A wonderful first time experience. We stopped in for brunch today, a wonderful waitress, wish I remembered her name now... The restaurant was clean, well staffed with everyone being pleasant. Loved the vibe and lighting. I enjoyed the falafel wrap and a Cesar salad which was AWESOME! When in the area I would def stop in again

We stopped by Red Owl Tavern after an early morning flight to Philadelphia. It wasn't too busy and our waitress was kind. Their breakfast menu was a simple one-pager. We each ordered Two Eggs Your Way with sour dough bread. I had gone with the applewood bacon and my boyfriend went with the chicken sausage. The jam was so delicious, we were a big fan of it. The meal was very filling. We also ordered a bowl of fruit that included grapes, bananas, clementines, and pomegranate.

Solid brunch options to choose from near Independence Hall and Liberty Bell. I came by on a rainy day, and luckily they were able to squeeze us in before their next round of reservations. Everything was kind of heavy, so I'm glad that we split two dishes between three people. Breakfast tostada was my favorite out of the two. I liked that there was brightness from the pico and whipped avocado. The carnitas were seasoned very well. It didn't feel as heavy as the tavern breakfast bowl. The tavern breakfast bowl is good if you feel super hungry, but it was a lot. The potatoes and gravy made it super filling. A little too salty as well, but waiters come around often to make sure you have enough water. All the dishes seem relatively normal, nothing that is super creative, but they cook them well. Also very filling and a good way to start the day.

Red Owl Tavern is connected with the Kimpton Hotel in Philly. We had free breakfast vouchers so we gave them a try. It gets pretty busy so try to make reservations we arrived just before the brunch crowd started to trickle in. I looked up and there were no empty spots at the bar that quick. Breakfast was breakfast nothing to rave home about. The potatoes were salty and overcooked and so were the chicken sausages. Babe said the cappuccino was not good he didn't even drink it. Inside is small so it's a little tight in there when it's crowded.

My go-to whether I stay at the hotel attached or not. THe food is great, you can work from the tables or counter with ease and the coffee is unmatched.

The bartender was nice. He didn't give any recommendations or ask if I had been there (which is okay but helps pick what to eat). The place seemed clean, wasn't too loud around 2:30ish. The spicy crab artichoke dip WAS AMAZING. The cider I tried was good and was given a class for. The Caesar salad was okay; the shrimp seemed to be a tad burnt. Overall, I would go back for that dip and try something else!

Our original plan for lunch at another place fell through, and I'm so glad! Red Owl Tavern was lovely! Super friendly staff, quick service and delicious food. To our delight, although it was past noon, we were offered a brunch/lunch combo menu with lots of tasty choices. Outdoor seating in the shade under large red umbrellas so was relaxing! Next time, Red Owl Tavern will be our first choice!

Located adjacent to our hotel (Kimpton Monaco) this tavern evokes a warm colonial feeling of a classic tavern. Dishes are modern, however and tastes were spot on. Beet salad w/ added chicken was cooked perfectly. Side of sweet potato risotto was a bit overcooked but tasted fine. Special of the day was a Duck Breast cooked mid rare as requested. THE most tender duck I've ever had despite being pre-sliced thicker than usual. Side of maiitake mushrooms were great but the sautéed mixed vegetables were served cold (?). Taste again was quite good but I can't conceive that they wanted this disparity of temps on one plate. Desserts were a best ever butter pecan ice cream from Franklin Fountain and a chocolate disc with cocoa nibs.

The cuisine was just right. I asked the nice waiter where a directionally challenged Septuangenarian can get to the Liberty Bell. His directions were spot on. He even told me how to find Independence Hall. Five Stars all the way.

We went here for my birthday brunch last week. Our trip started off great, the restaurant provided great details on where to park and directions to walk there. They sat us when we arrived 15 minutes earlier (even though we mentioned we didn't mind waiting, but we wanted to come in from the rain). We got to choose between the high top, which was nice, but right by the door and we decided would be too cold or a booth. We went upstairs to a booth, which is definitely not for you if you are claustrophobic because it was quite dark, but we were all okay. Our waitress was friendly, definitely busy, but attentive when she could be. Unfortunately there was a fire alarm that went off about 5 minutes after our plates came out. (Which we were told had definitely been a false alarm) We had to wait outside in the rain with no information for 15ish minutes after hearing it was false, than real, than false again. Totally not their fault an alarm went off, but have someone from management (especially since it's connected to the hotel) informing people of what is going on. Even when people were allowed back in they guessed because the fire truck drove off, not because someone announced it to all the attendees. However, all of our dishes were remade free of charge which definitely made up for the lack of information! We were able to eat our food warm and have leftovers for later which was a very pleasant treat. We would definitely like to return after heading to some of our other must-try brunch bookmarks!
