I thought I was trying this food truck for the first time this weekend, but it was actually a second.Devilicious is a San Diego-based food truck and a long-time participant in the twice-yearly Great American Foodie Fest in Las Vegas. I must've tried them last time because I found a picture of the duck confit grilled cheese. Whether I was slacking on reviews/photo uploads that weekend or I intentionally avoided doing the review, that sandwich clearly wasn't memorable. But I tried them again because of the relative lack of out-of-town newcomers, and I wasn't disappointed this time.My choice was the Cali Pork Belly Burrito ($11, at least for this event), their version of the San Diego local favorite California burrito. It's a burrito with french fries inside, and the first one I ever tried was fantastic. This rendition is an even larger departure from its Mexican inspirations, with the salsa verde and perhaps the crema being the only Mexican flavors discernible. However, it was still a filling treat because of the delicious, not-too-chewy pork belly that's cut into large chunks. The potato were pretty good too. My only issue was that one half of my burrito had zero meat when I got to the bottom; fortunately, I still had the other half still to eat.The Cali burrito seems to be a newer menu item, and I hope it stays on. And I hope that Devilicious keeps coming back so that I can work my way through the rest of their menu, including their popular lobster grilled cheese.

My first time and I'm sure I'll be back. I just pulled into home when I saw this truck out in front of an apartment complex across the street. I was hungry and thought this might be a good option to anything I would cook this evening. Quick check of their Yelp page and based on all the good reviews I figured how could I go wrong.Everything on the menu sounds amazing but the vast majority of the reviews I read all mentioned the BBBLT (Bacon, Bacon, Bacon and more Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato) sandwich. In addition to being a traditional BLT with an abundance of Bacon, it's served on fresh sourdough bread with melted cheddar & jack cheeses and a fried egg. I figured I would play it safe and order this sandwich everyone was raving about and I had a side of their regular fries. They take credit cards so it was very convenient to pay. They made the sandwich fresh along with the fries and it wasn't a very long wait. I went back to my house to enjoy the meal. The sandwich came with a small salad with a balsamic dressing. The sandwich looks amazing with several thicker than average slices of bacon hanging out of either end of the sandwich. I parted it and the cheese was still melted and stringy. There was just a trace of the egg yolk dripping down. The sandwich literally looked too good to eat!!! I've seen pictures of food like this but rarely ever get a chance to actually taste something that looks this amazing. Well, looks were not deceiving! The bacon was amazing along with the fresh sourdough bread, perfectly cooked fried egg and incredible cheeses! Absolutely one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. They have a website and fortunately, on the website they list all the locations their food truck will be throughout the week. I STRONGLY recommend you check out this list and if they are going to be in your neighborhood, you must try their food! I can't wait until they return to my neighborhood because I plan to try some of the other incredibly delicious sounding sandwiches on their menu! So, why not five stars if I'm raving so much about the food? Styrofoam to-go containers. Sorry 'Devilicious' but you cannot recycle Styrofoam here in San Diego County. There is one facility down near the border but I'm not driving all the way down there and the city will not pick up Styrofoam for recycling. Furthermore, there are SO many companies, here in San Diego, that make recyclable to-go containers. And I've personally priced it and compared to the Styrofoam containers, it might cost you an extra 8 cents per item which is a cost you could certainly pass along in the prices for your food. I would gladly pay a few cents more for you to use recyclable containers. Since they are San Diego companies, I'm sure you could get a better price than what I got off the internet. Anyway, just a thought but please get rid of the non-recyclable Styrofoam containers.

Great fresh food, my wife enjoyed her lobster grilled cheese, I had a BBBLT, it was delicious, bacon tasted like bacon and the other ingredients were fresh and tasty. This food truck is a worthy stop.

On a recent longass international flight, I watched the feel-good drama movie "Chef", where Jon Farveau reinvents himself and opens a Latin inspired food truck making meaty tasty looking Cubano sandwiches for $7...not greatest movie, but it left me craving a cubano, badly! Its $9 for the real life Delivious food truck version of the Cubano sandwich...this was pretty darn good, but also pretty darn small! Its on sliced bread, not a long roll. I was still feeling hungry afterwards, but I didn't feel like paying another $9, nor $4 for fries...the motto is "Food is so good its bad"...the food is good, but the portion/price ratio is very bad. But to be honest, its probably enough of food for a sorority girl, a child, or a midget, but not for a grown 6ft-2inch 190lb male. As with all food trucks: No free water, no place to sit, no bathroom, nowhere to wash your hands, etc...it also doesn't help that I know of a little place in Clairemont that serves a bigger Cubano sandwich and with fries or a salad for only $5.95.

I had sandwiches from Devilicious for the first time at the Las Vegas Foodie Fest a week ago. The food I sampled was great tasting but I experienced two problems. Although my wife and I had already paid for 2 Poached Lobster Grilled Cheese Sandwiches about 20 minutes earlier, the food truck reported that it ran out of lobster on my order. So, my wife got hers but I did not get mine. Devilicious was kind enough to offer any other sandwich at no cost to make up for this loss, and an All Crab Crab Cake Sandwich was chosen as a substitute. But just before I bit into this sandwich I saw and pulled out two long, thin human hairs resting on the egg that hovered on top of the crab cake. After I shook this off and debated what to do, I decided to go ahead and eat the sandwich. The hairs were now gone, after all. The All Crab Crab Cake Sandwich, which contained tomato, lettuce, red and white onions, and the sunny-side up fried egg over a crab cake inside an English muffin, was delicious. The crab cake had a small backbite to it, as I believe is appropriate for a crab cake; and the warm running egg yolk spilling over the crab just took the taste experience up another notch. Truffle French Fries topped by Parmesan splinters were very good but not particularly memorable. My wife generously allowed me two bites of her Lobster Grilled Cheese, and they were a yummy mix of lobster and melted cheese. But one would think that at the end of the first day of the festival, Devilicious should have noticed that its stock of lobster was almost depleted, and therefore ordered an ample supply to restock for the second day, when I was there; or planned better to have enough lobster on hand to last for two full days at the outset. This would have enabled this popular food truck to avoid running out of its featured crustacean just 2 hours after the festival opened on Sunday. And, perhaps caps or hair nets are in order for all food handlers! So, five stars for the food, but only two for execution, on this particular visit.

Just tried the buffalo chicken melt, outside the Hilton, the sauce was good (but hey its buffalo souce!) blue cheese was good...but the actual chicken was dry and there was not much flavor there. I tried the chicken by itself..big mistake! It just tasted weird ..$10 later and I was very hungry so I ate half thank goodness for buffalo sauce. Very disappointed, I had high hopes for it.On the other hand.. lovely cashier she was nice..good service! Food I'll skip on it next time.

I've been dying to try this place out due to Food Network's show and so I finally got to try it and was rather upset that the portions weren't bigger. I mean, we're paying for "gourmet" food truck food here and the prices are rather steep considering you're just getting take out from a truck. I ordered the crab cake sandwich, which was served on an english muffin. The crab cake had a lot of fillers and wasn't memorable. The english muffin was of course your standard size and therefore, there wasn't a lot of crab meat loaded in between the muffins. My side salad was average, nothing special about it, so of course, I was still hungry. I will admit that their truffle fries are delicious! My husband got the lobster grilled cheese and while it was good, again, the portion was rather small. I took a huge bite and of course, he wasn't left with much to eat. It ended up being a rather pricey stop for lunch and we were still hungry. I would have given it more stars had the portions been bigger for it's price to size ratio.

Devilicious was parked at WonderCon 2014 today, and they were one of the few I seemed to be attracted to for the unique menu and good prices! (other truck being The Tasting Spoon)today i was stuck between the duck confit grilled cheese and the pork belly melt! i was highly considering getting mix, like the duck confit melt with some pork belly, BUT for it being my first time, I decided to go with their regular offering to get the true taste of their menu!so the duck confit melt was chosen, along with some truffle parmesan french fries! All together about $16, not too bad for the amount of food, but keep reading for the minor improvement I wish for! (Don't worry still 5 stars! the melt was delicious!! the duck was tender, juicy, shredded nicely and had a good sear and flavor to it! not too strong but a very wowing taste! there were also slices of caramelized onions, sharp and crunchy, and ooey gooey mozzarella cheese and gruyere cheese! the bread was not too thick, crispy, and soaked up all the delicious flavor!ONLY downside was for the price, i wish there was more meat!the truffle parm fries were amazingly delicious! some of the crispiest french fries i have ever had! a big bowl of them, with black truffle oil and some grated truffles as well, at first it doesn't seem to have truffles but once you start eating holy moly are these amazing!!on top were a mound of sliced/grated parmesan cheese! mmm sharp and salty!the only downside to this was the saltiness and wish the cheese had been mixed in more so the hot fries can melt it away!Overall, still a 5 star service! great service, fast ordering/food receiving and delicious food!

Tried Devilicious at the Balboa Park Food Truck Festival. The poached lobster grilled cheese was quite average. Very little not-so-fresh lobster for an ~$10 sandwich.Pretty cool truck though, seems like they've upgraded judging by the previous Yelp photos.

i figured.....AS SEEN ON THE GREAT FOOD TRUCK RACE 2......this local truck must be pretty good.....I need to try it!!I tried the truffle parmesean fries when I first saw this truck at the Green Flash Brewing company and I figured these are pretty good so why not try this truck again. The second time Devilicious happened to be parked by my work and since my work building had yet to have a vendor for its cafeteria I didn't have any other food option. I decided to try the All crab crab cake sandwich and my coworker ordered the cheesesteak and we shared an ordered of truffle parmesean fries. The crab cake was delicious but since I didn't exactly eat the sandwich immediately the english muffin that the sandwich was sitting on absorbed all the oil from the crab cake or the sauce but was so soggy. Nonetheless, I was hungry so I devoured it. I didn't try the cheesesteak but there was a big portion of it. I loved that the sandwiches all came with the balsamic greens salad very simple but also delicious. Devilicious.....Food so good it's bad....The funny thing is that it literally is!!! I honestly felt guilty after eating all of that. My coworker and I said to ourselves....at least we can say we also ate this healthy balsamic greens salad for lunch!! Ha.
