good buzz. This would be such a nice place if you guys added more than a burger and wings on the menus, tested your drinks and worked on consistency, and were more friendly and inviting. Maybe give it a more rustic saloon needs cabin in the woods, and this place could really take off!
