My wife and I visited here while on a trip to Texas. We were the only patrons in the establishment, so we had an informative and memorable time speaking with the owner about the roots and growth of his business. He's very knowledgeable and a likable guy. We sampled all of his bourbon, enjoyed each one, and brought a bottle home. Saving it for a special occasion!

Went to check out the facility and the product. Was quite impressed. The liquor was quite good. A little on the pricey side but not bad. The taste and effects made it worth the money in the end.The tour was cool. Was nice to learn about things like this. My husband had a great time. The people were very very friendly. Loved visiting with them. The only reason they didn't get 5 stars is ambiance. It was like standing in a warehouse (a small one at that). Perhaps over time they will grow and make a patio or lounge area for visitors to relax while indulging in their brew.

Rio Brazos Distillery is a hidden gem. The tasting room is inside of a working barrel room in an unassuming metal building in College Station, next door to Perrine Winery. You get past the barrels, and you will see the mood-lit bar, frequently manned by Nathan himself, the owner and very hands-on master distiller. Try a flight, if you're unsure of what you'd like. Rio Brazos has been around long enough that Nathan has been able to nicely age his bourbon, giving it the lingering complex notes that you'd expect from a good bourbon, without being overly sweet or harsh. If straight bourbon is not your thing, Rio Brazos also offers mixed drinks. My go-to is an Old Fashioned, but I also enjoy the Rob Roy and the Whiskey Buck, the latter of which is nice and refreshing on a Texas summer evening. (If you're interested in a history lesson, ask how the Whiskey Buck got its name. Nathan is full of trivia and historical tidbits.) Although I still have four bottles of various bourbon and whiskey from Rio Brazos at home, I find myself going back for the mixed drinks and the company. It's a nice place to have a drink in College Station away from the crowds of students and bachelorette parties. I highly recommend Rio Brazos Distillery to anyone looking for a good Texas bourbon.

Tasty whiskey and impeccable customer service. I visited with my husband and infant and ended up staying an additional hours just chatting with the owner. Some of the best whiskey I have had in TX so far--definitely worth the visit!

Great whiskey made by fabulous people. Stop by on a Friday or Saturday evening and, if you're over 21, have a sample of their 2 whiskeys: Whistle Stop and Boxcar. Whistle Stop is unaged and clear. It has a smooth, clean flavor and finish. Boxcar is the barrel aged version with an interesting coconut vanilla note. Both work beautifully in mixed drinks, which are available for purchase at the distillery. The whiskeys are available for purchase at the distillery, as well as at Spec's.

Went here a couple times while visiting College Station. A great little distillery. The "white" whiskey was excellent! I hope to be back and try some of the aged stuff. They serve whiskey tasters and even whip up a few tasty cocktails as well.As a bonus, there are often food trucks out front on the weekends, and a brewery next door. The owner was a really nice guy, and fun to chat with about all things whiskey.
