Came here with a couple of my girlfriends to celebrate a late birthday lunch. We came right as it opened on a Sunday at 2:00PM. The ambiance is beautiful. There's a huge cherry blossom tree coming out of the bar in the center, then there's a couple witty pieces of art all around. In the back, it turns a little more moody and is darker decor that resembles "Shibuya Nights" as the back area is also called. There's softer music playing during the day, and as we spent a good couple of hours here catching up and getting drunker by the minute, a DJ came around the 5:00PM mark.We ordered quite a bit. To list what we tried, we had:Spicy Garlic Edamame (slightly too spicy, my best friend didn't dive into this as much)Blistered shishitos (great flavor on these for me, I loved munching on these especially as the day progressed)Sunomono salad (refreshing)Spicy godzilla wings (slightly plan on their own, but was much better dipped in the sriracha garlic ranch)Moment of Truth sashimi (really delicious)Hadoken sashimi ( good, but maybe didn't end up loving what the fruit elements did for my personal palate)Saucy Boi sushi roll (no complaints about this one, well balanced)Yuki Onna sushi roll (didn't dive into this one, but my best friend seemed to enjoy it)Notorious P.I.G sushi roll (this was good but for me, I didn't love the ume bacon. Thought it would be the star of the roll, and it was kind of whatever)DrinksTea Ceremony cocktail (very refreshing, this was one of my last drinks of our time here)Lychee and Beachy Season cocktail (I would've liked this more, it came off too syrup-ey)Miyaki Spritz cocktail (this one was ordered multiple times and a favorite)The Last Stand cocktail (seems that my girlfriend liked this one, but opted to start ordering tequila sodas after so maybe a tad strong?)Suntory Haku highball (my best friend ordered this one multiple times, and was clean tasting and refreshing)Kong in toki-oh shot (very, very good - this one was ordered multiple times)Project Passion shot (most fruity one)Kanpai shot (my personal favorite just because I love Midori and honey)We honestly had a grand ole time and the ambiance was nice. We kept the food the whole 4+ hours we were there for to keep picking at and I'm pretty sure this spot is a re-visit on my list for sure. I'd love to take my husband here to see what he thinks. Shout outs to our server for keeping up with us and our shenanigans the entire time. We were just rowdy in the sense of us laughing lots but she was so nice and accommodating to our every order.

I went there yesterday with my kiddo and she had the best time. She is hard to please so this meant a lot, she even said you have quality food....WHAT?!?! I think she has found her favorite restaurant. Thank you for the quality service. The high top tables in the back are not the best but we survived. If you have kids with you who're clumsy, opt for the lower tables, the high tops are very unstable. My sushi roll the kamikaze, I believe was wonderful. Good vibes all around. Decor is amazing!

Cloak & Petal is one of those places that is more about the ambiance than the food. The interior is so uniquely decorated, with sprinkles of music, anime, and the most gorgeous tree in the middle of the bar area. The rolls were good, but very heavy on the sauces and nothing that really stood out to me. Overall, a good experience, but you are definitely paying for it!

Great spot, great atmosphere, and solid food! Was it the best sushi I've ever had? Not really, was still still solid? Absolutely. Cloak and petal gets extra points for the great vibe, atmosphere, and staff. A great place for a group

We had a great time here for their happy hour! Service was super on point! Our server and busser were super attentive and really provided excellent service. The ambience is definitely a vibe and I can see why they are so popular, the design alone of the restaurant is entertaining! The bao buns were absolutely delicious, and the crispy green beans were fantastic! We had one sushi roll to share and it was pretty good, unfortunately not the best I've had out there in the world, but living in CA we are absolutely spoiled with amazing seafood. We will definitely be back to try more items and enjoy some tasty sake!

First time coming here. Came on a Saturday at 230pm. The place was super quiet. Not a ton of people here. Which made for a nice intimate time. Sat at the bar and chatted a ton with the bartender who was chill. Gave me some of his recommendations. I ended up not like either of them which was disappointing. But their friendliness made up for it. My friend ordered a Tiki drink which he liked and I ordered a Samurai Sour. The sour was made with gin and just didn't smack like I thought it would. Wasn't terribly sour. Tasted more water than anything. We ended up also ordering food. My friend got the katsu curry and I got the spicy noodles. The curry he said was delicious. My meal was below average. It wasn't spicy and had to order chillies to give it a good kick. It wasn't as filling as I hoped. The whole flavor profile of the meal was lacking. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. I didn't hate it. I just walked away feeling like I ate, but didn't enjoy it. There's a few artwork up, a few TVs with anime on it, a back bar in addition to the one in the middle of the restaurant, and overall a super colorful and fun environment. Even tho my food and drink was basically a one star, it gets a 2 star rating because the menu is so vast and there's a ton of interesting options that I think is worth going back for. It is pricey so be prepared to easily spend 60 dollars per person if you get an entree and two drinks. The atmosphere is also intoxicating. I'll be coming back for sure because I think this place is better than a 2.

GREAT SUSHI SPOT IN LITTLE ITALYyes, the reviews were spot on. This place is definitely a vibe.I loved the ambiance with the dim lights and the massive cherry blossom tree. This is definitely a great date spot. Our waitress was really nice and helpful. Her suggestions were spot on. We loved all of our food.We ordered:- Notorious P.I.G.- Kamikaze - Mr. Dubstep - Cesar ChavezAll of the rolls were great in their own way. I am not sure one was better than the other. I did enjoy the P.I.G. and the bacon crumbles on top. Never thought I would like bacon on a sushi roll, but it definitely worked. We also got the Red Sun and the Born & Dayzed drinks. Both were great. I liked the Red Sun more, but both were great.Overall, a 5 star experience. I appreciated they brought out an ice cream with sparkler for my wife's birthday. If you want something other than Italian in Little Italy, you have to try this spot!

We came in for happy hour on a week day. The sushi and drink deals were pretty good. The ambiance is a super trendy and modern sushi spot. Service was good overall.- Saucy girl (4/5): Good flavor, fish tasted fresh. Portion size was decent as well.- Kamikaze (4/5): This was also tasty. I love the citrusy flavor, perfect pairing.

Been wanting to try cloak and petal after seeing lots of social media buzz about it. Made a reservation a day in advance for a Wednesday night and there were plenty of open tables. We were seated right away and really enjoyed all of the decor and gritty but trendy, colorful atmosphere. It's a quirky but romantic date spot or group dinner spot. The service was quick and friendly, and the short ribs were tender and mouth watering. We tried two rolls and the portions and presentation were impressive! My favorite was the Face it You're Basic. Cocktails were a bit sweet. There is valet parking nearby and some street parking that wasn't too difficult to find on a mid-week evening. Expect to allow extra time for finding parking. Would recommend to anyone seeking a unique but modestly upscale dining experience!
