Having Breakfast
Any chance y'all can bring back this spicy sandwich which had more flavor and was much tastier than the current plain spicy sauce sandwich.
Does that look plain thanks bunz for the heart burn

If you are truly interested in eating food that is made when ordered, please come here! My husband and I were staying a few hotels over and the bright sign definitely captivated us!We walked in around lunch time and noticed it was pretty empty; other than one other table was being occupied. We waited to be seated and given some time to order. We decided to split the Nashville spicy chicken sandwich and a vanilla shake. The shake was made immediately and brought over. It was the epitome of what you want when you think of a vanilla shake. I figured I'd wait to have at least half with my sandwich, I thought wrong. The chicken sandwich was truly prepared when ordered. Not used to the wait, I finished my shake but when I tell you the wait was worth it, it was worth it! Tracy was sweet and had the sandwich cut in half and split the fries as well. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and you didn't find yourself biting into any thick pieces of batter, no one truly likes that. It was the perfect level of spice and the coleslaw was a perfect pair; not super runny or dry. The fries were a little underwhelming, could have been a bit crispier but personally I like them a bit softer. Overall, if you're in the area check them out!

"Bunz is the brainchild of Chef and Restaurateur Jeff Rossman of Terra American Bistro." It says so, right on the Bunz website, and though I was surprised to read that note, it made sense. Though the Bunz menu is different from the one at Rossman's defunct Terra, it's equally overwrought, which explains the middling quality of the meals I've had over the years, at both places. Bunz is essentially a diner that takes advantage of the local hotel crowd who, being unfamiliar with our road and neighborhoods, prefer not to explore nearby Hillcrest or North Park, Linda Vista or Fashion Valley, or the wilds of DTSD. If that's you, maybe you're tired and just want diner food - simple, quick and easy. I understand your hesitation to venture out, and I have no problem with it, but there are better diners just a short drive from the 400 block of Hotel Circle South: Rudford's, D.Z. Akin's and Studio Diner come to mind. But if you're set on dining at Bunz, it will be helpful if you're ignoring the cost of everything you buy. $14 for a quesadilla? Fine. $15 for an omelet? Bring it. This is your vacation, and price is no object. Also, I mentioned that Bunz' menu is overwrought. You think you're tired now? Wait until you've sorted out, "Fish Tacos beer battered fish on corn tortillas, citrus slaw, guajillo salsa, white sauce with spanish rice and pinto beans" or, "Border Breakfast Bowl pinto beans, scrambled eggs, bacon, guajillo salsa, cheddar cheese 13.99 (add guacamole +2.99)"Remember your real life back home, where complexity doesn't enhance things' quality, or the quality of your experiences. Nothing changed once you got to San Diego. Most important: The business name "Bunz" implies that the restaurant is talented at preparing hamburgers; it says nothing about grease.Burgers should be simple stacks of meat and bread, and maybe veg and/or cheese. Bunz' kitchen delivers these things, but every burger I've eaten there has been greasy; not just the meat, which is of good quality, if difficult to have cooked to the proper temperature; but the buns, which always seem to have been brushed with grease. They're gorgeous - Insta-ready, really - but unpalatable.I've dined at Bunz several times, but no more. My system, and my brain, just can't take it.

So I ordered online. When I got there they were pretty empty & said they were just waiting on the onion rings, which was fine. Then they kept telling me it was almost out for more than 15 minutes. Onion rings don't take 15 minutes to fry. So when they finally gave me my food I tried a ring just to see lukewarm at best. Great. So I was going to give them 2 stars already, then I tried the burger. There were so many things wrong with it, it had a weird taste & texture, it was sopping with grease, but the thing I really don't even understand is there was something gritty either on or in it. Like IDK what that could even be?Poor service. Gross Burger. Stay Away.

Well, I don't recommend this place. One guy has to be cashier, server, and the one who cooks the food isn't the way to run a business! Takes forever to get the food served. Place is clean though and calm. I think this same guy cleans it too .

The staff was friendly and worked hard. I had the fish chips the first night and they were really good I liked the house sauce they had for the fish. Second time going I had the bacon cheddar burger with garlic fries which were both delicious. My daughter had the fish and chips, my son had a bacon cheddar with bbq sauce and regular fries and he loved it, my other son had the bacon cheddar with regular fries and also loved it. We sat on the patio and the staff made sure to check if we were doing ok. I definitely recommend you give it a try!!

Over the last 7 years, we have been here about 5 times. I would say that we have always had very good service, and the food has always been good too!I have dietary restrictions as I am a vegetarian by choice, but also have Celiac Disease and need to order gluten-free. I was very happy to see that this last time we visited, they had a gluten-free bun on the menu. I also like that I could order sparkling wine and that there is a pretty decent adult beverage menu. This time we went to eat there, we took 7 of the volunteers for my nonprofit Traci's Paws, to eat after they volunteered the late shift for our recent charity event, and they all really enjoyed it.It was the first time for all 7 of them to dine here, and I think that many of them will be back. While this restaurant is probably here for the hotels that are within walking distance, I really like that it feels like it is off of the beating path and like a hidden gem that I can sneak off to when I want a really good burger that feels like my parents made, and not "fast food".

This place is NEVER opened. We stayed here for four days and three nights and tried it several times for breakfast, lunch, and again for dinner, and it was always closed. The hours are posted on the door, but it's not accurate. We also tried calling and/or order online takeout and delivery, but the website didn't work. This must be a front of some other business. Just kidding, but for reals....
