Cafe V is a dining hall at UC San Diego with lots of different variations on the food. There is a section dedicated to Soul food, a section dedicated to desserts, a section for South Asian food, and one for Desserts. Overall there is a lot of variety within the different parts of Cafe V. Compared to other dining halls around UC San Diego, Cafe V is sort of in the middle. It is not the best but it is not the worst in my opinion. The service at this location is pretty good and is mostly student workers. You either order online via the Dining hall app or in person. You find your own seats and are expected to put your silverware and plates away. Cafe V is always clean and well kept. There are always free seats except during the most busy dinner rushes. The outside looks sort of like an opera house.

Wow, this is a great place for a Student, Faculty, and Staff Campus Dining Hall. They hosted an event for Black History Month and we attended. There was live music, several bands, a curated Soul Food and African Food Menu, delicious custom beverage punches, and fantastic desserts. The staff decorated the whole location, inside and out, for the Black History Month Celebration Theme. The Black Staff Association was also a partner with Housing and Dining Department.I look forward to the event next year as well. Impressive UC San Diego, great job!

The "Buffalo Chicken" max daddy bowl wasn't even Buffalo chicken. It's also chode-sized as well. Paid $5 extra for the to-go box and received the dine-in tray instead. They should stop hiring student workers for dining halls.

Food is on the cheaper end, but the quality shows. Main advantage is that they are pretty fast, but I would only go here as a last resort. The dining area is also quite clean.

One of my favorite meals to get at Cafe Ventanas is their signature daddy bowl. It reminds me of how I was adopted by a gay couple when I was a toddler and have since grown up with two dads. Other than that, Cafe Ventanas has successfully transformed a beautiful piece of architecture into the dining hall with by far the worst priced and worst quality meals on campus. 10/10 recommend.

Great pancakes, mid burgers. Whatever you do, don't try their chicken sandwiches, they're really dry.

Won't it be wonderful when black history and native American history and Jewish history and all of U.S. history is taught from one book. Just U.S. history.Maya AngelouScent of fried chicken is irresistible. I bite into a drumstick and am reminded of the old days when I was invited to my kid's mom's family bbq's. Fried chicken has that homemade flavor. Same with the bbq ribs. Sweet bbq sauce and the finished on the grill ribs taste like the past. How I miss those delicious meats and the made from scratch 7-Up cake. Red velvet cupcake was moist and I loved the mix of flavors from the cake and the sweet vanilla frosting. :-)Outside they had a tent setup for the entertainment. Dance groups performed while I was there. This was the Black History month lunch celebration. On my previous visit I had a bacon burger cooked to order. Watched as the cook put the beef paddy over the grill. Flavor from the beef, bacon, lettuce and tomato was good. Much better than Burger King but not as good as In-N-Out. Noticed some of the lettuce had been sitting out too long.Chicken tenders were big pieces of breast meat fried in a light batter. Flavor was quite good. I'd take them over what you will find at any fast food place.Pineapple turnover was a mystery turnover. Wish they had signs that stated what it was. Not a big fan of the canned pineapple filling. The pastry part was very dry and not edible unless you have enough pineapple filling to go with it.Compared to other food options at UCSD I'd rate Cafe Ventanas as better than Burger King or Panda Express but not as good as The Bistro or 64 North. Menu changes daily so you should visit when they are cooking something interesting like fried chicken and bbq ribs.

Back to school again! And what does that mean? Overpriced food and not much variety. Cafe V is your standard dining hall, except that it looks like an opera house from the outside. It's located right next to a green lawn, so if you ever want to take your lunch outside, feel free to do so! (But return the plates after...)The salad bar here has a bigger selection than other dining halls, except I am surprised there is no chicken breast chunks. There is also a good selection of parfait making stuff-fruits, yogurts, toppings. The hot entrees here are pretty impressive compared to other places, and now this year, (2015) they are sticking to grilled chicken breasts to all the body builders in this area! ($3.25 for one piece though?) Cashiers are super nice, and they like to strike a conversation! Not the best food ever, but they try! But I do like their steamed vegetables...so I'll be coming back for that.

When I went here to this cafe. I was appalled by the way students are treated by these adult managers. Everything was disorganized, the food that was made by these adult managers were horrendous. It smelt like death. This cafe is located on the corner of UCSD and I've heard many of my colleagues say to never go here again. I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED!!!

First I got the Yakisoba Noodles, which came in a tiny portion. On top of that they were way too oily and the tofu was completely plain. I was very disappointed. Since I was still hungry, I got the chicken ceaser salad wrap. This one was decently sized but the chicken wasn't great and the dressing was a sad excuse for ceaser dressing. The only thing that was good was that the service was very fast.
