The 'real deal' Thai! Our waiter John came over from Siamese Basil where we enjoyed Sandy's food for years. After she retired and closed her doors there was a major shortage of authentic Thai food on the North County coast. Birdseye has more than filled that void. Fresh ingredients and sauces that 'wow' with quality flavors and textures. This joint 'rules the roost' for great Thai at the beach!

Tried this place a few years later after my initial review. The online ordering was over 90 MINUTES. When I arrived 30 minutes later they told me "they are working on it" so I waited another 30 minutes. All the employees were standing around since it was 4:45pm on a Thursday, not doing anything. The manager was sitting eating with a bunch of people and even forgot to put in someone's order (at least the employees were calling her the manager). When the poor guy showed up, she had to run his order to the kitchen. After another 15 minutes - OVER AN HOUR later, I asked to cancel my order and they said "it should be up any minute" and wouldn't let me cancel it, They didn't offer me anything to drink. After all of that the food portion was SOOOO small for $18 noodles. I couldn't even share them. Such a mistake trying out this place again. Will go to Thai Society, Similian Thai or Bangkok Bay instead.

Decided to drop by on the way down from a doctor's appointment in Carlsbad. It's along the coast in a nice downtown Main Street of Encinitas so no real parking but I was able to find street parking right in front. Service was really nice here but the food was underwhelming and lacked a lot of flavor.Majority of it did and I only tried 2 items and both lacked flavor. My son had pho and kept having to add condiments. We ordered the house special noodles which is khao piak. Very bland I had to ask for fish sauce. I did like the texture of the noodles. The glass noodles salad was bland and sour. It also tasted like it could've been more softer in some hot water since it was still a bit hard. My son's pho was bland. I didn't try the chicken drunken noodles I ordered for my nephew. My mom had the khao poon nam pla which is weird its called that since it consisted of shrimp.I saw a lot of Lao dishes on the menu but tasting the basics of the Lao food was not cutting it for me. Veryyy pricey for food that needs work. Maybe tailored to the taste buds of that area for their guests/tourists in that area. Nice views and breeze going through since it was like an open garage.

This charming Encinitas gem offers a delightful dining experience with fresh, vibrant flavors. The Summer Rolls are a perfect blend of crisp flavorful vegetables and tofu, paired beautifully with peanut and plum sauces. The Pineapple Red Curry bursts with sweet and ending savory notes, while the Cucumber with Wood Ear Mushrooms adds a refreshing, tangy kick--all enjoyed in a warm, inviting atmosphere with attentive service.

Decided to give this place another try after many many many years. My first visit was lackluster and unmemorable. Came back last week and was reminded why I wasn't a more frequent visitor. Despite the Panang Curry with duck (why they're even getting a 4 star) being surprisingly good as I knew it was gonna be a safe bet, charging an atrocious $36 for it is just wrong. I've never felt so robbed eating Thai food in my life. Base price of curry was $18 (high but reasonable), wild salmon or duck add on was an additional $18 (this better have been organic free range well picked duck)The menu is quite confusing ranging from Vietnamese, to Lao, to Thai cuisine, with a little bit of Chinese in there (chow fun). It's basically overpriced "elevated" Asian food. I say elevated based on the premium on my duck price.I don't know if I'd ever come back a third time. It's an OK establishment but I just know what authentic Thai/lao/viet food should taste like AND cost and neither hits the spot for me.

Great ambiance, good service, decent food.We got the calamari to start, which was a touch tough. I don't think we'd order it again.Chicken pad thai was fine, just a bit sweet. I do like that they have four different fixin's to add if you so desire: crushed peanuts, chili flakes, chili oil, and sambal oelek. The panang curry was also sweet, but that was fine with us. My husband was less of a fan than I was, but I'm easy to please when it comes to curry.Overall fine for nearby Thai, but not a go-to for us.

I have to update my review of Birdseye kitchen. Authentic Thai cuisine and a wide array of choices on the menu. Imperial rolls are a must, Tom yum soup delicious, noodle and rice dish choices are plentiful. The pad see ewe wide noodles, pineapple rice, drunken noodles and glass noodle dishes are great as well. Green curry and massaman curries are delicious as well. Authentic flavors in a great ambiance restaurant.

6:30 dinner on Thursday night. High quality ingredients and good food! The noise level is extremely LOUD. Impossible to have a conversation with a party of 5. Ambiance gets a big zero.Service is mediocre.

Everyone else in our party of 8 loved their meal, but mine was like a soup of soy sauce with some veges in it,mostly my fault for ordering a rice dish vegan. Brown rice was not very good either. But my real complaint was when we were presented with the bill. The wait person just walked up to the table and said our bill was for $258.00.We had multiple parties chipping in on it and also were curious if the tip was included or not and so asked for a paper bill, which she went and got for us. Sure enough a 45$ tip was in the total.I have worked many years in the restaurant business and thought that way of presenting the bill was very inappropriate. So buyer beware.
