My lettuce sandwich with a very thin slice of turkey. I don't get the high reviews here. And they don't honor the Yelp Checkin offer listed.
Meatball sub
It's a huge sandwich!

The woman working here is so friendly and sweet. She spoke to us like we were family. Makes me happy and smile when I see her! We ordered three sandwiches. They are so massive and long. It's as long as finger tips to my elbow. I think we will have left over to bring home and enjoy the next day. It comes with mamas love juice, which I hope they would do bigger containers of for to go in the future. Small shop with minimal seating but it's more of a grab and go place. We are bringing ours to the beach! Got two bags of chips with our sandwiches it came out to be around $36 I believe. Then we ordered one of the San Pellegrino Lemonata and that was ~$3. Sandwiches ordered, lots of bread & nice and soft- all sandwiches come with mayo, mustard, lettuce, thinly sliced onions, and tomatoes. You can specify if you want everything or what you don't want added. - SoHo: Turkey, genoa salami, swiss cheese, tomato & Dijon mustard. This sandwich is delicious with the thinly sliced onions. I liked that they used dijon mustard specifically for this! The Genoa salami was so tasty. - BMH: Capicola, ham, and provolone cheese. This is a basic (aka classic) sandwich for those that don't want to adventure too far from a ham sandwich lunch. It came with an abundance of lettuce. Tastes so good with the mamas love juice dressing! - Southside: Ham, Cotto & Genoa Salami, capicola, Provolone w/ the choice of mild or hot giardiniera. I ordered to have mine with mild giardiniera-- this is an Italian relish! Wish there was more of this throughout the sandwich. I like the array of different cold meats in this sandwich, I always learn about a new meat while ordering here. Got salt and vinegar chips, they tasted great. And also sour cream and onion chips which was also good, but not my preference with sandwiches. The San Pellegrino Lemon flavor drink was super refreshing and fizzy.

I guess the lowest grade I can give this place is 1 star; they definitely don't deserve it.I got an Italian sandwich from this place. I asked the lady if it had pepperoncinis, and she said for $1.00, I could have a side, which I opted for. When I looked at the sandwich, it had one piece of ham, one piece of salami, one more slice of another Italian meat, and one slice of provolone. When I questioned the skimpy sandwich, the rude lady said to me, "We have been here since 1960, and that's how we make our sandwiches." I replied by saying, "That's not a lot of meat, unlike other Italian delis." As I asked for my money back, I mentioned to her that I was going to place a review on Yelp. She said to me, "I'm going to put a review on you." LOL.I think she fails to recognize that it's not 1960; a lot has changed in 64 years, and people expect more than a skimpy sandwich. If anyone out there is looking for a great Italian sub: San Diego Sandwich Co, Grab & Go subs, JJ, Subway, Jersey Mikes to name a few amazing sandwich shops. Avoid this place like the plague.

It was my first time being to BMH Italian. My husband has been there before, so he recommended we go there to grab sandwiches for dinner. I ordered a torpedo sandwich with no onions, and my husband ordered a meatball sub. We both got a cannot also. There was a nice lady who greeted us,I believe her name was Tina. She took our order and she also made our sandwiches too. The shop is going through a renovation and now has a new owner than previously. They did buy the family's recipes and kept the name. The price was great and the food was delicious. The only thing I would say is that once I got home, I realized they left the onions on my sandwich when I asked for no onions. We would definitely come there again.

Wonderful hidden gem in La Mesa. On this particular day, I was craving a sandwich and decided to google places and landed on this one. I'm so glad I did. I ordered the Tuscany with just mortadella. Huge sandwich with all the fixings and a great Italian dressing on the side to add. Staff is so friendly and the owner is extremely charming and wants his customers to be happy, that's hard to find these days. This is a hole in the wall establishment and they serve dinner and to go premade items. I wish I had decided on eating a cannoli but I was too full to even consider it. This place is a must try if you're in the area.

Great Italian Deli. We met the new owner, he was so nice. He was already closed and we didn't realize and he opened back up for us! It is our favshop and we haven't been in a while. The place looks a bit crazy because he is in the midst of upgrading some things. Can't wait to see it being upgraded. Soups are gone for summer which makes sense. Thanks for letting us in we loved our sub! Wishing you success!

Meatball sandwich, sour cream and onion chips, diet coke. They do have seating inside for 20. The meatball tasted similar to sausage its mild not sweet. Not much sauce. Bread a-ok and too much to eat. Service a bit slow because they forgot my sandwich even though I tipped 15% to insure prompt service. Parking on street readily available. They have ravioli, manicotti, chicken parm, and italian sausage too.

Love having a true Italian deli in San Diego! BMH had been around my whole life, and provides premium quality meats and cheeses. The staff is always extremely helpful--you can go in, tell them what you're looking for, and they'll put together a sampling for you. Whether you're looking to assemble a local quality charcuterie board or put some traditional, non-grocery store proccuioto on your sandwiches (please do yourself a favor and never buy prepackaged Italian cured meat--buy fresh!), they've got you covered. And their in-house hand crafted sandwiches are *chefs kiss!* Highly recommend!
