Kappa Sushi has an open vibe with a lively feel and little tchotchkes decorated around that add to the authentic atmosphere. Nestled in a cute shopping center, this spot is a hidden gem. Every dish we tried was fresh and tasted good. The standout for me was the lightly breaded crunchy roll included in my lunch combo. It was perfectly crispy and shrimp-ly delicious! The fried rice with sesame seeds was also a nice accompaniment to our meal. Our waitress, Devon, was also super friendly and patient with us as and made our experience as smooth as the salmon on our nigiri! If you're in the mood for some good quality sushi, I highly recommend giving Kappa Sushi a try!

Kappa Sushi - stopped there for a light lunch. We shared an order of mixed tempura and the lunch special rolls (a combination of shrimp tempura roll and spicy tuna roll). The lunch order is served with miso soup. The food is delicious - it is consistently good. The tempura was served piping hot. A good portion of shrimp and vegetables. The rolls were some our favorites and they always meet/exceed our expectations. The staff are efficient. It was busy at the restaurant, the food came out quickly and the staff worked as a team.

Sushi was extremely fresh and delicious. The sushi chefs were super friendly too, they kept checking to make sure that we enjoyed our food. The yakisoba (not pictured) was incredible as well.

The sushi here was delicious. The service here is also really quick as we got our food out 10 minutes after we ordered something to know about this restaurant is that the prices are a bit higher in comparison to other sushi restaurants but it is worth it for the quality that you get for the sushi.

The food and service is good! My wife ordered sushi, she said it was good, but disappointed by how small her rolls were.

Kappa Sushi is the best in the Mira Mesa neighborhood! My fiancé and I are regular clients there, and we never get disappointed. The fish is always fresh cut and of good quality. The service is excellent, and the price is reasonable. They have a Happy Hour on weekdays from 4:30 pm to 6 pm. Come and try! Highly recommended

Been coming here for many years and the quality of food and service is still top notch and attentive. We usually like to go early as they get pretty packed. They also have happy hour from 4:30-6pm and there's alot of options on the happy hour menu. This is one of the best places for hand rolls as the seaweed is still crispy when it comes to you. Don't really have a favorite roll to call out as we've never had one we don't like.

Stopped by while in the area on a whim- the place was extremely hot- seemed they don't have a/c but only a small unit that wasn't cooling down the place. We ordered two dishes and an appetizer, the main dish and appetizer came first for my partner and he had finished eating and they still had not brought my roll till I flagged someone down to check. One of the servers sat down to chat (very loudly) next to us to chit chat with her friends dining in. Was already an unpleasant temperature and sitting squished next to another table was not enjoyable.Floor was visibly very dirty- I was also served a glass that had a big chip on the lip.Sushi wasn't bad but the overall experience was not pleasant at all. Too loud, too close to other parties, too hot for a sushi place (gross). Wouldn't recommend or return.

Maybe it was because my friends hyped this place up but I wasn't impressed. It's a bit overpriced in my opinion. The ambiance wasn't loud but it sure wasn't quiet. A lot of people seem to come here for lunch but I didn't see any specials. The quality was solid but the rice crumbled a bit. Service is super quick and we were in and out within 30 minutes even though every table was full.

Time to give Kappa Sushi (and the staff) a shoutout. What can I say? I love to try new things BUT... I'm also a creature of habit. So if I stumble across a spot with delicious food and excellent service; that spot kinda becomes my jam. Know what I'm saying?Welp- Kappa Sushi is one of my jams! It's conveniently located right across the street from my hotel (Homewood Suites), and has easily become one of my favorite go-to restaurants. I stop by Kappa AT LEAST once every week (no joke). The food is always fresh and delicious, and the staff always provides stellar service. They've got all sorts of deliciousness to serve up. From soups and salads... to rolls and hand rolls... to nigiri and sashimi... to bento boxes AND MORE; you'll want to shove it all in your face. They even have enticing "Happy Hour" and "Daily Specials" items to choose from. Something for everyone!1) Have a kid that doesn't eat sushi?? Take him here for a yummy chicken teriyaki bento box, a bowl of curry, or some noodles!2) Hanging with a vegetarian friend?? Get her a veggie roll or any other yummy veggie option!3) Watching your carb intake?? Get a rice-less protein roll (or substitute w/ brown rice) or have some fresh sashimi!4) Had a stressful day? Grab a bottle of wine (or two) or a cold Sapporo to wash down the cold sake with!5) Grabbing a bite with a friend who is a raging alcoholic and shouldn't be drinking?? EVEN BETTER- more sake for you!!!(Note: Highly suggest #4 with any other of the above options.)There's maybe 12-15 tables spread throughout with additional counter seating; so you can watch the Sushi-Chef Magic (by Eric and his Sushi crew) happen before the deliciousness is plated. The environment is perfect for families catching a meal together, friends having drinks and eats, or even for the solo heifer (me!) that needs to soothe her sushi craving.Regardless of how busy they can get (and trust me, they do at times because the food is on point)- throughout your meal, the staff will be attentive and outgoing to make sure you have the best experience possible. The way they interact with the patrons with their welcoming smiles and jokes will you keep you coming back for more. AS YOU SHOULD.And you know what I always say: "Support small, local businesses." These guys work hard taking care of us- so take care of them back; they earned it!Shoutout to Marylyn (name was on my receipt). I think she's the manager. She always goes ABOVE and BEYOND.
