Yesterday was my first visit to Salam Cafe as I went to pick up my TooGoodToGo meal for $5.39. What an amazing meal at this price, and I'm glad I got to try Salam Cafe. When walking in, the interior was bright and I was greeted with smiles from the staff. There is ready made food buffet style to create your own platter. I'm not sure of their usual prices, but I'll be sure to upload a menu my next visit! The chicken was fall off the bone tender, and I enjoyed my sides of veggies as well. The injera was very good, nice and spongy great texture and always the best way to sop up all of the delicious Ethiopian food.I'm looking forward to my next visit and update!

I've tried a few different Ethiopian places and this is some of the best I've tried. Normally I'm not a huge fan of collard greens but I loved these, they were tender and delicious. The bread was thick and spongey and portioned correctly for the amount of vegetables in the platter. I would certainly return if I were in the area again.

I stopped by this place after watching it to be featured on 6 ABC. The owners are super friendly and welcoming. The food is served cafeteria style, you can pick an entree that comes with 2 sides and a choice of rice or injera ( it has the texture of a crepe in grayish color). I had 2 drumsticks with green beans and cabbage. All of them are tasty. There are 2 sizes of baklava, the big one has cheese fillings. I prefer the small ones because they have nuts fillings. They also have some pastries with several filling options: beef, chicken, vegetarian. I bought chicken one and it is flavorful with a hint of spiciness. You can also get hummus (regular or spicy) and baba ganoush.Don't forget to check out the grocery section and grab delicious Milk Jawn ice cream.I definitely interested in trying the other menu items

We have been very eager to try this place and I gotta say it was kinda disappointing. I got rice pudding and it tasted like soap. The Baklava was very wet and sticky. Deserts are not their forte. The Babaghanoush was stringy. I guess it wasn't fully blended. My wife likes spicy food but the salmon was so spicy she couldn't eat it. I tried too. I got the baked chicken and it was one small pigeon leg with bone in. Not much meat at all once you got it all off. Not a lot of bang for your buck. I guess I'm used to West Philly places like Queen of Sheba where you get way too much food for one meal. One injera isn't enough. I got two side orders of rice but it was maybe 2 cups. Anyway we are glad we tried but if I want something quick and close again I'll go to the Jamaican joint across the street. If I want Ethiopian Fievel will go west.

This restaurant is cafeteria style and has plenty of seats. It's clean and has an international non-perishable goods selection in the back. I got the chicken kabob platter that came with rice, chick peas and greens. My husband got the beef stew entree with injera, spicy lentils and split peas. Food feels and tastes like a home cooked meal. The place gives me Hardena vibes. We grabbed a beef and chicken pastry for the walk back to the car! They didn't make it to the pictures, we were so excited! The pomegranate lassi is very good! They're zabiha as well.

This place is a must! The cafe is really cute inside, with a little marketplace in the back with lots of Ethiopian and Middle Eastern grocery items and spices. We went on a Saturday when they were having Buna (coffee roasting ceremony!) and it was a blast. They do this once a month! The staff treated you like family and everyone was incredibly warm and personable. It was amazing to talk and learn more about Ethiopian food and culture. And to top it all off, the food was amazing. They have lots of vegetarian options and their beef tips and salmon was perfectly seasoned. We cannot wait to come back!

Very good injera and sauces, in a clean and casual venue. I ordered the stewed seasoned beef, which came with several accompaniments, all served atop fresh injera. The chai latte I ordered tasted like it was from a mix. It took awhile to arrive; but was hot and decent. Service was okay overall.

Wow! Really great food here. I went for lunch with a friend and he's been to Ethiopia a few times. I love Ethiopian food so I'm familiar with it. We both gave it two thumbs up! I got the Ethiopian beef and my friend got the chicken. The injera was AWESOME. Great service and a nice restaurant. I highly recommend this place!!

Very disappointing ! Falafel was super dry no dressing no dressing on the salad like none no lemon juice no lemon slice no on the hummus. The hummus was salty and flavorless... other people came 1015 minutes after us, we sat and waited for 30 minutes 40 minutes... finally we got two glasses of cold water, which was very good.. watched other people get served food waited waited finally here comes my falafel plate. Dry salad with no dressing dry salad, dry dry food. Nothing was on that plate, but the plate was horrible. No lemon on the hummus no oil on the hummus.. I have to say I've never had a yeah drier more flavorless falafel platter anywhere... when we spoke to the server/cook/food prepare he just laughed and said I'll try better next time.. there won't be next time!
