I was a bit overwhelmed because there were so many choices! I got the shrimp spring roll which was tasty and hot! Came with a good dipping sauce almost like ketchup and sriracha. Then I also ordered the pork soup dumplings. They came out hot and fresh as well. Very good flavor but the inside was a little too soft for my liking but that didn't stop me from eating them!We ordered wings that was a good serving for the price. They were big and crispy with a lot of flavor. You get a sauce on the side. Last up was the shredded beef with pepper noodles. You can get that with our without soup. Pretty big serving. Haven't tasted it because I was too full. The bobos are separate and everyone looked good. So many varieties of flavors too. Cannot wait to go back!"

I was so pleasantly surprised by how fast the food came out and how tasty it was. My husband and I both ordered a signature rice noodle soup where you select the type of broth and protein you want. I had the Golden broth and my husband went for the Szechuan. He loves spicy so it was perfect for him. We both got fatty beef for protein. The broth comes with everything on the side for you to add in. The first thing you add is the little quail egg and your protein. Then all of the veggies and your noodles. By the time you finish adding everything in your broth will settle to the perfect eating temperature. I was skeptical about the egg, thinking it would be hard by the time I ate it, but it was still decently runny inside. The portion is large and I was very full by the end. If you're looking for hot pot vibes but don't want to invest the time or money, this is such a great alternative! I am so happy to have this near us!"

Clifford C. "I saw so many great reviews for this place, and hopefully I will re-try this once covid is over. i placed an order at the walk up window one afternoon when it wasn't overly busy. Based on the menu, I ordered a teriyaki chicken with extra veggies over 1/2 scoop of rice, with the sauces on the side.Nonetheless, the food was BATHING in the sauces, and was overly salty. I did appreciate the extra veggies in it, as they added a good amount of broccoli, however the amount of onions that were included (that i didn't see until i started digging through all of the sauce) was immense! Unfortunately for me, the experience was not very good, as there was way too many onions, bathing in sauce and was way too salty. It is definitely a good 'quick food' place, if you are into that. Prices were not that bad for the amount of food that you are getting, however, following directions from the customer was definitely not their forte."

Over the past 9-years of living in the area, I've searched near and far for quality Thai food but always fell short. Don't get me wrong, most are good but always fell into the "fusion" category. Twisted Noodles is straight up Thai food! From the flavors to the portions, everything was about quality.I stopped in for a late dinner and the moment I walked in, I was hit by the smell of a good ole' Thai cooking! I knew I was in for a treat. It was a beautiful night so I decided to grab a seat outside. I can tell that they were busy with folks dining in and especially take-out. People were coming in non-stop. It took a bit of time to get my menu but I understood the struggles of owning a restaurant with good food. The menu featured all of the legit Thai dishes you could think of. I was so surprised to see my favorite on there -- Rad Na! It's basically noodles topped with a gravy like sauce. This is rare to find in the area. It was amazing! The sauce was very balanced with sweetness, tartness, and saltiness. I also ordered the chicken green curry which was on point too. The portion was big enough for 2-3 people to share. When I placed my order, I ordered Sesame Chicken for my mom and the Orange vegetarian option (bean-curd maybe?) for myself. Apparently, the worker who took my order assumed I only wanted to order vegetarian, and just made me the Sesame vegetarian option. Thankfully, I checked my bag before leaving and realized I was missing a dish, and the dish I had was not the one I ordered. I bought a Sesame Chicken and was told that orange veg is the same as Sesame veg, only it has sesame seeds on it... riiiight. I had just finished unloading my 26 foot UHAUL after driving for two days straight. I was starving and did not care what she gave me as long as my dish was vegetarian. My Sesame Veg was really, really good! They did not skimp out on the protein! I think there were only like three peices of actual vegetable in the dish, but they were at the bottom of the bowl, soaking in the sauce and so good. Mom says her sesame chicken was just as delicious! If I am ever back in this area (we were dropping off the UHAUL), I will be back! Maybe I'll see if the orange veg actually tastes like Sesame veg... Formerly Orient Garden many years ago, this was the spot we would come for some Americanized Chinese food, mainly their sesame chicken. Today, Szechuan Garden is a spot where I will have my weekly fried rice Friday, or even share a traditional Chinese meal with my family.I can honestly say that everything I've eaten from Szechuan Garden has been delicious. A family favorite is their squirrel fish, a fried fish that is covered in sweet and sour sauce. Their sauce is the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. They serve traditional vegetables and we love their noodles, particularly their chow fun. They have options that get as traditional as it can get, and we love that! Now, the fried rice that has won over my heart is their young chow fried rice. This is a fried rice with not a lot of vegetables, and a ton of different meats. It has egg, shrimp, chicken and beef! The fried rice is over seasoned and oily, but both in a good way. They make it the kind of way that overloads your taste buds with all sorts of delicious spice and flavor. It's easily one of the best fried rice dishes in the area, no contest. I've also had a bunch of their appetizers on these occasions, their homemade dumplings, their chicken wings and their Szechuan noodles. All of their appetizers pass the test as well! It all tastes fresh, has good flavor and fairly affordable. I can see Szechuan Garden being my go-to Chinese restaurant for the foreseeable future. I was given 1 pre-measured soy sauce cup that was about a 1/4 of the way full for all of these items. I get home and open my yaki soba. Oh my. The container is overflowing with greasy soy sauced noodles with no flavor. The only veggie in sight is matchstick onion and carrots. They slice their scallops into 1/3's or 1/4's to keep their prices down per plate - I received 2 small pieces of scallop. 3 shrimp. And a ton of disgusting imitation crab pieces. Daniel B. "We liked Noodle 501 OK. I give it 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.This is a casual Asian noodle restaurant located on 15-501 just off I-40 exit 270. Most of the noodles served here are Thai and our main server was Thai. This place isn't super "authentic," but it's decent for what it is, especially in this part of Durham. Expect about the same or maybe a step above the noodles served at a typical Triangle Thai restaurant. The noodle selection is better here. This restaurant opened on June 4, 2022: https://bit.ly/43ZvET4. It replaced the Firehouse Subs next door to the Starbucks in the Indigo Corners shopping center: https://bit.ly/436mLWs. The space has been renovated. It's got sort of an industrial, modern, street-food feel to it with corrugated and diamond-tread metal siding, exposed brick, murals, and pendant lighting.Noodle 501's noodles fall into three broad categories: (1) Stir-fried noodles or "dry" noodles, (2) curry noodles, and (3) noodle bowls, a.k.a. noodle soups. Most of the noodle soups are ramen with a chicken broth base. The stir-fried noodles, which are all Thai style (e.g., Pad Thai, Drunken Noodle) are among the more authentic items. During our visit, noodle entrees started at $14-17 each and proteins and extras cost anywhere from $1-6 each. The noodle bowls already include protein. Also, the restaurant serves more than just noodles. They offer an assortment of Asian apps and snacks, such as Fried Soft Shell Crab ($14) and Takoyaki (6 octopus balls for $9), and soups, like Thai Tom Yum (lemongrass) and Tom Kha (coconut) soup. On the menu, the Takoyaki caught my eye, but I was skeptical. That skepticism was confirmed when I saw a table near us order it. The Takoyaki didn't exactly look like the kind you'd get at a proper Japanese restaurant. It looked rough around the edges, including the bonito flakes on top. Not that it was bad. I just prefer higher quality. Desserts included Crispy Roti with or without ice cream ($4/5) and Mango Sticky Rice (seasonal, $7).Here's what my wife and I ordered:Starters* Loaded Fried Tofu (8 pieces for $6) - fried tofu topped with peanuts, scallions, and sweet chili sauce* Rotee & Curry ($6) - Indian pancake served with yellow curry and cucumber salad sauceStir-Fried Noodle* Pad Woon Sen ($14) - bean thread noodles stir-fried with choice of protein (we chose chicken, +$1), yellow onions, scallions, carrots, and celeryNoodle Bowls* Yen Ta Fo ($17) - flat rice noodles with roasted pork, calamari, fish balls, fried tofu, and bok choy in a fermented soybean pink soup, topped with fried wontons* Thai Style Chicken Ramen ($16) - chicken drumstick, thigh, and bok choyDessert* Mango Sticky Rice ($7) - seasonalBeverages* Thai Tea ($4)The Loaded Fried Tofu was a fun little snack though I probably wouldn't order it again. I wanted to see what it was like. Not bad. The Rotee & Curry was good, as it often is at Southeast Asian restaurants. Our order came with one fresh, savory pancake and a small side of curry. The pancake had appetizing an texture and overall, the app was delicious. I recommend it.The Pad Woon Sen was good and satisfying. Also, the portion size was generous. We took leftovers home. Pad Woon Sen is comfort food in Thailand. When I ordered it, our server said she had just had some earlier in the day. When it comes to Thai food, a lot of people know about Pad Thai, but less know about Pad Woon Sen. The main difference is the type of noodle used -- glass noodles or cellophane noodles. It's described on the menu here as bean thread noodles, which is also accurate. The only thing that stood out to me about Noodle 501's Pad Woon Sen that could be better was the chicken. It was a bit tough and dry. When I saw Yen Ta Fo on the menu, I had to order it. This was one of my sister's favorite noodle soups to eat in Thailand when we used to make annual trips there growing up. Yen Ta Fo is easier to find in the States now, but it's still relatively rare. It's known for its distinct pink broth which comes from the fermented bean paste. Noodle 501's Yen Ta Fo was OK. Certainly not like the ones you can get in Thailand. It tasted "instant" and the roasted chashu pork was tough and tasted cheap. Like the tofu, I probably wouldn't order the Yen Ta Fo again.Something I would order again is the Thai Style Chicken Ramen. It was yummy, and I found it to be relatively light. It had tender, bone-in chicken, ramen noodles with nice consistency, and a decent broth. The bok choy was fresh as well.I would also order the Mango Sticky Rice and Thai Tea again. Noodle 501's Mango Sticky Rice was unique because the rice was Thai blue sticky rice made with butterfly pea flower, and it was topped with black sesame seeds. The mango was ripe and sweet. The Thai Tea wasn't anything out of the ordinary, just solid.Service was great. The staff was polite and very attentive, including our server Aey.TL;DR version - Noodle 501 is acceptable for casual noodles out."

At the time of writing this review, street parking is enforced Monday-Saturday, 8am-6pm. Lot and deck parking are enforced Monday-Saturday, 8am-8pm. Parking should be free otherwise. For this visit, I parked next to the Ackland Art Museum for free. The menu offered a decent variety of noodles (soups and "dry" noodles), rice plates, and other Chinese cuisine including plenty of Sichuan fare, apps, and cold dishes. If I come back, I'm interested in trying their Hainanese Chicken Over Rice ($13.99). Outside on the sidewalk, they were advertising Monday and Wednesday chef's specials. However, the items actually appeared on the regular menu, available seven days a week. Drinkwise, the menu had Asian drinks like Roasted Rice with Green Tea ($4.99), Lemon Yakult ($5.99), and Mango Pomelo Sago ($8.99). They were out of most of these drinks during our visit, though. Here's what my wife and I had:Appetizers* Beef Filet with Tripe in Szechuan Sauce ($7.99)* Salt and Pepper Pork Ribs ($6.99)* Pickled Cucumber ($5.99)Noodles* Braised Beef Noodle Soup ($14.99)* Crispy Minced Beef Noodle ($14.99)Both noodle bowls were very good. We preferred the Crispy Minced Beef Noodle - a "dry" noodle bowl with no soup/broth - over the Braised Beef Noodle Soup. If you're craving Chinese noodle soup, the Braised Beef Noodle Soup is certainly worth ordering. What shined in these bowls were the noodles themselves. They tasted very fresh and had outstanding texture. After mixing all of the ingredients (noodles, beef, greens, scallions, garlic, sauce), the Crispy Minced Beef Noodle was full of flavor/umami. It was filling, comforting, and satisfying. Along with the noodles, what impressed me about the Braised Beef Noodle Soup were the large, tender, quality chunks of beef. The broth left a little something to be desired. I don't think it was rich nor complex enough, but that was OK (may be unfair to expect too much of this place given the location and price point). The apps were good. The Beef Filet with Tripe in Szechuan Sauce included beef omasum and beef tendon which you can order separately if you want. If you order the "Beef Filet with Tripe in Szechuan Sauce," you get everything (filet, omasum, tendon). This is a typical Sichuan cold dish which I like to order. I enjoy the different textures, the savory and spicy flavors, and the rich mouthfeel (oily, but in a good way). Wheat's version had generous portions and the quality of the ingredients was fine. That said, the dish lacked certain flavors. My wife expected there to be more sour/vinegar while I would've loved some Sichuan peppercorn for the "numbing" effect (of the "mala" spice). Minor criticisms aside, I'd order this dish again and I recommend it if you're generally a fan of these types of dishes. The Salt and Pepper Pork Ribs were recommended to us by our server. The ribs were a good recommendation. They were quite tasty. The ribs were served bone-in and had a good combination of fat and lean meat. Red chili powder came on the side. The ribs were yummy with or without the spice. The portion size was kind of small with eight bite-sized pieces, but for $6.99, I'm not going to complain much. The Pickled Cucumber was very typical of what my wife grew up eating (Chinese household). It was a bit salty, but crisp and refreshing overall. Our server Ricky was fantastic. He was the only server for the entire place. He was super friendly and attentive. Wheat is lucky to have him.During our Friday visit around 6:45pm, the dining room got moderately busy. Both were so yummy! The hanger steak was simple. Perfectly cooked, sea salt, lemon grass (naturally) with a side of peanut sauce and the most amazing cucumber salad I've ever had. As a lover of peanut sauce, I still could've done without it. The steak was great alone. The beer bulgogi was smokey, delicious. We finished with the chocolate mousse with cookie crumbles. It was good, but I honestly enjoyed the main dishes much more. More and more, service is key for me. They were celebrating their 18th anniversary (I think) at jujube this day and I can see why. Just a great, genuine overall delicious experience. I can't wait to return and wait out traffic. I'd also go out of my way to eat there again."

Sarah S. "This place is always busy! I have come twice so far. I really like the pho here. Not as good as pho far east but still good. I ordered pho and a side of rice. The beef rib pho is also good too. The place is well kept and all the wait staff make sure you are ok and taken care of which is nice. I came here because this is convenient to my home and needed soup from my upset stomach. Worth a visit if you're craving pho."

I had an amazing bowl with green beans, chicken and tons of flavor!!! I also tried the short rib dumplings. I mean how do you not try short rib anything??!!! Way to go Corner Yaki. Delicious!!"
