"This was our first visit. Wow! Go on Friday when everyone gets free cake. Who knew?!? We've been encouraged to try this Oyster Bar and Seafood Restaurant. We were a party of three and made a reservation earlier in the day. Seated on time and our server Jenn was super friendly! The oysters from Chesapeake were very good steamed. We finished off a half peck in short order ($25). We had 3 different entrees: fried flounder, lobster roll, and house salad with seared tuna. Other than disappointing mac and cheese and nothing special fried okra, we enjoyed our meal and excellent service. The environment is casual and welcoming. We enjoyed red velvet, pineapple and carrot cake later in the evening after taking our complimentary desserts home. Carrot cake got the blue ribbon. I highly encourage anyone in the Goldsboro area who enjoys seafood to stop in. There are some land lubber items on the menu."
"You can sit at the long counter stool and watch them work. We arrived for a late breakfast and it appears most folks were eating lunch and it all looked terrific. We opted for biscuit and gravy and they were out of the sawmill gravy so we got brown instead which threw off our intentions that morning but it was still good. I'm looking forward to going back and having a burger. The place was buzzin and very busy yet our server was sweet as the tea we were drinking. I would make this a regular weekly visit if I lived just a touch closer."

Visit Restaurant Page"I had dinner here with a group of friends, last week. Service was excellent. Food was excellent. They serve Southern dishes that have been elevated to the stratosphere. There is a full bar and decent wine list. Prices are very low for the quality.I had a glass of Pinot grigio with the catfish dinner. There a large piece of fish on a bed of warm chickpea salad, 2 ways of okra (pickled and buttered, which I never had heard or thought of but was delicious) and square of baked cornbread. I had a piece of warm chocolate pecan pie with fresh whipped cream for dessert. Every bite was absolutely delicious. At the beginning of our service, our server made sure we knew that there is an automatic 20% fair wage service charge that is shared with the entire staff. If we chose to add to that, it would go directly to her.Parking is a little tricky. There are 3 or 4 accessible parking spaces in a tiny lot by the front door and there is street parking. Or you can park in the parking lot of the shopping center behind them and walk up a set of steps to the tiny parking lot."
"Visiting from out of town, got food to go so that we could have some leftovers for home. Delicious food, and awesome friendly service. We will return when we are in town again."
"Wife and I made our first visit here this past weekend.01/14/22We did not have a reservation but we were able to be seated immediately at a bar height table in the bar area, which was fine for us.Our waitress, Theresa, was very helpful and attentive. Our food come out quickly. I had the BBQ Pork Chop which was cooked perfectly to order and was so juicy and tender. Very good.Wife had a burger that she said was wonderful.Appetizer was potato skins which were good. Drinks were well made also. We ordered a Chocolate Confusion dessert to go. We had it later on and it was fantastic and not too rich. Thanks to Theresa and the rest of the staff for making our first visit a great experience."
"We had heard good things about whiskey kitchen from locals and decided to check it out while we were in town. They have a large outdoor seating area and inside they have great seating including bar seating. For entrées we started with the boiled peanuts, which we really enjoyed and thought that the pickled pepper was a nice addition to it. I had the fried chicken sandwich with potato salad. Chicken was nice and crunchy love the soft bun that was on And even loved thebutter pickles. The potato salad was a perfect ball of rustic and traditional, but with a few little surprises. Very much what I was expecting and wanting. My husband opted for the barbecue pulled pork sandwich with the collard greens. The pork had really good flavor to it. He enjoyed the sauce, but could use a little more pork as there was still a good amount of bread when he got down to the end of his sandwich. We were told that Tuesday Thursday and Saturday were the best days to come because the collard greens were made by I believe her name is Miss. Mary. The greens had a sweet and spicy kick to them but we enjoyed them. They have multiple different whiskeys and bourbons on tap. I chose to stick with something. I knew the Jeffersons ocean voyage which came out to be around $17. My husband opted for the Penelope artifact which was around $14. One thing I would encourage others to consider is the prices of the pores are reflective of the fact that all of the liquor is state run. So you see that reflected in many of the prices Because bottles are so scarce"
"Very impressed with the waffles here! I'm usually a pancake person, but the waffles were delicious! The chicken was good. Got thighs, wings, waffle, and chicken pot pie. Chicken pot pie was very flavorful and didn't feel heavy at all! Luckily we beat the rush and didn't have to wait for a table. They have stool seating. Awesome customer service!"
"Mateo Bar de Tapas is a very good tapas restaurant and one of the best, if not the best, tapas restaurants in the Triangle.Mateo opened in August 2012 and is from the same folks behind Mothers & Sons Trattoria next door (opened June 2016). Both restaurants provide a fun, "elevated casual" night out in Durham. If I had to pick between the two, I'd go with Mateo.Mateo doesn't have dedicated parking. For this visit, we parked behind the restaurant in one of our go-to lots: 111 W Chapel Hill St. At the time, parking in this lot cost $2.25 per hour, Monday-Friday, 8am-7pm. We visited Mateo after 7, so our parking was free. This restaurant is popular. You should book reservations well in advance. Mateo is on OpenTable and awards dining points, which is a plus since not all OpenTable restaurants do.We had a 7:30pm reservation for four on a Thursday. When we showed up, the place was packed. The restaurant has a nice design, floor to ceiling, with two levels of indoor dining. There's no outdoor seating. Mateo has a long bar with distinct, giant Edison pendant lighting. The atmosphere was loud (but not too loud) and lively at the beginning of our meal. By the time we left, around 9:45pm, the place had emptied out and was more mellow.Food-wise, there were well over 20 selections of tapas (both regular menu items plus specials) and other Spanish cuisine like jamon (dry-cured ham), paella, and whole fish a la plancha (pan grilled). Drink-wise, they had cocktails, beer, cider, wine, and vermouth. Below is a list of what we ordered. It should give you a good idea of what the menu has to offer and pricing.Cocteles* Rhubarb Revival ($15) - Reposado tequila, rhubarb, Montenegro, lemon, Crude fig and orange bitters* Pepino x2 ($16 each) - Conniption dry gin, Alley Twenty Six tonic syrup, cucumber, salineSangria* Cheerwine Sangria x2 ($12 each) - red wine, seasonal fruit, brandy, CheerwineTapas* Datiles ($10) - goat cheese stuffed dates, crispy serrano ham, romesco* Queso Frito ($13) - fried farm egg and manchego, romesco, lion's mane mushrooms* Patatas Bravas ($10) - crispy potatoes, brava sauce, aioli espuma* Boquerones ($12) - Spanish anchovies, vinagreta, avocado puree, potato chips* Remolacha ($14) - beet goat cheese mousse, spring onion, citrus roasted beets, benne brittle* Bok Choy ($13) - chili crisp, fried garlic puree, pork belly furikake* Almejas ($16) - NC littleneck clams, shallots, garlic, guajillo chilis, jamon, boiled peanuts* Pulpo a la Plancha ($16) - octopus, romesco verde, new potatoes, black garlic aioli, spring vegetables* Marrow ($18) - roasted bone marrow, short rib marmalade, radish, pickled mushrooms, toasted baguette* Panceta de Cerdo ($16) - ginger tamari glazed pork belly, cauliflower puree, mustard greens, crispy garlic and shallot, fried cauliflowerEspeciales* Calabaza a la Plancha ($14) - Lyon's Farm zucchini and summer squash, stewed tomatoes, garlic bread crumbsDulces* Banana Pudding ($9) - pecan wafers, PX cream, toasted meringue* Basque Cheesecake ($10) - peach compote, Graham cracker streusel, peaches and cream cloudThe cocktails were tasty and creative. My wife absolutely loved the Pepino. It was refreshing, balanced, almost savory, and not sweet. My friend and I enjoyed our Cheerwine Sangrias. I recommend it for a unique, local twist. When it came to the food, we found the dishes to be equally satisfying, fresh, and delicious. The presentation was beautiful all around as well. The Datiles was a solid variation of stuffed dates. I liked the Queso Frito more than my wife, who thought it was just alright. She and my friend loved the Patatas Bravas. The outside was crispy, the inside was piping hot and tender, and the aioli enhanced everything. I really liked the Boquerones. It was one of my favorite dishes. It was like elevated salt and vinegar chips, with anchovies. The portions were too small, though. The Remolacha was yummy and the plating made it look like a work of art. Both the Bok Choy and the special Calabaza a la Plancha served as good side vegetables. They were light and cut through the heaviness of the other dishes. We couldn't get enough of the Almejas broth and ordered more bread to eat with it (no charge). Not enough bread came with it to begin with. The Pulpo a la Plancha was well made and well presented. I also recommend the Marrow. There was a generous portion of marrow. It was rich and gratifying -- exactly what you want out of a bone marrow dish. The Panceta de Cerdo was fantastic. The pork and cauliflower balanced each other out. The cauliflower puree was so good that our other friend asked if they could bring us a bowl of just that (they couldn't).Save room for dessert because the two we got - the Banana Pudding and the Basque Cheesecake - were both outstanding. The "PX cream" in the Banana Pudding refers to Pedro Ximenez Spanish dessert sherry. Both of the desserts were creamy and delectable.Service was A+. Kayl rocked."
"My mom and I visited this cafe for Sunday brunch and really enjoyed it. You order at the counter then find a place to sit inside or outside. I recommend outside for the view of the lake. It was the NC Peach French Toast with a Trophy Cloud Surfer for me and the Farmhouse Benedict with a cup of cheese grits and a Fullsteam Paycheck Pilsner for my mom. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. This spot is a must visit in Wendell."
"During the Pandemic time, something tried and true is what we crave. An old school eastern NC barbecue house with most of the dishes you expect. I had fried oysters and barbecued pork. Both were very good and the cole slaw although finely chopped was not so full of mustard. Kinston has quite alot to choose from and King's is still a good value."
"We walked around downtown trying to find something to eat before a concert and we just randomly stopped in cause we were really hungry. You can eat at the bar area or a nice, huge dining room. Scott was our waiter and he was full of life. I ordered a rare salmon filet and a small house salad. The salmon was absolutely delicious. I mean like over the top delicious. My salad was great for $5.00. My friend had the salmon meal with amazing Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. The Brussels were some of the best I have had. I really enjoyed this meal!"
"Great food, have a buffet or you can get a plate to go. The staff is very friendly and keep your drinks full."

Came in for a late lunch. Friendly, quick service and fresh oysters. What more could you ask for? I started with some raw oysters on the half shell because how do you come to an oyster bar and not have oysters? Don't be silly. And then of course to continue with my oyster obsession, I got some fried oysters with fried okra. All good and all fresh. Nice lunch spot!

Power was out at home thanks to rolling blackouts, so needed a place for a hot meal on a cold Christmas Eve morning. I'd been following them on Facebook, and saw that they were open. I drove down, seeing that not much else was going on in downtown Reidsville, but a few cars outside the cafe. When I walked in, I was greeted immediately and informed that a booth had a wait, or I could opt for the counter, which I chose. I was presented with a menu and ordered a hot cocoa to sip on. I decided on the Carolina Sampler, as it was my first visit, I was hungry, and I didn't know when the power would be back on at home.Breaking it down by item..the scrambled eggs were the softest I've probably ever had cooked on a flattop, the bacon was crispy, the way I like it, the sausage patty was decent, but not otherworldly, the ham was a bit on the salty side, but better than too sweet. The hashbrowns were good, but I forgot to order extra crispy (been a while since I was out for breakfast). The grits, sawmill gravy, apples, and biscuits were all very good in flavor and texture, and the hot cocoa was rich without being too sweet. Definitely have to get the gf down here some time.

Had a really stand out brunch here when I was in Durham visiting a friend! Incredibly nice folks running this joint, cute space, and the food was just dynamite. We had the duck gumbo which was a daily special and man, it was great. Gumbo is one of those dishes that feels easy but is in fact often done poorly, but not here -- all flavor and spice, topped off with a fall of the bone duck leg! Dream pairing. We also had the shrimp and grits which was similarly stand out, with its nice fluffy grits (no watery mess here). Would absolutely come back next time I'm in town -- and try some of those donuts and pancakes and what have you

Ordered takeout on our way to a baseball tournament and ended up staying to eat in because everyone working was so friendly and kind. The chicken was piping hot, their homemade hot sauce was killer, bbq sauce was sweet and smoky and a great companion to our pork sandwiches (with a yellow slaw). The tea stayed refilled and we couldn't have had a better experience. Definitely stop in for some classic eastern Carolina bbq and stay for the friendly smiles and warm greetings.

We were in town for Dreamville and wanted to grab lunch before we headed to a day party and Whiskey Kitchen was in walking distance from our hotel. We promptly greeted and seated and our server was at our table swiftly to welcome us and to offer us water as we looked over the menu.We opted for a couple of their Daily Lunch Specials and couldn't pass up trying the cracklin' biscuits since it was something we've never heard of or eaten. My BFF who literally hasn't eaten pork in yeeeaaarrrrssss couldn't pass up trying them when they hit the table because they look absolutely irresistible and the taste ... 10 out of 10! I would come back to Raleigh just for those biscuits! I had the steak sandwich for my entree which was flank steak with chimichurri on a toasted freshly baked roll and a side of collards ... both were AMAZINGLY flavorful and hit the spot on everything you'd want in a sandwich. I also tried some of my friend's potato salad and it was slamming as well! We cannot say one single negative thing about Whiskey Kitchen and recommend it should you be in Downtown Raleigh.

Mateo is a cool, fun tapas bar in downtown Durham. If you get lucky, you may be able to snag a parking spot on the street or in the lot next to the restaurant. If not, there's a parking deck close by. A group of 6 of us came in for dinner right when they opened at 5 on a Thursday evening. I'm not sure you'd want to bring a group much larger than this here as it's a little small for large groups. It's cool inside, though, and the bar is spacious! The service is outstanding! Our waitress and everyone that brought our food out was awesome. Our waitress explained the dining concept to us and they really drive home the family style idea, to the point where splitting the check multiple ways isn't easy or favored. Totally understandable. She also made great recommendations! For drinks, we started with a Oaxacan Manhattan, Tiki Espana, Garden Party, and a couple Mocktails. Their cocktail menu is nice and they were all delicious! The mocktail drinkers didn't love their choices but personal preference. I also appreciated their beer and wine options. Food: we ordered enough for a small army I think! Patatas Bravas, Chicken Croqueta, Pato y Arroz, Calamares, Mata, Remolacha, Datiles, Huevo Diablo, Ensalada, Gambas Al Ajillo, Panceta de Cerdo, and Albondigas. All were beautifully plated and delicious! Extremely unique flavors and dishes. My favorites were the Patatas Bravas, Mata, and the Chicken Croquetas. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed our experience. There is a tapas bar 30 minutes over in Raleigh that I have to admit I prefer, but they are definitely different despite offering similar concepts and dishes. This is a great runner-up, though! Highly recommend!
Visit Restaurant Page"CASH ONLY. Letting non-local diners know since I don't carry an ATM card myself and luckily the Hubs had the cash or I would have ended up washing dishes! Lol. This is a good old-fashioned diner with many local patrons serving up Southern hospitality at its finest. I ordered the 2 egg breakfast with sausage patty, grits (of course) and biscuits. This was my first time I ever tried red eye gravy. Think of it as a savory salty unami flavor similar to coconut amino acids. A light sprinkling of it on grits was perfect. We had not just one fluffy biscuit but two per order! Enough to take home and it still tastes great the next morning. Plus, we tried the fatbacks which are similar to pork rinds. Yum! Our sweet server Tanya poured out the Southern hospitality like molasses over hot cakes! We never had an empty cup of coffee during our breakfast here. We felt so welcome here in Raleigh and here at Pam's. Definitely ask for Tanya if you're visiting here.Parking in the lot."
"What a great pit stop on the way home from the beach. Friendly service Food was comforting and delicious It felt very nostalgic, the diners I ate at when I was young. Lots of locals and families!! Wish I could have tried the lunch menu too. It looked yummy. Prices were not bad at all."
"My mom is visiting and wanted fish so she found this restaurant on Google. And boy was it a good choice. First, we called our order in and the woman who answered the phone had some of the best customer service I've ever experienced. She was patient as we asked a number of questions and explained the menu. We ordered a fish dinner with green beans, cole slaw and an extra corn on the cob (hold the bacon) and a fish and shrimp dinner with green beans and fried okra. Honestly the portion size was large, food was hot and delicious!! I have found a new spot in Goldsboro for fish!!!My only reason for not giving the final star was the number of workers who did not have their masks covering their noses and lack of gloves as the waitress checked orders. COVID has made me more conscious of this and expect more from businesses!"
"Quick tip: call in your order during popular lunch or dinner times especially since there's not much parking or room to wait inside. Jack's has always been one of my Raleigh favorites. I love so many of their menu items and honestly have never had a bad meal. They have many a couple of changes like there's an increase in cost when you pay with card instead of cash and they charge for refills. With the increase in supplies and food cost I'm not surprised by these changes. When it comes to real soul food Jacks will always be my go to. Their sides are flavorful and they don't use pork to season them."
"When we got there around 1pm the line was to the door. As soon as we lined up an employee approached us and offered free beer! That was nice! A drink while waiting in line for food. Today I got the loaded baked potato with brisket! They also gave me a few sample slices of the brisket, delicious! We got a pint of Mac n cheese for the kids to share. The cheese gets into the pasta shells. My kids ate it up! The service was fast and they were friendly. Lots of seating indoors and outdoors. There is also a nice outdoor area for the kids to play in. Some of the best bbq I've had! I was sad they ran out of the Saturday special Lechon. Got to get there early because they do run out of things."
"CJ's Olde Towne holds a special place in my heart. Located in the heart of Asheboro, near the hospital and the well known restaurant, The Table. It is the opposite of The Table however. It is not modern, nor does it host innovative dishes, but what it does have is an old timey feel with a large menu of comforting dishes. Everyone seems like a regular. Their pancakes at breakfast time are the biggest I've seen locally, and their specials menu always hosts a plethora of cozy dishes (my favorite being the honey mustard chicken). When my grandparents were alive and my grandmother worked at the nearby hospital, we would meet them when I was a child so being able to visit with my children now gives me warm, nostalgic feelings. I got to tell my girls that this is where we would meet their great grandparents when "mommy was a little girl." So while CJ's may not be for everyone, it makes me happy being able to visit and have a taste of my childhood."
"Unbelievable that this has one review. 100 yards from Franklin Street but worlds away. A historic meat and three type of spot. We got the fried chicken, a side of culture, friendliness unmatched, ice tea, Carolina blue surroundings and unbelievable hush puppies. All for 7 bucks, incl tax! Id say 95% of Chapel Hill doesn't know this place exists.. But they should. Go here instead of Mama Dips if you really want the southern experience. Go go go. Cash only, decent parking, friendly service and awesome food!"
"5/6/23: First time here. It was packed with people graduating, which was awesome to see. We waited quite awhile for a table, but we finally got one. I looked over the menu and decided to keep it simple by ordering pancakes and bacon. My friend had grits, eggs, biscuits, and a spicy sausage patty. He loved his food because he eats anything and was starving. My pancakes had a weird taste to them and the bacon was cold and soggy. I wasn't very impressed. We went to the register to pay and saw the sign that if paying with card, we would be charged a surcharge. Would've been nice to know that ahead of time, but anywho. I may go back to try something else. I definitely didn't enjoy my breakfast. Parking is crazy too. Be aware."
"Looked for lunch on the way down I-95 headed to Florida. A buffet connected to a budget hotel. Recipe for disaster? Nope. Thanks to previous yelpers we drove right up. Excellent food. Fried chicken, meatloaf, yams, mashed potatoes, southern veg, salad, pies.... all really spot on. The biscuits are light as a feather. Even the bbq was tasty for restaurant fare. Look out for the fatback, it is addictive. The buttermilk pie was new to me and really delish. This place is not just "good for road food." It is delish. Thank you, local yelpers!"
"This was a favorite dining spot of mine as a student at UNC-CH in the early 90s so we decided to visit and check out the menu 30+ years later. One of the great things is that the restaurant still looks the same as it did then, like a comfy grandmother's kitchen. and The menu hasn't changed much, either. I mean, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", right? The service was pretty quick and our waiter was a very nice young man. The food was still tasty with good size portions as well. If you are in the area and want a soul food meal, give them a try!"
"I like Danny's for a quick BBQ lunch option. On this visit I ordered the small sausage plate with house potato salad (sour cream based), green beans and applesauce. All plates come in a small or large size with two sides and a piece of texas toast. The sausage was so juicy and tender and the sides were good."
"Iyla's Southern Kitchen was stop number 3 of my food tour and my favorite spot we visited. We were given bbq sundae with a mac n cheese base topped with bbq, sauce and pickles. The bbq was moist and tasty and I liked the sauce that was tomato based and not vinegar. Even though I enjoyed the dish I would have preferred it separate than all piled together. Iyla's is on my list to return and I am intrigued by the other menu items."
"OK location on the corner. Free parking caddy-corner across the intersection on the weekend. Minimalist atmosphere. You order on your phone , so what little interaction you have with the staff they are friendly. More space outside than in. An indoor and outdoor bar with some TVs. But what gets them the 5 stars is the food and the sauces. The whole hog pulled pork tastes good without any sauce on it. The true test of a BBQ place. Too bad they don't have a 2 meat option or I would have tried the brisket too. Well, along with the tasty pulled pork, all the sauces tasted good too. And I've never said that. Usually a couple or one tastes good but all hit the mark here. You'll have to try them to judge. They also don't get the 5 stars unless the sides are really good too. Very flavorful collards. The roasted and fried sweet potatoes tasted good too with the candied pepitas and agave.I will be back."
"In town & back @ Harvey's. It appears renovations were done on the counter & grill area since our last visit. Establishment is still small & still providing OUTSTANDING down home country/southern cuisine! Trust, the country sausage is to die for! Next time, I'll inquire about purchasing my own stash (seriously).Customer service from the female employee (w/the green shirt) was top notch!!! The female servicing the counter actually failed to acknowledge I even spoke when entering the restaurant, smh. Back to our top notch server. She was attentive, accommodating, friendly & professional!Another trip to the area closed out w/a great meal @ Harvey's! Thanks!!!"
"This place is amazing! Inexpensive and great good as well as service! A must for mount olive."
"In the market for some old fashion southern cooking? You know that "hole" in the wall joint that serves fried whatever - hot and ready? Welp, if you stumble upon this find - that's what you in for! This restaurant was recommended to me by a local. When I heard they had the best Fried Catfish around, well I had to go and see what all the fuss was about. I did a quick google search - their website provides a PDF menu for you to download and order from. I did a call in order for: - Kid's Catfish Meal with Fries and Drink - Daily Special: Homemade Cheeseburger with Fries and Drink- Side Order of: Eggs Rolls- Side Order of: Okra Note, ask for condiments! If not, you will get nothing. So, keep that in mind (if you need tarter sauce or ketchup). After making my order, it took me about 10 mins to get to the location for pick up. There is a sign on the door that only 6 people can be in the building at a time. To my surprise, there was only a cashier and the cook (that I would later learn is also the owner). The customers had on masks, they offered liquid hand sanitation for guest. But the cashier nor the cook had on a mask. I leave that to be a pro or con for you. Everyone was pleasant. Note, if you pay with a card there is a service charge they don't tell you about. It's small, but still it's one of those things that should be announced before swiping someone's card. The overall building looked like any older diner. Nothing special, it appeared clean and smelled of cooked food. Now for the food review - this was the best Catfish I have had in YEARS. The Catfish was fresh, meaty, and fried perfectly. The seasoning was on point and didn't need anything additional. Tartar sauce is an added bonus or hot sauce - as the fish can stand on its own! The fried okra, MAN extra crunch, again fresh and seasoned perfectly. Normally, I like to have ketchup with mine - nope not with these. The egg rolls, were good. They aren't something I would write home about - but for something different on a fish and chicken menu - they were good. The Cheeseburger - look if you want homemade and tasty - welp here you are! The meat was tender and seasoning great. The burger was about the size of my hand, so yeah you will be full with just the single patty. The automatic toppings are cheese, mayo, tomatoes, and lettuce. If that's not your speed - let them know when ordering. We were very satisfied with this place - great recommendation!"
"First....an immaculate diner style restaurant. Second....quick and friendly service. Third, Fourth and Fifth......fantastic food! That is how I arrived at a 5-star review for this out of the way restaurant. My food was cooked to perfection and served straight from the kitchen. Annabella's has an open kitchen and you can see the entire process. I highly recommend a visit. I will be back."
"Harturas is in same shopping strip as Big Lots and took over an old Pizza Hut. It's on same side as Dairy Queen. They serve breakfast all day and lunch type foods with some Cuban type dishes. My veggie omelette was good with home fries and love that you can customize to your liking. Service was spot on. Be aware that only one bathroom for single so if someone is in you are out of luck."
"Good menu options and great service! We had my friend's surprise birthday dinner here and one of their private spaces. My friend's husband made the arrangements, but I arrived early to help decorate the space. The staff and manager were extremely helpful and friendly. They helped me bring in the decor and get everything set up. The location is nice and has a great vibe for an intimate dinner or a group dinner. The parking lot has plenty of parking in their private lot. The menu options are great! I ordered the Grain Salad with a Crab Cake and it was DELICIOUS!!! I wouldn't not have even imagined that putting all of the different flavors together would end up complimenting each other so well. I am allergic to pecans and there wasn't a single one on there once I asked for them to be withheld from the dish. Everyone in the group truly enjoyed their meal. I tasted some of the Brussels Sprouts that my other friend ordered and it was good. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area."
"This depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for standard, cheap breakfast then this is your spot. This is no-frills, cheap country cooking. Two eggs, hashbrown/grits, meat choice, and toast/biscuit is $3.19. Throw in a coffee and you're looking at roughly $4.50 total. You order at a counter, take a number, and they bring it to you on a sturdy paper plate. No silverware, just plastic stuff here. Again, no-frills. But if that's your goal, a cheap meal, then it suits the bill. Can't speak for lunch taste, but at $4.49 for a meat and access to the vegetable bar it seems like a steal too. This place is old, definitely a little beat up (they could use some new chairs) but its a good quick meal if you need it. Put it this way...I had the same meal here as I did Time Out and it was 1/3 the price."
"My mom treated me to dinner on Tuesday, 04-29-24. She'd highly recommended V's. I'd planned to get the veggie plate but she recommended either the ribs or the oxtail. I went with the ribs; they came with two sides. I chose the mac and cheese and the sweet potatoes. The entrée also came with cornbread. We also had a side of the cabbage/collard green mix. It was very good. The staff was pleasant. They had a good selection of music playing during our short wait. I forgot to take pictures of my food. Should my mom decide to bring me back, I'll have a tough time deciding on the veggie plate and the oxtail."
"My fave buffet spot in town. I had the opportunity to go yesterday. Oh man I've missed this place. I started with a salad. The red onions were pungent as they should be. So good. Then I went for my veggie plate and my meat plate. The cabbage and the turnips so yummy!!!! I wish they had some fresh fried chicken. The popcorn shrimp and chopped bbq was good. I go to buffets for the smorgasbord of veggies and nothings different with Fuller's. The corn of the cob was so sweet. Can't wait to go back. The butter beans. Everything."
"Heavens to Betsy! Bitten by the food love bug once again. Looking to enjoy a meal where every day salt of the earth people eat? Welcome to Kinlaw's y'all! Here you'll find every bit as an authentic southern dining experience as you'll find anywhere in the country. Kinlaw's Welcome Grill is a cafeteria style eatery located behind the actual market. Nothing fancy, just insanely good homestyle southern favorites at an even more insanely low price. Meat, 2 sides, hush puppies, and a drink for $7 even. I don't play with my fried chicken....and this is easily one of the best I've had. Crispy, juicy, flavorful. The mashed potatoes? Hands down the absolute best. Kinlaw's welcome grill is everything I love about southern food. It brings people of all walks of life together in a friendly atmosphere, around a table filled with the most satisfying cuisine known to man."
