Ransom's Steakhouse

I came for the first time tonight and it was amazing! Just moved here and we were shocked at how low the ratings were around Montgomery for all the food/dinning. My kids school happened to be right across the street so I peeped the yelp reviews and was VERY excited to see how well it was rated. Came here and fell in love! From the amazing and welcoming staff to the live music, to the delicious Ribeye (AND APPLE BUTTER + HOMEMADE BREAD) was just perfect. We'll definitely be back and we are happy to end our search for a local goldmine. Thanks for being amazing Ransoms!

They have sweet potatoes. I love the mayhall Salmon. Burgers and chicken fried steak is really good. Not thrilled with shrimp rattlers over cooked on crust

Steak is incredible, the shrimp is salty ocean fresh which amazing find thus far north of the coast.

Gave this place another try... haven't been here since I moved to the area because well, it was crappy.... Anyway, I heard they've been making changes, improving so we gave it a go. I will say it was one of the better meals I've had there. I had the scorpion tails appetizer and the wedge salad. The scorpion tails were pretty good and 4 was plenty to fill me up considering the large size. They were crispy and didn't fall apart when dipped into the sauce. The salad had crisp lettuce and plenty of bacon, onionsand tomatoes. The service was ok and overall a decent meal, definitely better that previous visits. We were looking forward to our first time at Ransom's Steakhouse all week to celebrate Dad's 85th birthday. All dolled up, we arrived Saturday evening (a bit overdressed for the establishment, perhaps) in full anticipation of a delicious steak dinner (and more). What we got, left much to be desired. A cold and tough steak; a grayed-out, chewy cube steak meant to pass as chicken fried steak with cold gravy; overcooked salmon; cold fries; cold mashed potatoes; a lack of overall seasoning on every dish (perhaps salt was only allowed on the dining table and not in the kitchen); and a bowl of cold, tasteless green beans. The best part of the evening was the $3.50 Ziegenbock and the passable mac 'n cheese (which likely would have been much better warm - do you see a theme here?). Needless to say, unless it's happy hour, we'll be driving right by Ransom's in search of a hot meal; there's a Taco Bell not that far that would have topped this dining experience.

I met a friend for lunch here the other day. I had a lunch portion chicken fried steak, and it was pretty tasty. The service was good, the prices were reasonable, and the place was clean. All in all, everything you could ask for!

The food here is good and I wish I could give a good review of my experience. Two things about this place that are pathetic and need to change.1. My daughter, who is older than the "kids menu" age but eats very little, wanted to order of the kids menu only to be told that she would have to pay $5 extra. She would still get the kids menu portion though. This is ridiculous! Give anyone that wants to eat off the kids menu the kids menu. It's a smaller portion for adults that do not eat much.2. If you want to order a side salad as one of your sides, you have to pay full price. In other words, not like most places where you can sub a side with a salad for a 1.00 or so extra, not here. You have to get your two sides and pay the full $3.99 for a side salad.We stopped going to this place because of this backwoods way of thinking. Thought we would give it another chance and lo and behold, still lacking in common sense and customer service.Guess we will go to Phil's Roadhouse more often and give them the business. They know how to treat their clients!

I've e eaten at Ransom's a couple of times and it's always been good.I thought today that the Ransom's steak sandwich was very good!Great bun to start out with, then the funky shaved steak cooked to perfection and a side of Ajus for dipping. The fried onion on top with a side of steak fries is all you need and more for lunch.The service was great and you get that Texas vibe with the decor.Montgomery is a growing place, I hope that Ransom's stays just the way they are. Awesome sirloin steak and a really nice Bloody Mary ! Good amount on side dishes and one of the friendliest staff I have seen a very long time ... worth a trip to visit and go early as secret has gotten out!Honest people as I forgot my purse and they kept it safe until I returned !!!
