Pho Sao Bien

Some of the better pho I've found in San Diego outside of "little Saigon" in the City Heights neighborhood. The broth is rich and complex, the aromatics are fresh, and the meat is good quality. Service is also great here. Food comes out in just a few minutes. I enjoyed the Vietnamese coffee as well, they serve it in a drip over condensed milk, which is kind of fun to watch. Definitely recommended when seeking authentic pho in town.

The soup and vermicelli bowls here are both tasty and hearty. The Young Coconut is refreshing and the Soda Lemonade is perfectly sweet and tangy. Service is fantastic. They will bring you special dipping chili sauces if you ask. The restaurant is clean and bright with booths and tables and pop music at just the right level.

Incredible food, basil, mint were beyond fresh. Fried egg rolls are a must. Service a 10/10. Thank so much guys!

Best beef broth in the city, I swear! I am so picky about the complexity of flavors, the right oiliness, the saltiness... this one hits all the bullseyes. Authentic perfection. And speaking of authentic, this is one of the few Vietnamese restaurants in the city that makes their cha gio the traditional way with rice paper wrappers. I will drive half an hour to eat here JUST for these tasty morsels. The perfect meal for me is Tai Pho and cha gio wrapped in leafy lettuce with mint & do chua, dunked in spicy sweet fish sauce. ::chefs kiss:: Pho Sao Bien nails it every time.

Greeted as soon as we walked in, great place to eat on a rainy afternoon. Left with a full belly and great food and very good service.

Pho Sao Bien became my backup choice for an evening meal after the first spot I visited had decided to close their kitchen early because of low business... ugh. This place is quite a small Vietnamese eatery with only about six spaces in front for parking. The inside can seat maybe 30 customers. The menu had only four pages so it was much less than many other Vietnamese joints. I decided on a bowl of bun (rice vermicelli noodles) with chicken. The portion size was very good, but for some reason the noodles were overcooked. They were soggier than I had experienced elsewhere even without adding fish sauce. I couldn't quite finish everything so I took home the leftovers. I did like their late closing time for a weeknight. Overall, I gave Pho Sao Bien three stars for my dining experience.

Pricey but you get a good quantity so I guess it evens out. Always extremely friendly employees! Quick service and I always get to-go but seems like a good mom and pop shop to eat in.

Consistently delicious and fresh! My boyfriend and I can't get enough!! We've come twice in the past 4 days. I crave the taste of their pho everyday. The fried egg rolls with fresh mint and wrapped in the lettuce is amazing!!! The customer service is great too. We will continue coming back week after week!

4* Pho with rare steak and tendon was good.4* Fried eggroll - I still prefer the regular eggroll wrapper than the one they used. It is harder to bite.5* Service is good.5* Parking. It's Thursday at 2PM and there was a few spaces (4) for parking in front of the building, otherwise you need to find street parking.

Delicious broth with subtle spices. Good meatballs and other meats. Will definitely go here all the time.
