We had hot sake which was good and then sushi for two which was delicious. It was fresh, nice sized pieces, good variety and yummy. The service was great, our waiter was sweet and professional. Great sushi in a great environment. Was reasonably priced too. We didn't use the BOGO but there is for the rolls."

Daniel B. "Note: Queen of Pho was renamed to Siamzap Pho on Yelp within the past couple weeks. This review describes our visit under the Queen of Pho business name.In this area, which is a pho desert, for the pho and service alone, Queen of Pho was decent. In Chapel Hill, we liked the pho at Queen of Pho better than the pho at Pho Happiness on West Franklin St: https://www.yelp.com/biz/pho-happiness-chapel-hill.The Goi Cuon (fresh spring rolls) and Bun Bo Hue (Hue-style noodle soup) left something to be desired. We appreciated our server Vicky's honesty. Honest almost to a fault (more on that below). Overall, service was top-notch from everyone including Vicky, her kids, and the kind folks in the kitchen. This is very much a humble, mom-and-pop business. The dishes came out fast, especially the pho. Here's what we got:A1. Saigon Fresh Rolls - Goi Cuon (2 for $5.99) - protein (we chose pork) wrapped in rice paper with lettuce and steamed vermicelli, served with peanut sauceP7. Pho Beef Combination - Pho Dac Biet x2 (medium bowl, $12.99 each) - beef broth, cooked 100% from beef bone (not instant), rice noodles, green and yellow onion, basil, bean sprouts, lime (seasonal); meats described belowP12. Hue Style Spicy Beef Soup - Bun Bo Hue (medium bowl, $12.99) - pho noodles, beef shank, mixed beef, pork, and shrimp brothThe amount of meat in the Goi Cuon was sad. Miniscule. Really thin slices of pork, not even close to any of the other Goi Cuon I've had. I do think it's nice they give you different protein options: shrimp, pork, chicken, tofu. Most Vietnamese restaurants I've been to don't offer that. And the rolls were indeed made fresh. However, the meat was close to non-existent and therefore, the rolls were more like eating vermicelli and shredded lettuce rice wraps.Whenever I order pho, I like to get the Pho Dac Biet, which is pho with everything. Here that means rare eye round steak, beef shank, fatty brisket, tripe (beef stomach), and beef tendon meatball. The broth was delicious. It tasted genuine. The meat quality was good. I think the portions could have been better, but they were fair for the price. In general, I thought the prices were reasonable. The veggie quality was good too. The only veggie that was missing was culantro, but around these parts, I'm not surprised. On the menu, I like how they say the lime is "seasonal" because pretty much every other pho restaurant I've been to that has served lemon instead of lime doesn't say why.As far as bowl sizing goes, it's relative and subjective, but I think Queen of Pho's three bowl sizes should be small, medium, and large instead of medium, large, and extra large. In other words, our "medium" bowls felt more like "small" bowls, to give you an idea of what to expect. The Bun Bo Hue was disappointing. It was too spicy. I love spicy food and it was too spicy, even for me. I did order it after reading the warning on the menu: "KINDLY BE AWARE IT'S VERY HOT SPICY!!!" Our server Vicky warned me too. So, I was okay taking the loss and ordering a second Pho Dac Biet to eat in its place.Spice aside, Queen of Pho's Bun Bo Hue was unlike any I've seen. Vicky was real with us and said the reason they serve pho noodles in their Bun Bo Hue instead of the traditional, rounder, thicker rice noodles is because of the lack of demand for Bun Bo Hue at their restaurant. In this area, that's understandable. After hearing about how spicy the Bun Bo Hue was and how they use pho noodles in it, I considered ordering one of the vermicelli (bun) dishes. Vicky told us they were out of the pickled carrots and daikon radish along with some other ingredient(s) that normally go with bun. Again, we appreciated Vicky's honesty, but I was starting to run out of options to order! We saw Vietnamese sandwiches (banh mi) on the picture menu, but during our visit, Vicky said they weren't serving banh mi either.Along with the aforementioned dishes, Queen of Pho serves stir-fried egg noodles (mi), Vietnamese crispy egg noodles (mi xao gion), and rice (com) and fried rice (com chien) dishes. They also offer Vietnamese smoothies (sinh to) with boba and Vietnamese iced coffee (ca phe sua da). If you're familiar with Vietnamese food, I'd come here with tempered expectations. I think you can only expect so much in this area.Queen of Pho opened in March 2017 in the Timberlyne Village (Food Lion) shopping center near I-40 exit 266. It replaced the old Queen of Sheba Ethiopian restaurant: https://www.yelp.com/biz/queen-of-sheba-chapel-hill."

The Satay is a great street food and the peanut sauce was so good! The chicken was high quality! The Tom sum or papaya salad is very refreshing change with it being a hot summers day. I like spice and I asked for a 3 out of 1-5 spice level. It was really good! I would even say authentic. If I was living in Goldsboro this is my Go-To!!! The pricing is pretty steep for the portion size that is my only thing that I have as a negative with this spot!"

The restaurant walls are nicely decorated with traditional art, and there is ample seating available. Although it was busy, the waiters were very friendly and attentive. I tried their nigiri for the first time and it was delicious!! The fish was fresh and flavorful, and the portion was pretty generous. The bathroom and some of the seating is located in a train car and has train-related decor. It's a very cute aesthetic and concept (and a perfect name to go with the theme) - but it's not overwhelming or over the top. The perfect amount of decorations regarding trains without being gimmicky. I ordered the duck noodle soup and a thai iced tea. The thai ice tea was served in a very large glass and the soup came in a large bowl - the serving size was plentiful. The broth in the soup was excellent - and the duck well cooked (tender and flavorable). Would highly recommend the dish."

Chandra J. "So, I had Champa a few months ago through Uber Eats and was blown away by their veggie pineapple rice. I was just as blown away yesterday when I decided to dine in. The place was packed, so I sat at the bar. I had already decided that I wanted curry, so I was torn between red, green, and yellow. I asked the server about them, and she said she didn't really know. I went with the green curry and vegetables as my protein. When I asked what vegetables were included with this, she again said she didn't know but never offered to ask or get back to me with the answer. I waited a while for my food, which I was expecting. I got to check out more of their decor and see the sushi makers make magic! The wait was worth it as my curry came out piping hot! The first thing I noticed was all the veggies--broccoli, onions, carrots, bok choy, green beans, and other colorful veggies filled my bowl! I took a big first bite and was blown away by the delicious heat and spice. Every bite was so good! Wish that my stomach could fit more, but I took this deliciousness home where it will greet me for lunch or dinner!Minus one star for the service as my server never came back to check on me and was not helpful with the menu selections. Daniel B. "I enjoyed our dinner at Bida Manda in downtown Raleigh. This restaurant is fairly unique, especially in North Carolina, because it specializes in Lao food. Lao cuisine is similar to Thai cuisine, but it's not exactly the same. Generally, I thought the food and drink here were good and service was great. I recommend this place.Bida Manda opened on September 5, 2012. It's next door to Brewery Bhavana, across from Moore Square. Both businesses, which are popular and have become Raleigh staples, have the same owners: brother and sister, Vansana ("Van") and Vanvisa Nolintha. Brewery Bhavana opened on March 29, 2017.A fellow Yelper recommended Bida Manda to me years ago, but also made me aware of the employee allegations that came out against Van: https://carolinas.eater.com/21611662/bida-manda-bhavana-brewery-misconduct-sexual-assault-allegations-van-nolintha-raleigh During our visit, Bida Manda appeared alive and well.My coworkers and I had a Monday night reservation at 7:30pm. Around that time, the place was completely packed - bar and dining room. It was really loud. It looked like there were other work groups there too.Due to the popularity of this place, even on a Monday night, I recommend making a reservation. Bida Manda is on OpenTable and awards dining points (not all OpenTable restaurants do), so that's a plus. You can park on the street or in the nearby Moore Square Station parking deck. During my visit, street parking was metered Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm. I couldn't find street parking, so I parked in the deck. The deck is located behind the restaurant, in the same block. Its address is 233 S Wilmington St. It was free to park in the deck outside of Monday-Friday, 7am-7pm. Note: If you park in the deck, you have to walk by the bus station, which can have some sketchy characters.Bida Manda means "father mother" in Lao. The restaurant was named in honor of the Nolinthas' parents. Large black and white photos of the parents are suspended above the hostess stand and are among the first things you'll see upon entry. The interior has exposed ceilings, pendant lighting, concrete floors, and Tolix chairs.Below is a list of what four of us ordered and shared, plus my single cocktail (the others got drinks too, but I didn't document them). This list should give you a decent idea of what Bida Manda offers and how much it costs.Cocktail* Berry Old Fashioned ($15.00) - bourbon, blueberry, cinnamon syrup, bittersAppetizers* Crispy Rice Lettuce Wraps ($16.90) - "served as afternoon snack in Laos, this is our most beloved appetizer at Bida Manda," hand-tossed crunchy coconut rice with fresh herbs, fried garlic, shallot crisp, peanuts, eggs, lime, and baby romaine lettuce; served with housemade caramelized sweet chili sauce* Luang Prabang Lemongrass Sausage ($16.90) - aromatic housemade pork sausage with fresh herbs, jasmine rice, ground pork belly, and served with pickled ginger* Lao Beef Jerky - Seen Savahn ($15.90) - housemade fried dehydrated beef with peppercorn, sesame seeds and spices, served with charred tomato jeow, and a side of sticky riceEntrees* Crispy Pork Belly Soup ($26.90) - "traditionally served as breakfast in Laos," coconut curry broth with lime leaf, julienned vegetables, peanuts, eggs, fresh herbs, rice noodles, and crispy pork belly* Green Papaya Salad ($16.90) - hand-julienned unripe papaya, tomatoes, peanuts, housemade tamarind dressing, and sticky rice; with fresh Thai chili added to heat preference* Duck Laab ($26.90) - hand-tossed meat salad with fresh local herbs, spicy lime and fermented Padek fish sauce, shredded galangal, toasted rice powder, and sticky rice* Sea Bass Mok ($40.90) - eight ounces of aromatic sea bass marinated in a housemade curry with coconut cream, wrapped in a banana leaf and baked; served with sticky rice* Kua Mee Lao - Pad Lao ($24.90) - caramelized fried rice noodle, julienned egg omelette, fresh herbs, bean sprouts, peanuts, and fried tofu (can also choose pork belly or shrimp for your protein)Dessert* Purple Rice ($10.90) - "traditional Laotian dessert" with purple sticky rice, fresh mango, coconut custard, and palm sugar tamarind caramel sauceOverall, I thought all of the food and drink were fresh and tasty. There wasn't a single bad item. Everything was presented beautifully as well. For me, the standouts were the Lemongrass Sausage, Crispy Pork Belly Soup, Green Papaya Salad, Duck Laab, and Purple Rice. That said, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the items listed above. They were all enjoyable in their own unique way. For example, I thought the quality of the Sea Bass was very good. It was tender and flavorful.Service was exceptional. Two examples: (1) Our server neatly packed and labeled my leftovers. Daniel B. "Asian Kitchen, which has been around since at least February 2010, had a resurgence thanks to a concerted social media effort beginning around August 2023. Content for this business really ramped up in 2024. In early 2024, my wife saw a Reel for Asian Kitchen on Instagram and that's how we came to get takeout from and dine in here.At the time, we thought to ourselves, "Wait. *That* Asian Kitchen in the Harris Teeter shopping center (Hope Valley Commons) near our apartment?" We lived in the area for four years and didn't think much of this place because it looked like just another run-of-the-mill Chinese takeout joint. Kudos to the staff/owner(s) on what I think was a successful rebrand. It certainly reached us.Check out Asian Kitchen's Instagram account @asiankitchen.nc to see high-quality pictures and videos of their chefs at work, hand-pulling Chinese noodles, along with their now-popular dumplings and other dishes: https://www.instagram.com/asiankitchen.nc/My wife has been here more times than me. My first experience was takeout and then I revisited twice with my wife and parents for dine-in. The first time, we showed up at 2pm on a Sunday and the place was unexpectedly slow. The dining room was mostly empty with servers idling. The second time, we showed up at 7pm on a Thursday and the place was busy. During that visit, the restaurant seemed short-staffed.At both dine-in visits, there was no one at the hand-pulled noodle station for the duration of our visits -- I understand because of demand and the time of our visits. That said, I've been to other hand-pulled noodle restaurants that keep the show going for whatever reason. Maybe those other places make smaller and/or made-to-order batches.Asian Kitchen's menu offers a fairly extensive selection, but it could be a lot more descriptive. For example, what makes their dishes "Hunan?" What comes with the "Hot Pot Beef?" You have to rely on your server for answers. If the menu did get more descriptive, they'd have to switch from simple laminated one-sheet menus to more expensive magazine-like menus, so I get why they designed theirs the way they did. While "Asian" is in the name, this restaurant is Chinese. There are lots of "authentic" dishes on the menu, from Sauteed Frog ($28.99) to Dry Hot Pot Lamb ($22.99). This isn't an American-Chinese place, though they offer those dishes too. Lunch specials, about $10 and under, are available Tuesday-Friday, 11:00am-2:30pm.Here's what I've tried:Hand Made Ramen* H3. Spare Rib Ramen ($12.99)Shaved Noodles* H10. Spare Rib Shaved Noodles ($12.99)Special Noodles* H29. Dan Dan Shaved Noodles ($11.99)Appetizer* A3. Shredded Tripe with Chili Sauce ($12.99)* A4. Sweet & Sour Short Ribs ($12.99)* A9. Eggplant Stew ($15.99)* F4. Sauteed Ong Choy ($15.99)Off-Menu Items* Bean Sprouts in Garlic Sauce ($16.99)* Stir-fried Snow Pea Tips (I forgot the price, probably around $16)In general, all of the food we've had from Asian Kitchen has been good. My wife considers it comfort food (we both grew up in Chinese households). The noodles, which are Chinese lamian, are made from wheat flour dough. Here, the difference between hand-pulled (or hand-made) and shaved (or knife-cut) noodles is the shape of the noodles. Hand-pulled noodles are round while shaved noodles are flatter. It's a subtle difference and you can't go wrong either way. We thought all of the noodle dishes were solid. They were fresh and flavorful (broth and ingredients), and the noodles had good texture. Well made. We asked for chili oil to add to our lamian. They can bring a jar to your table upon request. As for the other (non-noodle) dishes, we enjoyed everything. One thing I like about Asian Kitchen's Shredded Tripe with Chili Sauce is the generous portion size. The Sweet & Sour Short Ribs were tasty and addictive. The short ribs could have been meatier, but the portions we got weren't unreasonable. One of my dad's favorite dishes is Chinese steamed chicken and he seemed to enjoy Asian Kitchen's spicier version. The Stir-fried Pork with Hunan Style, Eggplant Stew, Bean Sprouts in Garlic Sauce, Sauteed Ong Choy and Stir-fried Snow Pea Tips were all fresh and delicious. The latter two are my top two favorite Chinese vegetables. Asian Kitchen made terrific versions of them. The ong choy was especially addictive. I couldn't stop eating it.Despite the spice level shown next to each dish on the menu, you can customize the spice level on many dishes.Service was very good for our takeout and first dine-in experience. When we dined in the first time, the staff was extra attentive because business was slow. When we dined in the second time, there was only one server and one food runner for the entire dining room. You can guess how that went."

Nicole M. "I do not have enough words on how incredible Thai 55 is! Recommended by an incredible friend, we came here together and you can tell how great the people are the moment you walked in. The absolute kindest and most intentional people work here, they really make the entire experience elevate to another level. HUGE shoutout to Tommy- he is so warm and welcoming, also very fun and funny! He greets everyone with a smile and warmth, truly incredible. The inside is also very cute, spacious, and very clean. The menu is filled with incredible dishes, I found it hard to narrow what I wanted down cause everything looks so good. I found myself thinking of wanting to come here every week so I could have a little bit of everything. I'm also a huge fan of eggplant, Tommy recommended I get the lunch special (which usually range between $10-$13 per plate, huge portions and comes with rice- incredible deal). Worry not about the spice levels- you can choose! You MUST get their Thai tea! I'm a fan of it coming in a mason jar with a handle, looks very pretty (aesthetic, you can mix the cream into the tea- sadly my photo is too blurry to do it Justice). Super delicious! For dessert- you have to get the mango sticky rice. A top tier dessert, not too sweet, tastes really creamy and refreshing. Always a beautiful balance of flavors. Be sure to come here to check them out! 10/10 would recommend :)"

Meera K. "Absolute favorite Thai place in the Chapel Hill area! Food is delicious, flavorful, fresh and fast. Staff is always friendly and service is on time. The only slight downside if I had to say is that the parking is not right in front of the restaurant, but that does give us a chance to walk off and digest all the delicious food you'll consume here! The lunch specials are generous and so affordable"

Onvara A. "Ok everyone go check out Mia Bistro!!! We had heard about a new Asian restaurant opening up in the area and hadn't gotten around to checking it out yet, but one day after a movie, we were hungry and stumbled in looking for a late lunch.I was excited to see so many delicious sounding Thai dishes on the menu. We got the som tum (papaya salad), crab fried rice, and Thai iced tea. Everything tasted authentic and incredible. We were pausing to compliment the flavors after every bite. The crab fried rice was a little pricey, but there were a lot of chunks of crab in it.The ambiance of the restaurant is really cute and slightly upscale. Service was also really friendly and attentive. I'm so excited to come back and try some more dishes!"

Stephanie J. "I started out with a glass of riesling (wine) then our table split a few orders of the spring rolls and crab cheese wontons. For my meal I ordered the cashew nut chicken stir fry with a little spice for the heat level. I really enjoyed the starters but thought that the stir fry was just okay. It was good overall but it would not be my first choice for Thai."

Deja H. "Another day, another ramen craving. I had never been to Tasu Noodle Bar, but it was recommended to me by a friend. I got Tonkotsu ramen (my favorite) because I am on the hunt for the best. I really did enjoy it. I really, really loved the Napa cabbage in it. The other places I've tried usually don't have Napa cabbage in the ramen, but now I prefer it, so I will be coming back here for the ramen. I also got the crab rangoons, those were decent."

Matt C. "So, when the best sushi chef in the Triangle (who is Thai) says "this is the best Thai place around," you go check it out. Bird was right. This place is pretty darn good. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and all ordered the pad Thai, because that's what Bird said to get. What we got was a deep bowl of beautifully sauced rice noodles- sweet, sour, umami-packed. The garnishes are what always get it for me- crunchy bean sprouts, lightly charred green onions, not-too-many crushed peanuts, and generous protein (we all got the chicken). There's a wide variety of teas and such available in the punch-the-top cup, with plenty of add-one like boba or pudding and such. Service is sweet and attentive, and the homey cafe vibe makes you want to just hang out and people-watch the neighborhood folks who are dropping in and out."
