Clayton's Mexican Take-Out

Normally a HUGE fan of Clayton's to the point that my wife and I ate there weekly, but we just experienced such a surprising, disappointing visit. The cashier was rude and seemed to want to get rid of us as soon as they could. My sister-in-law order carne asada soft tacos for $10.23 and only received 25¢ back. Not a big deal, but still felt odd that they deliberately only handed her a quarter after telling her that her change was 77¢. She also asked for limes and didn't receive any even though they told her they'd give her some.My wife and I's California Burrito has pineapples in it for no reason and didn't have all the way melted cheese (just cold shredded cheese). Typically such a professional, delicious experience but this really turned us off and hope that management addresses this.Edit: management was quick to respond and give a detailed response of their action plan :) very thankful and will continue to be long time customers.

was thoroughly impressed! The tacos were nothing short of amazing, with fresh ingredients and authentic Mexican flavors that transported me straight to the heart of Mexico. The tortillas were warm and soft, the fillings were generously portioned, and each bite was packed with flavor.

I'm in favor of a quick to go place. Prices are ok for the island Clayton's is a staple and the Mexican food is good too. It's a little window inside with tables and chairs outside. Breakfast burritos are great

Always a fan of Clayton's burritos! Whenever I'm in San Diego I make it point to stop by here for a quick bite. The staff was friendly, the food delicious, and the price is reasonable, especially for Coronado. There's also a bakery and coffee shop attached, so check them out too!

We ordered 9 breakfast burritos from here the morning after my sisters wedding, and it was the perfect breakfast! They were delicious, LOVED that they come with beans for those of us who don't like meat in our breakfast burritos. We were able to call in the take-out order, and pick up/pay at the time we gave them for pickup. worked really well. Only thing I will say is if you do this, get the name of whos helping you on the phone, becuase there was some confusion as to where to pick up, got sent from the cafe to the pick up window, to the mexican takeout only to be sent back to the takeout window where the order was already waiting. Other than that it was GREAT! Prices were good too for the size and quality of the burritos.

Fresh and authentic flavors through out the burrito. Ordered the Carne asada breakfast burrito and was full the rest of the afternoon. Massive helping with an incredible house made salsa. I can see if you don't like spicy and the salsa wasn't added it might be a little dry but the two house made salsa given with the order were incredible and rich with flavorCash register wasn't accepting cards when we got there but luckily we had just enough cash to cover breakfast and a tip.

The breakfast burritos are massive! They last two meals for sure. There isn't too much flavor in the burrito but the salsa makes it great.

Been looking for a good Mexican joint on Coronado that's not part of a chain when we stumbled upon Clayton's. A small storefront but damn the food is delicious. I ordered the Carnitas Burrito and it was tasty as well as filling. Good value for the money. Will definitely be back soon.

The horchata is so good! I would go back just for that. The kid's quesadilla was popular with my daughter. It must've been really good because she did a dance and everything. The carne asada fries are huge. My husband and I split it and still couldn't finish it. They are a little on the saltier side in my opinion but overall delicious. The toppings were plentiful and the service was quick.
