Fish House Vera Cruz is the go to place if you are looking for delicious fresh seafood & great service! I live in coastal north county San Diego and Fish House by far has better quality food and definitely more reasonable prices than any other similar restaurants in the area. Every time I go, the food is very fresh and the servers are always so welcoming and friendly. I recommend the prawns & scallops ramaki- always Delicious!!A lot of people may not know that they also have a market at this location where you can buy the freshest seafood & best clam chowder for very reasonable prices. I am happy that with all the new developments in restaurant row in San Marcos, this restaurant is here to stay! If you're passing through or live in the area, this restaurant is worth a visit.

This is my GO TO for FRESH FISH in the North County of San Diego. The daily fresh fish selection is second to none. Get your favorite pan-fried or grilled. DO NOT forget to get the Sour Dough Rolls. Tip: order the drawn butter for dipping and thank me later. If you go to the rustic bar with a hammerhead shark, say high to the best tenders of the Vera Cruz bar, Chelsea and Kelsie, who privide great friendly service. Cheers!

Our visit was on a weekday in May 2024. Kudos to our waiter. He was very good. Can't hold him responsible for what comes out the kitchen. Unfortunately, our seafood dishes were mediocre. Not very flavorful. Tasted like they were just thrown on a grill without any adequate pre-seasoning or preparation. No patron should have to use excessive amounts of butter or tartar to give their dish flavor. Expected better culinary skills, for the prices they are charging. Ambiance is dated, but that didn't concern us. It's all about the food & service.To be fair, it wasn't the worst meal we've ever eaten, but it was nothing that convinced us to return anytime soon.

My brother got food poisoning during our last visit, and a manager reached out to me on yelp. He assured me that after our visit he spoke with the staff to review all of the items they served, and contacted their supplier as well. I commend this restaurant for taking feedback seriously. We were invited back, and I took my brother with me. He ordered seared ahi tuna again (he hasn't been hurt enough I guess), and I got the halibut. Everything was delicious, and the service was great, like always. We were also completely fine after the meal, so perhaps he just got unlucky last time. Fingers crossed that nothing bad happens again in the future!We will be back :)

Omg I love this place it is so beautiful and has SUPER good food. Like the place is so pretty and has actual fish tanks in the place which my kids think are really cool. My grandma takes me to this place and it legit has the best bread rolls while you're waiting for your food to come. The food is so good and the fish comes with butter to put on it and I love it so much. The mash potatoes side is really yummy. I've been going here for years and I just love this place and everything about it. The service is really great and your food comes out in the perfect amount of time and the workers are super sweet and friendly. I totally recommend going to this place one of the best fish places in California!!

Thank you Maddie for a great experience! We made a reservation for Friday evening at 6pm for 4 guests through open table. We arrived and got sat shortly after, we were greeted by Maddie who take care of us for the evening. After reading some of the terrible reviews I was a little nervous but we had a wonderful dinner and experience. I had the monk fish and it tasted great. Side salad was large.

Long overdue review of our favorite restaurant in San Marcos. Love sitting in the bar with the retro vibe, fish tanks, and classic rock music. Long time bartender Jen, knows how to mix a drink! Menu favorites include shrimp and fish tacos, scallops rumaki, blue point oysters, fried calamari (steak, not rings), seafood kabobs, Vera Cruz Mexican-style shrimp cocktail and the salmon salad. Be sure to check out the seafood counter with Manhattan and New England clam chowder (wonderful mixed together) and in-house made cocktail and tartar sauce. Thrilled to have Fish House Vera Cruz as a surviving restaurant in the soon to be demolished Restaurant Row.

This place has all of my classic favorites, and deserves a nod. We love coming here for both quick lunches on the patio and big dinners with the family. Super fresh and tasty fish plates, delicious fish/shrimp tacos and a lot of apps to choose from. It's outlasted every other restaurant in restaurant row...even Bruno's! (If you know, you know.) It's got a classic comfortable vibe and the staff is always awesome. If you're in the neighborhood I recommend stopping by the bar and indulging in some Rockefeller bread at the very least. You will leave happy & full.

Shout out & Highest Recommendation:Fish House Vera Cruz in San MarcosBoy, what a stellar place.Huge portions of fresh fish.Large selection of fresh fish.Awesome fresh sides.Eric (the waiter) was the BEST !Eric (the manager) was amazing.Yes, it is a drive, but very well worth it. Not far off the 78 to incorporate on the wayto or from, or with something in the area. Went there for a Birthday.Did not disappoint.Beautiful dining room with plenty of aquariums, and vintage brick.Been going there for 20+ years.Everything is like the old days when quality and service mattered.Ask for Eric the waiter :)You will be glad that you didWe have been driving there from Alpine for 20+ years, and are NEVER disappointed
