The menu items I tried were absolutely delicious! Great espresso and dessert to finish off our lovely dining experience. I bought a few items to take home from their stock of cheeses, snacks, and salt. Service was speedy and attentive. I have been back for takeout a couple times. We will be back! Maybe I will try some other items since I have been sticking to the beef sandwich - so good!!

Coming from an area of NJ where there are many Portuguese take out places, I've missed this type of food quite a bit since moving to NC. So I was super excited to hear about Little Portugal, which opened a few years ago. I decided to wait until after the pandemic to try them.So I had a free afternoon alone and decided to stop there recently on a Saturday afternoon. There was only 1 other party eating outside, but inside they were getting ready for a large party. I asked if the the picadinho could be made with chicken, as that was my favorite way of eating this dish. While it might not be traditional, I've seen it with chicken on other menus. I was told they could not do it because they didn't have the chicken to do so. Ok, so I moved on to the sandwiches and noticed they didn't have a chicken option, so I ordered the steak. The waitress, who had a sweet disposition and told me that she was new, went to put it my order and I overheard the other woman question her: "I thought she wanted chicken???" So the waitress came back and offered me a fried chicken sandwich, which surprised me. I thought maybe the chicken might be grilled, as I've had in other Portuguese restaurants. I figured it can't be so bad, so why not? I started with a can of Sumol (Portuguese soda, so good) from the cooler. I wasn't offered a cup or a straw. It was clear they were too busy getting ready for their party of 15.As for the food, the rice was good, the fries were ok when they were hot, but as they cooled, they tasted a bit burned. I'd give 10 stars for the Portuguese bread (oh, how I miss this bread!) but 1 star for the chicken cutlet that tasted like old frying oil. At first it tasted similar to fried, but it seemed more like food service pre-made chicken croquette patties. Despite the odd taste, I ate one until I bit into a hard piece, then gave up and ate the roll with lettuce and tomato. I threw the chicken away completely after only 2 bites. When I went to check out, I was not asked if my food was ok, but instead the owner made small talk about the large party needing to get their food fast because "Portuguese fathers like to be fed quickly!" Not one question if I enjoyed my food or if there were any issues -- only the assumption that I'd want to discuss these other people who I didn't know and didn't dine with. My meal seemed like an intrusion on their afternoon, and that the large Portuguese party mattered more than my silly little lunch. My simple chicken sandwich with rice and fries and 2 cans of Sumol came to nearly $30 with the tip. I didn't bother getting a pateis de nata (egg custard cup) even though I wanted one because I just wanted to leave. My visit was disappointing and I'll pass on going back with my family.

My food was great, however, the website offered curbside pick-ups and that was not the case. Even though I had to get out of my car, unexpectedly the staff at the counter was polite

Was really excited about this place since there's so few Portuguese restaurants in the Triangle. It's a small luncheonette located between Guardian Angel Thrift and a laundromat in Fuquay. The place was packed at 2pm with every seat taken. Good sign. It was a long wait to place and finally get our to-go order. Not sure why everything took so long since many of menu items should've been prepped ahead of time but they definitely needed additional staffing and some help with efficiency. The food- I thought $12 for the sandwiches were steep for what we got. The chicken sandwich had decent flavor but it was stewed whole chunks of chicken breast which made it stringy and chewy. It was just chicken. Nothing else in the sandwich. The bread was very food. Potato salad was ok with eggs, peas & carrots in a mayo base. The bifana sandwich had a lot more flavor. The pork cutlets were tender (because it had some fat content) & like the chicken, it was just the cutlets. Nothing else. The broccoli was very good especially since they ran out of green beans and made this fresh for our order. The Pasteis- the highlight of our experience was the Pasteis de Nata, the famous Portuguese dessert. They're little tarts with a thin flakey filled with a delicious egg custard & dusted with cinnamon. The custard was rich, creamy & not too sweet. They were perfect & was a huge favorite since lots of people were buying them.

The food was great, but the thinly veiled racist attitude of owner (unconscious microaggressions) not so much. I say that because I noticed how my Caucasian friend was treated in a friendly manner, but owner's shift in demeanor toward my non White self. I just moved here to North Carolina, in September, and this is only poor experience in a usually welcoming community. Sad, in 2024.

Awesome! Not a huge menu, but everything cooked from scratch. Even something as unassuming as green beans were outstanding. HIGHLY recommend you try this establishment. Had shrimp dish, wife had roasted chicken. Both excellent. Desserts also excellent! TRY IT!
