Also known as "Cat Lounge" to our group of friends - we love it! Neighborhood dive bar with pool tables and shuffle board, great drinks, fun staff, and the best Kombucha on Tap in town ...... gotta try the Mate Maker - it's so good!

This is definitely a local watering hole.Has everything you would want in a bar. Crowd mixed with young and older so the jukebox vibe is diverse.Really quick and attentive bartenders. They make sure to say hi to everyone. The security is friendly and fair. Billiards tables that work and there is shuffle board. TV's all over for sports recaps (not sure if they have live NFL or NBA). Prices are fair for domestic, import, and craft beers as well as spirits. Not sure if they serve food. Be nice if they let out a bowl of peanuts or pretzels. Overall it's nothing fancy but if you're new to the area or in the area it's a fine establishment to hang out. I wouldn't classify it as a dive bar - too lively and clean for that rank. There is an Irish pub next door with pretty good food as well!

One of my favorite dive bars! I love coming here, wish I lived closer. Luckily I have friends that live in the area. Great pool tables, good tap beer selection, fun happy hour specials, very dog friendly. Servers are usually always in a good mood and happy to serve. Nothing bad to say about this place.

So it's been a few years since my last visit to this spot and the vibe has changed. The bar service was horrible and there was a fight that broke out! This is not the Catalina Lounge I remember. The old bartenders are gone and so is that old bar vibe. So sad

This is one of the best dives in San Diego. Some cancel culture people need to get a life. If you can't be cool, then don't go to this bar for everyone's sake. If you know this place, you know the people and ambience are the best, that's why it's been around for 63 years and has so many regulars.

This review is for all the cheapskates, losers and trolls that have never stepped into a world class dive bar. If you read a stupid article from a douche bag drunk kid on the Daily Mail listen up....if you are here posting negatively about a business that you've never stepped into I can't explain how thick in the head you are. If you can't handle your alcohol to the point that you can't even read you shouldn't be at the bar anyway. There is no deception at Cat Lounge. It clearly gives you options to tip. I have willingly written in 100% tips for bartenders on a receipt and not on a hand held because I had a good time. Some of us like to tip people for an experience and service. And it seems like some of us don't know how to manage their money or alcohol so they complain, gripe or blame an establishment because they lack finances, tact, restraint, class or compassion. If you don't have any money, just say that and stay home. We don't want you there. I've been going to Cat Lounge for over 15 years. Beer is cold, drinks are stiff, service is hospitable, the snacks slap and, the pool tables are in abundance. It's one of the best dive bars in San Diego. Leave your negative opinions of an article on Facebook under your grandmas political posts. Keep it off of Yelp. I hope you have the day you deserve.

Thought this place was good because of the ratings. Bartender couldn't handle herself and seemed really peeved that i happened to have a question. Heard my question, said "ugh" then pointed at someone else to get their drink 7/2/24She wears glasses and is dirty blonde. Never experienced that before and all I could do is smile. Just moved into the area from out of state so I guess if you're not a local you're not welcome.

Stopped in for a few drinks. Service typical for a bar, drinks were ok / reasonable price. Why such a low score then? Use caution when paying by credit card when they hand you the device - default option is 100% gratuity. Yes, you read that right - not 10%, but 100%! Shameful business practices. Won't ever go back...
