I've been to Mitsuwa numerous times but this was the first time I stopped by J. Sweets. We got the momowakahime (green peach) and benihougyoku (cherry). The green peach was $6.50 and the cherry one was $5.90. I wasn't a huge fan of the green peach, but I think that just might be my personal preference and not being used to green peach. I liked the cherry one a lot more. Both mochis were a bit on the sweet side, very soft, and fresh. Staff here is also very friendly and were there to help us if we had any questions. I'll come back to try their mochi creams next time since those looked pretty good. This is a great place to get gifts as well since they had lots of other sweets and the Royce chocolate (though more expensive than at the airport in Japan).

Came across this little shop when we were grocery shopping in Mitsuwa. Their desserts and snacks look like they are packaged yo be gifts. Behind the glass near the counter they do sell MochiCream. Near heard of it until I came across it here. There is no ice cream, instead the filling is a cream. My mom loves mochi and she was hesitant to buy any because of the price, but after trying one she kept saying the mochi was much better than other mochi desserts she has tried. I'm definitely going to bring her back!Women behind the counter was so nice. She packaged our mochi so elegantly though we were going to eat it as soon as they softened enough. No seating inside. You will have to take your desserts to-go.

This upscale Japanese confectioner has opened a store inside the Mitsuwa Marketplace in Kearny Mesa across from a crepe vendor. Various packages of sweets were on display, but the featured item was the fresh assortment of mochi cream. Twenty different flavors were arranged on two shelves in a display case. Prices ranged between $2 and $3 apiece. There were specific instructions on how to best eat and store the mochi cream. I chose the following four flavors for my order... * Caramel Pudding* Double Mango* Rum Raisin* Strawberry ShortcakeWhat I noticed was how soft and smooth the mochi cream was compared to traditional mochi which is more chewy. The cream used to make the mochi did not make them overly sweet which was a good thing. The rum raisin was my favorite of the bunch as the rum flavor added a zing that the others didn't. Wafer cookies, butter cookies, cookies with white chocolate or milk chocolate, jellies, Royce' Chocolate, and matcha tea were some of the other high-end products you could purchase at J Sweets.

Located inside Mitsuwa Marketplace, on the right side immediately past the front door. Parking lot can be hectic.Ordered 6 mochi creams. Strawberry shortcake (the cream inside was light and fluffy but resembled cool whip), red bean (creamy and sweet), double mango (similar to cream in the strawberry shortcake but with a mango hint with mango bits), caramel pudding (the pudding was delicious, reminded me of crème brûlée), honey cranberry (similar to strawberry shortcake but in my opinion a little better), and raspberry mille-feuille (like honey cranberry). The mochi tastes so fresh! They come a little frozen and you have to wait 15-20 mins before they reach the right temp to eat, delicious and fresh! Less than 3$ a piece

This is a small side shop in The Mitsuwa Japanese Market. They have some of the most delicious Moche I've ever had. The gooey soft outside, with the creamy, fruity, sweet inside... The textures are a combination of soft, creamy and crunchy. The crunchy comes from a thin caramelized sugar sliver laid in the middle... you really have to try this place out to fully understand. Service is very streamlined. If you've ever been to a sushi bar, then you'll love how easy it is to order. They have little slips of paper with the title of each flavor for sale. Mark your paper with the number of Moche you'd like, hand it over to the host/hostess, and then you're ready to pay. Each Moche is between $2-$3. They come to you frozen. This might be hard for some to understand. You see these delicious little things and then they hand you frozen rocks to thaw out... It's all part of it. I wait about 20 minutes, equivalent of my drive home, before I check on them. I like mine cold, so it's just as the Moche has thawed that I like to enjoy mine.Pro-tip: Don't get the gift box... unless you're getting them as a present. It's a beautiful box, but you're paying $$$ for it. Order yourself a dozen, but ask for them in a bag. Five stars for the BEST MOCHE EVER!

J.Sweets is a chain that serves mochi and other sweets. They have locations in Costa Mesa, Irvine, Torrance, and more! The worker there stated they opened around early November (2023).It is located inside of Mitsuwa, near the entrance. It's a beautiful store with a wide selection of mochi and other sweets / desserts. I stopped by after shopping at Mitsuwa today. I didn't have a lot of time to look at everything they had, and the mochi really caught my eye, so that is what I ordered.I ordered one of each of the following: Apple Pie, Blueberry Yogurt, Caramel Macchiato, Azuki (Red Bean), Sakura (Cherry Blossom), and Strawberry Shortcake. All of the mochi was delicious! Everything tasted fresh and high quality. The apple pie mochi had apple and pie crust... basically tasted exactly like apple pie and the blueberry yogurt mochi had actually blueberry pieces inside! The employee said it was best to allow the mochi 10-15 minutes to sit before eating. He also told me that it should all be consumed in 24 hours and to refrigerate the mochi if not eating.Yiko Yiko is no longer the king. The mochi was so good... it was the best mochi I've ever had! I bought enough to share with the family. One drawback is that it is pricey. Each mochi was two dollars and change, and the total ended up being $15.00 for 6 pieces. It is actually cheaper than Yiko Yiko ($5 per piece) and the mochi is just as good, if not better. So basically, you almost get two pieces for the price of one, compared to Yiko Yiko and more choices of flavors. The place is clean, the store is brand new. Service is excellent, they are friendly and patient and will answer any questions you have. You can usually find parking in this shopping center. We are fans of their mochi and look forward to trying other flavors and other sweets.Give this place a try if you like mochi or other Japanese desserts.5 / 5: Mochi5 / 5: Service5 / 5: Cleanliness5 / 5: Overall

The wife wants soup from SANTOUKA located inside the MITSUWA MARKET. But across where we were eating my wife noticed a new store. Went to stop by this store " J. SWEETS " Plenty of sweets already packed in Boxes most look like it's good for a gift. We just tried their Mochi since we already have a couple of desserts bought from the other stores. We bought MOCHI STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE, RASPBERRY, and DOUBLE MANGO. We weren't able to eat them right away coz the lady said to wait 15 minutes coz they were still frozen. Tried them in after 15 minutes and so far all were good but the DOUBLE MANGO is our favorite and for $2.50 each not bad at all for a good Mochi and quality. But the rest in the store are almost all pricey . And theres a Crepe store that they are sharing the place so its sure going to be crowded when both place are busy .

This mochi is tasty, though not as fresh as I'd like. The texture is similar to the mochi around mochi ice cream (a bit firm and chewy) with a fresh filling such as fruit or red bean with whipped cream. The treats are given to you frozen with the advice that you wait at least 10-15 minutes for them to thaw, keep them refrigerated otherwise, and consume within 24 hours. For $2.30 to $2.80 a piece, the mochi is great for a small sweet snack, but I wouldn't recommend stocking up. We tried the mango, red sweet potato, and choco banana. The sweet potato was my favorite as it was the most unique. The mango was very tasty but could've used more mango inside. The cocoa powder outside the choco banana overpowered the delicious fresh banana filling. I had hoped the mochi would be softer like fresh mochi, but the freezer storage leads it to be more firm. It's a nice small treat and there is a good variety of flavors. The store is located inside Mitsuwa Marketplace on the far right once you enter.
