It is great to have some options for dim sum places in San Diego, despite that it is still quite limited. Price point / a little overpriced. Quality and selection are not anything close to the ones in L.A. Still, we are glad to have this place where you can have dim sum anytime. Some dishes are better than others, but it is part of the fun adventure. Service is good - food is not terrible, and they tasted fresh. Typically, there is plenty of parking spaces right outside the restaurant.

Service: Pretty quick, very friendly, gave realistic estimates for food wait timeFood: Pretty good. Really enjoyed most of it. Only thing we didn't like was that there was cilantro in the steamed bbq pork bun and the mango pudding tasted quite artificial.

Meh.It was mostly edible. Lots of people were here, probably because it was Mother's Day, but we are not going back.Servers care not about your needs. Although that is sometimes a mark of a good Chinese place, that attitude only works if the food rocks. We had a few food misfires:Apparently, the dim sum carts do not keep the food properly moist, or they do not remove old food from the carts. Ha gao stuck together and then fell apart while attempting to pick them up, and was nearly impossible to deal with without fingers. Similarly, the shrimp rice roll had gummy rice rolls, instead of moist and chewy. Everything seemed rather dry.The steamed BBQ pork bun (cha siu bao) has cilantro in it, which is highly unusual and many people, including my wife, despise it. When you get it they do not tell you, so it's a disgusting little surprise inside. Their reply when I asked if they had any without the cilantro was not to eat it, delivered in Cantonese, which I received second hand. The Chinese Broccoli with garlic was good. You might want to stick with the vegetables, but nothing here made me say "let's go back!"

Glad to have this place as a nearby dim sum spot in Mira Mesa. They have the push carts, which is a plus. And plenty of seating, so wait time has never been long. Food is OK though, and service can be slow sometimes.

Craving dim sum, and Golden Island is well known in Mira Mesa. There was no wait when we walked in, and we were immediately greeted with carts with hot, steaming food. There's a great array of dumplings, rice rolls, baked goods, and steamed meat plates. The portions are generous. The interior of the restaurant is gorgeous: colorful, classy, spacious. Service was attentive. I would say the dim sum is pretty good, not the best I've had, but I truly enjoyed the experience given the vibrant interior and good service.

Ordered 9 waters. 1 diet Pepsi and 1 tea. They gave me 4 teas and charged me 20$. Why? I just think they should hire people who can understand and speak English. My bill was 400$ and 60$ of it was for tips and 20$ for tea, which only one person drank. The food was very bland. I'm just so disappointed at the hidden costs here.

Every time our guests from out of town craving for dim sum this is our place. We usually have a good experience and today is no difference. The service and ambience were wonderful. We love there was no wait for Sunday brunch and the food came right away. The dim sum portions were also big. The har gow and hot and sour soup were mediocre but Siu Mai and the custard bun dessert were a hit! We will definitely be back again.

We were hungry, as soon as we sat down, we started to look at the foods in the carts and started asking for things... then water and tea order came there after... but don't be like us, get your drinks, chili oil, etc and then take your time to get your food :)Everything we got, we enjoyed. Appreciated that the dim sums were fresh, the wrappers didn't fall apart like some dim sum joints. If the cart person doesn't have what you want, then ask the wait staff and they will hunt it down for you. The interior is your typical Chinese restaurant, love the cart system, something you don't see in Midwest unfortunately.

This was actually great in comparison to the dim sum at convoy. Golden island is cleaner and much newer in terms of the building so I feel assured the timely be seeing a critter friends. Dim sum is not salty at all. The only caveat I have is that the carts are slow as they only have one running for each item. If the carts were faster, I would have ordered more but by the time they got to us , I was already full and ready to go. The cart ladies were actually really polite and said you're welcome which is UNHEARD of in dim sum places. Definitely will be back for my dim sum cravings.
