Rao's Bakery

This place is trash. I use to come here as a little girl when I was a Girl Scout but over the years the service has deteriorated. Upon arriving a young cashier (by the name of Kat- according to the manager) was at the register, along with the manager, counting dollars and coins, separating them (I guess those were tips). Not once did I get greeted properly by either Kat or Tristan. Kat continued to count money with her head down while I stood at the register. The manager, Tristan, walked away to answer the phone. She finally looked up after about a minute and a half and said, "I'm ready when you are." I responded, "I can't tell" because I truly could not tell. She didn't look like she was ready to take my order after twirling with coins on the counter. Once Kat finally gave me her undivided attention, I told her I would like a full panini with turkey, pesto NO bacon with a tomato roasted garlic soup. She was very short with me when taking my change. I came back inside before my order was complete to ask for a cup for water. After a few bites of my food, I realized that there was tons of bacon in it. By that time, I was already fed up with Kat's rude Attitude and incompetence. When I came back to the counter, I explained to her that my order had bacon on it. I requested a refund or to just speak to the manager. When I realized the manager was the rude young man that was at the counter with her, I truly just wanted my money back. As the manager gave me a refund, Kat - distracted again- got the other guest's order wrong. I told the manager she needs to be talked to because she was rude to me, and not only got my order wrong but also the gentlemen's order as well. She starts to argue with me in front of not only the employees but customers as well. Truly unprofessional. The only good thing I experienced at this location was the kindliness and friendliness of Max and Jena! They greeted me when I first walked in and still tried to assist me after Tristan and Kat left me hanging at the register. Max should honestly be the new manager because Tristan did not handled this customer issue with elegance. Tristan even talked crap about me to another guest explaining how the owner doesn't like dealing with "customers like me." Instead of pointing the finger and saying, "I already told the owner you're causing a scene." Be a MANager and delegate the business according to your customers needs and happiness. Safe to say, Rao's is no longer my fav place to enjoy a turkey sandwich with gelato.

Pleasantly surprised at how wonderfully cozy and "bakery" this place really is. Table seating is ample, the cases are filled with beautiful cakes, pastries, cookies, and other desserts. Christmas treats are brimming in baskets, on shelves and counters, and the menu offers soups, sandwiches, and salads in addition to breakfast items.I had a chicken salad sandwich on a croissant, a mug of chicken noodle soup, and hot tea. Everything was absolutely delicious and satisfying. I left with 2 dozen iced Christmas cookies for my Christmas Eve dinner party dessert table.Service was welcoming and very friendly.I will definitely be back!

If you're looking for a bakery, a real authentic bakery, with actual choices from everything from gelato, to macaroons, to puff pastries to decadent looking cakes and delicious coffee to wash it all down with, this is the place you need to be. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I've been here a few times and each time it's been for something sweet and a coffee. I've never considered myself as someone who likes sweets, normally I would rather have a bowl of mashed potatoes over a bowl of ice cream, but something about this place just reminds me of growing up in Chicago and hitting the bakery stores with my grandma and my aunt Liz, it just brings me back to that wonderful time and I can't help but indulging. Houston has a lot going for it, but bakeries was definitely not one of them in my opinion, that is until I found Rao's. Take it from an old Italian, this is where you want to go to impress anyone with an array of desserts or simply a coffee and a break out of the house. Take yourself to Rao's and enjoy your afternoon

First visit to this establishment and received a warm welcome from half the staff when I walked through the door. A surplus of deserts ie cakes, cookies, pies, and even ice cream flooded the establishment. The staff was extremely helpful with their recommendations. I finally settled on the carrot cake, blueberry muffin, and gelato ice cream; red velvet and mint. I sampled the ice cream first and it was really good and the carrot cake was extremely moist; as cake should be and very delicious. A tad on the really sweet side but nonetheless very very good. My wife also enjoyed the blueberry muffin. Prices were also very reasonable. I'll definitely return to sample more desserts.

Went to Rao's for a slice Key Lime pie. I had been craving for it for the past couple of days. Even though I don't like the decorative whipped topping that lacks flavor and taste, the pie is flavorful.They were out of sliced pie but had a whole one. Their rule is when they sell out of sliced pie for the day that's it. I was made aware of that rule by an employee of the bakery and the MOD on duty. My family wanted some other items so I ordered the and settled for the carrot cake that was not very good. I also ordered an extra hot vanilla latte that was prepared incorrectly at first, but was corrected after I brought it to their attention. Kayla made my coffee drink and did an awesome job.

We came here for the first time a couple days ago, the atmosphere was cute and cozy. It was honestly the best croissant I have ever had..... If we didn't have to do errands after our trip here we would've loved to grab a bunch of their bakery items and sweets

I love this place they have good coffee and breakfast. I get all my birthday cakes here as well. The bakery items are so delicious!

I Love Rao's. It has been a favorite for many years. They are great for any occasion. I highly recommend them.

Our favorite pie here is Key Lime. It is so delightful! You can order by the slice if you are 't sure. We like to take it to our friends for parties, etc. The Chocolate silk is wonderful too!! We recently got a Cinnamon Mini King Cake. It was very sweet!! Would I buy another one??! Heck yeah!Coffee is good! Love the house blend!

Just went into this place for the first time. Don't go here if on a diet. lol. They have the most delicious looking display of various breads and cakes. They have whole cakes and pies. But you can also get single servings which I think on cheat days if you can only buy one thing would be epic. Lol
