This area in North County doesn't have many good Chinese food options... But this is the best you're gonna get! It's pretty good depending on which dish you get. I mostly get shrimp fried rice or Hunan fish or chicken. Occasionally, I feel like having the walnut shrimp which is a great portion and it comes with rice. I think all dishes are meant to be shared because it's a pretty good portions for most things. I've only ordered out, or gotten it via food delivery, so I'm not sure how the service is inside. There are multiple locations in the San Diego area, but I guess they're not all on by the same people. This location versus the next nearest... in Encinitas, is better. For me, the food seems to be fresher!

I have mixed feelings about this place. The food comes out piping hot but the service was okay. It was very dark so we didn't notice the nats/flies until halfway through eating. I got the plum tree beef and it was very tough and chewy. My mom got the sweet and sour shrimp and that was amazing. I also feel like the lunch specials are great for the portions you get. But then we got the complimentary soup and some of the eggs were still clear and raw, so that was disgusting (for me) because it was like drinking mucus. Overall, it's not bad but I think the most important thing is being mindful about what you order. The shrimp has always been good but I wasn't fan of the beef or even scallops the time we came before

The food came out hot, and it was honestly pretty great! We ordered general Tao's chicken, Black Pepper Chicken, and tangerine beef. We got a few appetizers as well. The food was extremely filling. The flavor was great! My server wouldn't let any of us finish our water without her filling it. Only issue I had, is the menu was a bit hard to read because it was a little dark. Other than that, this place is great! From a certified foodie. Not sure why the rating is not in the mid to high 4s. Definetly deserving of it.

My husband & I have always enjoyed our meals. I typically order the black pepper chicken. The chicken is white meat marinated in fresh oranges, onions and red peppers. Yum!

Absolutely disgusting. I picked up dinner after work and it was so bad I could barely eat it. I posted a pic of what I order and the pic of the food is supposed to be to be the chow mein. It had almost zero noodles, had a large about of water/liquid at the bottom of the container, and was basically unseasoned vegetables. The tangerine chicken didn't even taste like citrus and was barely edible. The egg rolls were the only thing I ate. What made it worse is it was not busy at all.

I'm surprised I haven't reviewed this place before. We come here for lunch fairly often. We came here even more often when it was the Chinese place that was in this location before Chin's (Peking Garden I think) - I still miss them!Anyhow, great lunch special. Interior is very dim/mood lighting. Nice interior decorations, feels very classic old-school Chinese restaurant. The menu reflects that too, a lot of classics. They also offer a pretty generous loyalty program, you just have to keep a little business card and they give you credit for what you order. We get free meals from it pretty often.Some of my favorites are the Ku Ting shrimp (crispy fried shrimp, but not quite as good as Walnut Shrimp), Szechuan shrimp, Garlic chicken. I had mu shu pork as a throwback choice a few visits ago. I would not suggest getting the scallops - my friend said some of them tasted a little fishy (the one I tried was not great). Their potstickers are really good, so if you like appetizers that's a good option. They also do pretty good steamed soup dumplings, but they take awhile, so it depends how long you have to spend.Their soup that comes with the lunch special rotates. Last time it was Hot and Sour. Time before that we got Rice and Pork soup I think. A lot of times it's Egg Drop.Only real negative I have is that they tend to over-thicken the soup and the sauces with a bit more cornstarch than I'd like. It can be a bit gloppy.In the summer they really blast the A/C, so be aware you might be a little chilly!

Utter disappointment. The vegetable fried rice is just awfiul. The vegetables exclusively the contents of a bag of frozen peas and diced carrots--limp and slimy. No garlic, nothing leafy, no snowpeas, no green (or any) onions; peppers?--sorry, nope. Just a frozen bag of peas and carrots dumped in. Also, I requested and offered to pay for 3 extra eggs in my fried rice, she said "Okay, extra eggs" and of course it was just the regular, paltry amount of egg. Maybe they put more effort into the meat-meals, but this bland fried rice was far below par. The fast-food places like Panda Express or Pick-up-Stix could probably do better and cost a good deal less.Sad, because I live so close and really wanted to like this place.
