Filippi's Pizza Grotto Jamul

It's a bit of a weird set up inside for this location, but it's a fun and inviting atmosphere once you get in (you walk directly past the main entrance of the kitchen--I don't know, it just feels backwards to me). Service is quick and the folks are good with substitutions or changes. The food has the normal offerings of pizza places but where it's unique is the pizza. It'll be your favorite if you like cheese--so much cheese. And, at least for us in Jamul, it's the closest place to get decent pizza. PS: If you want normal amounts of cheese rather than they're massive servings, tell them you want "easy cheese" for your order.

Arrived on a Saturday night. Our party of six was seated quickly. Antipasto salad is full of meats, cheese, olives and pepperocini. Pizzas were delicious and full of cheese, veggies, sausage and pepperoni. Spaghetti and meatball was served with garlic bread. Portion was overflowing the plate. Excellent food and service.

Listen up, my loyal soldiers! It's Captain 619, the boss of all bosses, here to give you the lowdown on Filippi's Pizza. Today, me and my beautiful queen paid a visit to Filippi's Pizza Grotto in Jamul. We ordered ourselves a large pizza with just the classic cheese, and let me tell ya, the taste and aroma were straight outta the old school. I couldn't shovel that pie into my mouth fast enough. This joint is gonna be a regular haunt for us, capisce? And let me tell ya, if the wife ain't happy, forget about it! But Filippi's Pizza, they made her happy, so they get a solid 5 stars from me. Keep making me happy, and you'll have the whole mob coming your way. Fuggedaboutit!And hey, let me tell ya, they ain't just slinging pizzas over at Filippi's. They got some incredible garlic bread that'll knock your socks off. It's crispy on the outside, buttery with a kick of garlic on the inside. I'm tellin' ya, it's like a shield against those bloodsucking vampires, especially this time of year. So, if you're lookin' to keep those fanged creatures at bay while indulging in some mouthwatering Italian goodness, Filippi's Pizza is the place to be. Trust me, my fellow mobsters, you won't be disappointed.

I only went for the pizza. The pizza is thick and not floppy. It is delicious! Best pizza in town. I had pizza for breakfast the next day and lunch. We also ordered a side salad & they brought warm bread with it that was delicious too. The service was friendly. There was plenty of parking and the restaurant seemed pretty full for a Wednesday evening. It was definitely a family restaurant. Everyone was there with their family. I'm definitely going back for the PIZZA!!!

Filippi's Pizza continues to be a childhood favorite that never fails to bring a smile to my face. The restaurant's interior is charming, with wine bottles hanging from the ceiling, and the staff was friendly as we patiently waited for our takeout order to be prepared.Our order included meatballs, cheesy garlic bread, a medium pepperoni pizza, and an antipasta salad, which certainly amounted to quite a lot of food. Everything we enjoyed was not only delicious but also created happy memories. The pizza sauce had that unmistakable homemade fresh flavor, and was generously loaded with cheese and pepperoni, just as I remembered. The meatballs were fantastic, both in size and flavor, creating a delicious and filling meal by themselves. I could really taste the garlic and butter on the cheesy bread with melted cheese, it paired nicely with the meatballs.The only thing that didn't quite align with my taste was the antipasta salad, possibly due to the iceberg lettuce it just took away from the salad. However, it was fresh and generously topped with various ingredients, even though it wasn't my personal favorite.Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience, and we're certainly looking forward to returning to Filippi's Pizza in the future.

A long time family favorite place, decided to just get some pizza and pasta on our movie night at home. Definitely comfort food, filling but flavorful.

I am so disappointed at writing this review. I've bought at least 300 pizzas from this Filippi's over the 42 years I've lived in the neighborhood (I don't remember if we or they were here first). Anyway, over the past couple of years, I've noticed the consistency of the pizzas has become unpredictable - sometimes gobs and gobs of cheese and other times a haphazard sprinkling of ingredients. In all those years, I only felt it necessary to bring a pizza issue up with the manager (Steve at the time) once - he immediately and cheerfully gave me full credit for a future pizza.Today was different. Only 6 of the 16 slices on our to-go half-and-half were fully loaded - it was the expensive "Fit for a King" half that was shorted. This was embarrassing since that did not provide full servings for our adult guests. Rather than immediately work toward a solution, the manager first tried to convince me that the slight sprinkling of ingredients on the edge of two of the cheese slices was somehow in the spirit of a half-and-half. I also advised her that the pizza was also very salty - too salty for some to eat. She quipped that they "do not add salt," so I guess that's that - my experience with eating some 300 Filippi's pizzas has no merit, and there is no possible way they may have inadvertently gotten too much salt in the dough or whatever.To be fair, she eventually (but not very gracefully) said she would issue a credit, but by that time, I decided my years of Filippi's pizza buying were over. I do not need to come in as a customer and have the manager try to justify everything I have an issue with. Goodbye Filippi's - I'm mostly sorry to take my business elsewhere.

Husband loves it, so much cheese on a pizza.... Wow!! Definitely high in price. $32 for a large cheese seems expensive! Great service and Consistency in what you get. If you like VERY thick cheese and a lot of sauce ... this is your place!

The anti pasto salad is the best! The employees are very courteous! Our place to just go and have a nice dinner!! Love this place
