Took the tour of North Park coffee tastings. What I noticed: * Line grows in the blink of an eye and on a busy day, because the space is pretty small + open cafe concept, it's hard to not notice that the workers in the front are pretty frazzled and you have to be ready with your order (which isn't a bad thing - most of the time spent here is in line with just a few minutes of waiting for your drink - they just aren't wasting any time it seems.) * Their pastries are DELICIOUS. Came back for their portuguese donuts (which either are or are just super similar to malasadas) and egg tarts. Super light & just enough. * Coffee itself was just as good as one would expect. If I still lived here, would probably frequent Bica, especially if there isn't a long line.

I was excited about visiting this place after I read a tidbit about it! Unfortunately, I had high hopes it was a Portuguese Cafe as their name, Bica means cafe. I will blame it on my misunderstanding of the article and name of this cafe,The menu did not have much selection from someone coming all the way from the beach area looking for Portuguese food and pastries at Bica. I ordered the tuna sandwich to go but ended up not eating it as I had changed my mind... It was not inexpensive, that is for sure. The customer service experience there could have been better. It is difficult to run a business. There was not much decor inside where we order. Their few shelved items were mostly from Spain, France and Italy. One item was from Portugal, and I caught a symbol of Portugal - the Portuguese rooster!! : ) That was nice and mysterious!I was hoping to purchase a few items to enjoy at home.I would say, if you are looking for Portuguese food items for your at home cuisine, to go to Point Loma. I am still waiting for a Portuguese restaurant to open so i can enjoy a nice authentic meal. I certainly hope customers do not believe this cafe is a Portuguese Cafe. It certainly is not. I am hoping Bica will offer more in the near future. I wish them great success.

Loved the milky oolong, had to be quick to take a photo before we chugged it! Staff is friendly and helpful, plenty of outdoor seating to do work or hangout at, and an awesome selection of drinks and misc items. I love their logo! Definitely will be coming back.

Small location with beautiful patio. Staff has been friendly every time ive come here. They have craft lattes and several options for sweet toasts and savory sandwiches/bagels. Ive had the tuna sandwich and it was stuffed with meat its a little bit pricy at $17 i believe. Flavors are solid though. They also dont have iced teas at the moment (only hot) and i think that would really elevate their establishment if they started doing that.Ive had the orange cardamom latte and that was really good too! Their prices are all on the expensive side but putting that aside, the quality of their drinks and food are great and nothing to complain about.

This is my fav cafe in San Diego at the moment! I shamelessly visited three days in a row last week! The weather was perfect for the patio (def less ppl during the week). The baristas are super welcoming and knowledgeable- loved their recs and service. Cannot get enough of their cortados! They serve coffee and espresso from Provecho. Also loving their matcha which is sourced from Paru. Their tartines are also incredible! I'm obsessed with their pbj (best I've ever had!) and their lox is also wonderful. Ready to try their cured meat/deli sandwich next time!

Bica in Normal Heights has a charming atmosphere - cute decor and a nice patio. It seemed like a promising spot for a casual lunch, but the experience fell a bit short. We were disappointed to find that they were out of all their sandwiches by lunchtime. This was a major letdown, as the sandwiches were what initially drew us in. I ended up with the Ricotta Toast. The ricotta was creamy and fresh, and the jam they used was pretty good. While the ricotta toast was good, it was a simple dish and didn't quite justify the cost. The coffee was expensive too for how small the portions were.

Yum! I've been waiting to try this cafe and I'm so happy I had the chance to! There's minimal indoor seating but plenty of outdoor seating. We ordered the ricotta toast, tuna sandwich and the prosciutto sandwich. I'm sorry, I forgot the names but all were wonderful. Bica is also very dog friendly as it is San Diego!
