Excellent food and a pleasant outdoor courtyard for summer evening dining. I've eaten at a few different places in Old Town and so far this has been my favorite. If you like northern Indian/Nepalese/Himalayan food, then you'll enjoy this. Best of all, there is a variety of great options for vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores alike.I enjoyed the Veggie Momos (Steamed) and would recommend them. But in particular, I loved the Ram Torya (Bhindi Tarkari), which was the best okra dish I've ever had. It had a lot of other vegetables mixed into it than I am used to getting when I order a bhindi masala and I really loved the combination of those flavors. I will order that every time I come here!

Solidly deserving of four stars, this is definitely the best Indian/Nepalese dining in this area of San Diego. Our server was attentive and quick and gave great suggestions. We started out with the cheese naan- although it was definitely piping hot and fresh it wasn't really to my taste. It was a bit on the dry side. The chicken MoMo, Murgh Curry and Nawaratna Biryani were all delicious. My first time having MoMo and I was very excited that it lived up to my expectations. The curry was delicious although I thought the way it was presented, made it look like a deceivingly large portion when in fact was on the smaller side. The bottom of that serving container was elevated, and there was nothing below it. The Nawaratna Biryani had the most delightful flavor profile- a low heat and a bit of sour. The raita sauce that came with it was the perfect compliment. I especially liked the little chunks of paneer and tofu in the dish. It had a lot of vegetables in it, which I did enjoy but I thought was kind of strange. I've never seen squash and broccoli and other Indian restaurants or in my travels in India. I love all the veggies though so bring them on!I thought the restaurant itself was kind of shabby. Tables looked like they had seen better days. It was chilly outside so we sat it one of the indoor tables where they had some booth seating. I don't know what that seat was made out of but it made my butt sweat while I was sitting there. Didn't love that.

I had read about this Nepalese spot in Old Town of all places from the SD Reader. I was curious and had to try it. When you walk in there is lots of seating in a nice open courtyard. The smell of incense is in the air. You definitely get an Indian food kind of vibe from the place but that is suiting as India neighbors Nepal in the Himalayas. The service was great and the lady waiting on our table was very soft spoken and polite. I got the paneer saag and I was honestly not the biggest fan. I felt like this was really just another Indian food spot but advertising itself as a Nepalese spot. But maybe they really are just the same thing as a sipped on my mango lassi...

We sat out on the patio, with the kids. Staff was A+, food was A+. We ate until we were stuffed. We will be back every time we are in San Diego!!

Look, I know you're in Old Town and you want Mexican food. Fine. Have that one night, but then be sure to pay Bhojan Griha a visit. I was surprised by how good it was, being that it's surrounded by tacos, burritos and margaritas on every other corner, but this place is legit. Most of the seating is outdoors, which just makes my heart happy. Any time I can eat under the stars I will take that opportunity. Even in January-they have patio heaters to keep the temperatures comfortable. The décor is vibrant and colorful with a Nepali flare and the smells of the different foods waft out of the courtyard, beckoning people to come take a glance at the menu.My wife and I ordered the chicken tikka masala and the lamb along with an order of plain naan. I really enjoyed my dish, although my wife reported that it was slightly too tomato-y. I think it's a personal preference, however. I really liked the lentil soup that is brought out as an appetizer. It's unique and filling-not a light soup, so be prepared for that. Service was pleasant, although subdued. I would definitely recommend grabbing a meal here-and perhaps plan on leftovers; the portion sizes are pretty large.

It wasn't a busy day when my wife and I had lunch at Bhojan Griha. The reason being, it was on a weekday. Out of all of the food places around Old Town, my wife chose this place. Great choice! Our server was very friendly and informative. We had a couple of questions in regards to the items on their menu, and she was so detailed in explaining what it was. The place was nice and clean, and the majority of the seating was outdoors. It would look amazing during the night, as there were so many light decorations. My wife and I decided to go for their Fresh Vegetable Samosa, and it was delicious. Fresh made and hot. I decided to go for their lunch special in which you have to choose 1 vegetarian and 1 non-vegetarian item. The combo also includes their potato carrot salad with some fresh salad. My wife ordered their shrimp biryani, which she loved and a delicious dish they have as well. Will be going back here for sure.

Comfortable atmosphere and attentive staff with outstanding food. The chilli veggie momo was flavorful, and the tandoori chicken and chicken tikka masala dishes were both delicious and expertly prepared. The only downside to this place is that it's located in Old Town so parking can sometimes be difficult, but it's well worth the effort!

Such heart-warming, comforting, filling food made by hand with love. Made me homesick for Chef Sanjog Chaudhary's country, lol! I was trembling from low blood sugar at 4 pm, having forgotten to eat lunch, and staggered, shivering and shaking, into an empty restaurant. I was welcomed to a choice of indoor or outside tables on a spacious patio. As soon as I ordered, they brought a small bowl of daal- lentil soup, which hit the spot on such a chilly rainy day!I ordered:1. Garlic and Herb naan: perfectly toasted and not as heavily salted as typical restaurant naan- topped with a smidge of garlic, fenugreek leaves and oregano. Paired exceedingly well with the extra sauce from my samosa chaat- I wiped up every last drop with this heavenly thin crispy yet soft and filling bread. I took one slice home and while still good, I suggest you just eat it fresh at the restaurant for max texture appreciation.2. Samosa chaat- my fav samosa topped with bits of puri, crunchy carrot, onion, coriander- aka cilantro, fresh tomato and peas, then dressed with yogurt, coriander chutney, and tamarind chutney. The tomato-onion-cilantro combo reminded me of the Mexican vibe of the surrounding neighborhood. Just like topping a potato taquito with salsa fresca, crema and chamoy! Yum! I broke up the samosa into bits and scooped a generous spoonful of the chaat for a delicious mouthful that hit every sensory nerve in my palate (except pain, haha). Crispy, soft, hot, cold, savory, sweet, tangy, salty, umami, so great with the naan. 3. Lamb momo: I should have stopped before ordering this, but I was so hungry! I was only able to finish half the order which was 8 dumplings. These were moist, tender dumplings that could be a meal on their own. I polished off the last 4 the next day and they were still delicious! Although they are wrapped in a similar shape to Chinese xiaolongbao, the wrap is much thicker and there is no broth. They came with a mild tomato based creamy chutney that I could have sipped a quart of. Still, I found myself craving a little extra heat with this dish so I ordered a side fermented of pickle - the perfect little ultra sour, salty pungent crunch with a pepper kick. If you want truly hot spice- go with the habanero sauce. I wasn't so brave. Also, they tell you the pickles are mild but if you don't have a good chili tolerance or ability to eat very fermented strong tasting food, don't get it. Personally I loved it! Will definitely be back if I am in the area. The only down side is very tight street parking.

The majority of seating is outdoors, which was nice. However, I went in with certain expectations of Indian cuisine, and the flavors were a bit different from what I'm used to. The butter chicken leaned towards sweetness, almost like honey, which was unexpected. The chicken vindaloo was decent, as was the naan bread. But what really stood out to me were the chicken Jhol Momos, reminiscent of gyozas but with a unique twist that I enjoyed. If you visit, don't expect the typical Indian flavors you're accustomed to. Service was good too.
