"All the yums! Hubs searched and picked Wye Hill for our brunch date, and I'm SO glad he did! I loved everything from the relaxing patio seating/views and the delicious food, to the awesome service we received from Mason. The sweet potato hash and (my bite of) the turkey burger was fantastic. I enjoyed my Retox cocktail and the view of downtown. All in all, it was a great dining experience and I can't wait to return. Cheers!"
"I am still a fan of the Bearded Bee! They have great staff and quality live music, two hard to find amenities in many small breweries around NC. BB has some very comfortable seating arrangements; the very large couches are great for small groups or families! Unfortunately, the odds of having slightly inconsiderate solo individuals occupying those areas rather than the more appropriate tables scattered throughout area are considerably great. They definitely produce some very good brews on both ends of the spectrum, and since my preference is lightest or darkest, I can't speak to any of those in between. Like most other local drinkeries they do have outdoor seating, sadly those seats don't come with any sort of propane heat for the colder months, so dress warm if you plan on sitting outside. Stop in for a brew or two and enjoy the live music, hopefully the improvements will keep coming, Wendell needs a place like this. Cheers!"
"Finally another option on Broad Street that is not Aviator! I really like OSB beer so I was excited to see them open a taproom here. I had an Any Victory Will Do and Bold Venture, two of my favorite IPA's from here. The space looks small from the outside but it's spacious inside. Cheers!"
"Do a tour So much fun lots to learn. First we sat down and had 6 flights, for me they were big I think I finished 2. When we got there the place was busy the one bartender they had did a great job handling all the people and making sure everyone had the right flights to taste. Then we took the tour. Our tour guide walked us through all the brewing process and the storage areas including the refrigerator. He was fun and informative. At the end of the tour they gave us a souvenir glass. Enjoy!"
"This is a new location and is walking distance from downtown. It's a great place with beautiful outdoor seating. As you'll see from the photos, there are plenty of heaters to keep you toasty. We were there the weekend it snowed, and we were able to sit outside for a beer without a problem. The beer is good, too."
"My only visit here (so far) coincided with a Taylor Swift Trivia Contest and the place, as you can imagine, was packed! And filled with plenty of energy. My son and I were not dissuaded by the long line due to the reputation and ratings of BCC. Our wait in line was worth the time and effort. My son ordered the pineapple guava slushie and I ordered a flight of four ciders. Flights of five ciders are another option. BCW also offers cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages of sodas and kombucha. On this evening, I ordered Rhize Up, the Matador, Créme de l'Orange, and Pom Pom Cherie. All four were tasty in their respective flavor profiles. Seasonal ciders are offered and the BCC website lists the names, flavors and drop dates. The location offers indoor seating with long tables and big screen TVs. Outdoor seating varies from individual seating to stand up seating. A fire pit is located in one corner. On this occasion, no fire was seen. When I'm in the area again and in the mood for cider, I'll head here."
"Excellent brewery in Clayton. I had heard of Deep River before, but hadn't made the trip over to it in Clayton until now. I was looking for a yoga class and saw that Victory Power Yoga was leading an hour class at Deep River for $10 which included a pint of beer. What a great deal. I arrived and easily found parking beside the brewery. The yoga class was indoors by the stack of cans. The doors are left open or closed depending on the weather and noise level. The picnic tables and chairs are moved to the walls temporarily to make room on the floor for yoga. Bring your own mat. After the class, we went to the bar for the included pint. I tried a couple of options: schwarzy, 4042 chocolate stout, ginger snapped, and watermelon lager. I would have selected any of them. They had great flavor and tasted as I hoped. I decided on the schwarzy black lager. It was heavy, sharp, and had a great flavor. The employees were all friendly and efficient. Plus they play excellent music at an appropriate volume. While there I learned that Deep River brewery was the first legal brewery in Johnston County. Bathrooms are available inside. As you walk to the restrooms you can take a peek into the brewery. Check out their website for events and food truck schedule...or stop by to try their brews. I had a positive experience here and recommend this brewery to others!"
"Top of the Hill Restaurant & Brewery, also known as "TOPO," is a UNC and Chapel Hill institution. TOPO is located atop the intersection of Franklin and Columbia Streets, the epicenter of big Carolina basketball postgame celebrations, in the heart of downtown Chapel Hill. This place is busy and popular year-round and especially during Carolina basketball and football seasons. My wife and her co-residents tried to come here to watch the 2022 Final Four game between Carolina and Duke (Coach K's last game), but it was full so they went to Linda's up the street instead.TOPO has been a regular dinner spot for my wife and her co-residents during her four years in Chapel Hill. When she brought me here for dinner, there was another group of residents and attendings on the patio. We arrived just before 6pm on a Thursday (non-game night) and were able to snag one of the high-top tables that overlooked Franklin Street. It was nice. I can't think of any other restaurants or bars in Chapel Hill that have as good of a city view, so this place definitely has that going for it.TOPO is also a versatile spot, functioning more as a sit-down restaurant during the daytime and more as a bar Thursday-Saturday nights (open until 2am those nights). This is a brewpub; they brew their own beer on-site. TOPO has multiple award-winning brews, a few of which are noted below. Along with beer, they have a full bar serving several different types of cocktails ($8-16 each) including a variety of mules ($8 each). The cuisine is American. During our dinner visit, most apps, salads, sandwiches, and bowls were priced in the $10-15 range and most entrees were about $15-30 each. Here's what we got:Beer* Beer Sampler ($13) - five-ounce pours of all of TOPO's six draft beers' Kenan Lager - Best in Show, Carolina Championship of Beer' Bell Tower Blueberry Wheat - Platinum Medal, World Championship of Beer' Old Well White - Platinum Medal, World Championship of Beer' Quite Right IPA' Alma Mater Amber Ale' Blackwood Mountain StoutStarters* Jalapeno-Cheddar Hushpuppies (6 for $6.99) - cornmeal hushpuppies with jalapeno, cheddar cheese and buttermilk, served with white cocktail sauceEntrees* Buttermilk Fried Chicken ($18.50) - locally-sourced crispy fried breast with mushroom cream gravy topped with diced tomatoes and scallions, mashed potatoes, garlic-sauteed French beans, and a buttermilk biscuit* TOPO Whiskey & Coke Braised Beef ($23.99) - boneless beef short rib slow-braised in a Whiskey & Coke sauce with roasted vegetables and mashed potatoesIf you've never been to TOPO before, the Beer Sampler is a great way to go. You can sample all of TOPO's draft list without committing to a full glass. When we visited, there were six beers on tap, regularly $6-8 per serving. The sampler came with a neat and informative placemat menu. It had a description of each beer along with tasting notes. My wife's favorites were the Quite Right IPA followed by the Bell Tower Blueberry Wheat. I thought all six beers tasted good and I didn't have a favorite. It was a three-way tie between the Kenan Lager, Old Well White, and Alma Mater Amber Ale, all of which were very different. I guess what I'm saying is you really can't go wrong with any of the in-house beers here.My wife recommended the Jalapeno-Cheddar Hushpuppies. She likes them because both their texture and flavor stand out. I agree - they were tasty and addictive. The Jalapeno-Cheddar Hushpuppies are one of the apps that she and her co-residents like to order and share. Others they like to get include the Lizard Chips ($9.50), which are sliced dill pickles and jalapenos deep-fried in TOPO beer batter and served with a "Baja" dipping sauce, and the Sweet Potatoes & Peppadew Pepper Jelly ($11.99), which are sweet potato fries with a cream cheese and pepper jelly. The entrees that we got, the Buttermilk Fried Chicken and the TOPO Whiskey & Coke Braised Beef, are TOPO classics. The fried chicken is an entree that one of my wife's attendings, who has been in Chapel Hill for decades, usually orders. It was yummy. Crispy, tender, and not too greasy. I liked the mushroom cream gravy and I thought both it and the green beans went well with the chicken. The braised beef was hearty and satisfying. I thought the meat was a little dry, but it was flavorful. I do recommend both of these dishes if you want to try what TOPO "is known for."Service was good, from the hostesses up front to our server, Coale. All the staff we interacted with were polite and efficient, and everything we ordered came out in a reasonable amount of time.We parked for free in a paved lot behind the restaurant. You can enter the lot via a small driveway on S Columbia St between TOPO and the Ackland Art Museum. TOPO is located on the third floor (highest floor).TL;DR version - I give TOPO four stars not for any one reason, but for the whole experience as a brewpub with a good view, good service, good drinks, and decent food."
"Altered State is finally serving beer but on release weekends only. They are located next door to Black Fire Brewing and have teamed up to offer one large outdoor space. There are no beers on draft, just cans and bottles that they pour for pints and flights. I tried a flight which consisted of the Losing California, Nektar, No Sleep, Pineapple Milkshake and Vortex of Decadence. My favorite was the Nektar, it's a gose with cherry and raspberry. I'm hoping that their hours will expand soon. I can't wait to try more of their beers, cheers!"
"Our orders: flight (stout, brown ale, lager and something else don't recall, might be a sour) and cider (not pictured).Possibly the best craft brews we had in our quick NC getaway. Truly impressed as someone who rarely likes beers. The brewery offers their own products on tap and other locally made drafts. Favorite of the night was the stout - smooth like good coffee, no bitter aftertaste. The brown ale was great too, with nutty notes. Did not feel heavy or bloated after!Small rustic interior, has outdoor seating in both front and back (biergarten with heating lamps and string lights). Street and off street parking both easily accessible."
"Wild Dogs Brewing is a new brewery in Sanford. They currently have six beers on tap but are in the process of brewing up more. I started off with a flight, you get to select 4 beers. I chose the APA, Kolsch, Pilsner and Dark Lager. As far as current favorites go, it was the APA for me, Dark Lager for my husband and Kolsch for my mom. If you don't like beer, they have cider and wine available. The service was also very friendly. I can't wait to return once they get more beers on tap."
"This Veteran owned brewery was a fun way to start our afternoon in Southern Pines. The service was friendly and the beer was good. I liked the space, there was a good amount of seating available both inside and outside. I had two flights and my husband had 2 pints. You get your choice of 4 beers for the flight, my favorite was the Mike Don't Like IPA(s). If you are in the area, check this spot out."

Went here our first night in town and it was just a crazy storm. We were reluctant to see what we would end up with on the patio b/c we had our dog with us. However, the patio setup they have is exceptionally well polished. The only issue for the immediate area is that the parking is pretty tight. However, from the looks of it, it seems that the whole 'parking is tough' is nothing new for anyone in the area.Looking at the setup, you see some pretty slick stuff for even a winter setup. I love how dog friendly they are as it just makes things great for us.The food, service, and beer - all delicious. I don't know how they were able to excel at all the areas, but wow keep it up!Food Taste: 5Overall Service: 5Value of food to cost: 5Facility: 5Ambiance: Modern ambiance inside and matching outdoor patio/section.Repeat customer: yesDog Friendly: patio

Your local neighborhood Brewery. This place was packed on a Friday evening, especially the outside patio. A bunch of families enjoying some cold brews with their friends. Parents bought their kids, looked like an entire little league team was there. Inside there was live music and a birthday party. A good size venue with lots swag and a decent amount of activities. The staff were friendly and efficient. I ended up getting a flight so I could taste several beers. The quality of beer was impressive.#Adulting:~ MAR-GOSE-RITA BEER SLUSHIE w/ whipped cream - 5/5I had a Beer Slushie before, but this one was on another level...especially during a hot summer evening. Drink good beer, play games, and tour the brewery!Pros:- Excellent selection of beers to choose from. My favorite is their Imperial Stout.- Beer descriptions are on point- Unique beers to try (e.g. Devil's Nightmare)- Flight glasses are large. None of us were able to finish our selections- Educational and fun brewery tour- Reasonable pricesCons:- On a Saturday afternoon, they only had one bartender. He was welcoming and efficient, but overworked. There were several large groups getting flights. Nonetheless he greeted customers, answered questions, poured pints, and provided updates as he fulfilled the seemingly never ending flight orders.- In the bar and on the tour there were lots of flies. They do keep the doors open, which provides good air flow so some flies are reasonable. The flies, especially on the tour, were plentiful and relentless. They were busy on a Saturday so plan accordingly. This may have been related to their Groupon deal. During the summer months, it is very warm at the bar and on the tour so dress accordingly.

What a cute brewery!!! They have beer and ciders. They also have A beer selection in cans in the back area you can buy to take home. They also have games (i.e. like checkers) to play at the tables. The food is limited to packaged snacks. Lots of good places to eat nearby. So hit this brewery up then stroll town and you will find good eats. I will be back when I visit NC again.

If i lived here, I would be coming back to hang out! They have a nice indoor space that opens out to the outdoor lawn, perfect for those warmer days! I was pretty full from lunch so didn't up getting a flight but tried a couple of samples and settled for my favorite flavor, pineapple, called the upside down. This is great if you like something a little bit sweeter like I do and it doesn't have an after taste like some of their other ciders do. Tastes more like a light pineapple soda. I love the names of all their ciders too - very creative and festive!

Great brewery in downtown Clayton. Small bar area with a large open sitting area off to the left. Tons of outside seating on the patio. Food trucks and music on weekends. I'm not a huge fan of their core beers, but they're limited release and taproom exclusives are outstanding. There is a wide variety of core beers, and they are good, but not great compared to their other stuff. Collaboration Without Representation is one of the best beers I've ever had (and that's saying a lot coming from a guy that has 8000 unique beers checked in on Untappd). Staff is friendly and very helpful. I definitely recommend this place to any craft beer drinker!

My group and I went to TOPO when visiting Chapel Hill for dinner. It was pretty busy in the evening, but there were a couple tables open. We journeyed up a couple flights of stairs to reach the top floor of the building for the restaurant. There was an outside portion as well which seemed to be an option, but we we were quickly seated inside.I ordered the buttermilk fried chicken, my friend got the mexicali bowl, and my brother ordered the top burger. I was thoroughly impressed with the fried chicken dish. The chicken was tender and juicy on top of delicious mashed potatoes along with a moist biscuit. There is so much more to the dish than suggested by the name, so I was a big fan! My friend was unable to finish her bowl, so she was able to take it away and bring it home. Overall, I had a positive experience at TOPO and would return!
Visit Restaurant Page"The Mason Jar Lager Company is finally open in the spot previously occupied by Draft Line Brewing! I am a huge fan of the restaurant so I was excited to check out the beers. They currently have four beers on tap: Virtue IPL, Stick Barn Schwarzbier, Happy Place Helles and Small Town Bock. And, are brewing up small batches that are released every Sunday. If I had to choose a favorite it would definitely be Happy Place Helles. I was a bit disappointed to hear that they do not offer flights so I recommend that you sample the beers before to ensure that you will like it before committing to a full pour. As far as the space goes, it is a bit smaller inside and it can get loud. I really hope that they get sound absorbers to help with that. Giant jenga and corn hole are no longer available to play inside, only outside, so visit on a nice day. I am excited to see what Mason Jar is brewing up next."
"Outside seating, dog friendly, child friendly, shaded seating, drink variety on tap (ciders, ale, etc) sparkling drinks and non alcoholic can options. Walkable downtown Cary. Definitely recommend for a day outin"
"Tried the brewery experience for two Groupon which included 2 flights and pint glasses. We really enjoyed our time here and found some brew that we liked a lot. Vohammie - plum spiced grissette, Poor Laurie - saison aged in oak, Coco Freakness - double chocolate stout (SO much chocolaty awesomeness), and Shady Grove - sour with nice berry flavor (not available in a flight, just get it if you like sours.)We received excellent service during our stay and enjoyed checking out Carrboro for an evening!"
"Nickelpoint Brewery is the quintessential neighborhood bar. You don't go there for the decor or because the atmosphere is chic and super swanky or hister-esc like some of these new places. Whether it was their intention or not, Nickelpoint is bringing in the neighborhood! One of the reasons might be the odd location of one of Raleigh's newer (but certainly not newest!) brewery; located deep in a neighborhood off Five Points. I'm an IPA drinker, and while their English IPA won't blow you away, it's definitely on par with other Triangle Breweries for quality and complexity. With a monthly dog competition (dogs gain points every time their owner[s] visit) where a dog wins the converted "dog of the month" award, this place is FULL of dogs of all sizes and shapes. Along with darts, giant jenga, cornhole and trivia once a week, there's plenty of entertainment. When the weather's nice, you can lounge outside on the picnic tables and grab a bite from the food truck of the night (every night BUT Monday--but they make-up for that with $4 drafts on Mondays!). I wouldn't tell someone visiting the Triangle to make this a destination spot, but for a local looking for a chill and neighborly environment, this may be exactly what you're looking for."
"We came in on a Friday afternoon with some Raliegh friends and met up with more, ended up being 9 total. There is seating inside and out to handle a larger group. The heat was getting to us so we moved inside to one of the concrete booths they have there"....mmmm concrete" (Homer Simpson voice inserted). They had not only an excellent selection of beers on tap, but also wine and frozen cocktails, something for everyone. The bar and other staff were all super friendly. Nice place to hang and have fun."
"Very fun spot for drinks, eats (BYOF), and music. Outside of their own selection, their RTP location has a large variety of drinks from other local breweries. Very large back patio area with tables and events. Very nice vibe there overall, the staff and patrons are friendly and inviting. *murals in the back are very dope!"
"I feel that honesty compels me to admit that I am NOT a big beer drinker. I love going to distilleries as I am much more of a spirits drinker. With my disclaimer out of the way let me implore you that if you are in/near/within reasonable driving distance...you MUST go to Fainting Goat!!First step right off the bat we were greeted by the friendliess staff I have yet met in any establishment like this. I've been to dozens of wineries where you can see the staff cringe when the patrons come in, tens of distilleries where the employees are bored silly and a few breweries (again, not my fav beverage) where they eagerly discussed their product but weren't too friendly. Not so here at Fainting Goat! Next, we were guided thru what they had that day as far as offerings and how we could best benefit from tasting them. We decided to get a flight of 6 tastings between myself & my friend. Hey, I had to be the responsible driver right? As we were chatting with the incredible female, another wonderful employee came out to ask how we were enjoying ourselves. (I need to explain gender designations....I am AWFUL with remembering names & after drinking half of the flight their names went completely out of my head). He was very knowledgeable and helpful. My friend's boyfriend works at a brewery in PA and she was able to chat more to this SUPER friendly employee more about the process and which beers taste better & where you can get them & percentages and blah blah....I did start to wonder off in my head to be honest. While we were sipping the flight he asked us if we had tried their version of german beer. Since we didn't have it, he poured us some for us to taste. This is the level of friendliness I'm talking about here. The place itself is in the downtown Benson area, not too hard to find. Your GPS will take you around the building for some reason, don't be nervous because the signage is very easy to see & spot. There is a lot of parking next to the building and a cute little patio out front. Inside it is a mix of industrial and down home friendly, with some truly funny signage and pictures. We asked about the name of the brewery and apparently it's NOT named after those infamous fainting goats but after the owner's nickname he acquired while in the service. They have some decent offerings here and the price can't be beat (we were charged $10 for the flight). This could very easily become one of my favorite places to visit. It's just a 30 min drive outside Raleigh & lets be honest, that's about the same amount of time it'd take you get to a restaurant in Cary after 4. This place will be infinitely more fun!"
"I absolutely love this place!! I love the concept of turning an old auto garage into an amazing bar/restaurant. I absolutely love that they've stuck with the theme. I've eaten at the Tap Station twice. Both times we sat at the downstairs bar and Nate was the bartender. Nate is friendly and always super nice to my Mom as she asks him a million questions. Their cocktails are good and they usually have a pretty great list of beers on tap. My favorite cocktail there is the Pain Killer. Last night I told my husband that I felt like I was drinking a glass of vacation! I did not even know that the section of the drink menu I ordered from was called Vacations. Hahaha! Every food item I've had there (we like to share with anyone we are there with so I have tasted many of their menu items) has been delicious. My personal favorite is the chicken egg rolls on the appetizer menu. The pimento cheese burger is really good too. I wish this place was closer to my house! We would definitely be regulars there. As it is such a haul from our house, we will definitely stop in any time we are out that way."
"Been here once so far and definitely want to return. The employees and regulars are awesome. They are welcoming and love dogs. Dogs are not allowed inside (other than service dogs). They do have a pet friendly outdoor patio (with heaters). Nearly everyone there came outside to greet my dog and I. Since I couldn't go inside they watched my dog while I went inside to get a beer. The bartender was friendly and efficient. She even brought out a water bowl. Without tasting other options, I chose the pecan maple porter ($7). It was excellent. Smooth, flavorful, and strong albeit pricy (comparable to other breweries in the area). Definitely would order that again, although I do want to try their other options. Several people were sitting outside and welcomed any at their table and into their conversations. Inside, the brewery was hosting an open mic night. I would have liked to hear more of it, but the outdoor patio was peaceful. As the sun came down, they started the heaters/fire pits. Ample parking is available right out front. Nearby parking lots and street parking is also available. Overall, excellent experience here and I highly recommend this brewery to others!"
"This brewery was chill. I had a flight and my husband had a pour of the Barreless Milk Stout. The flights come with 5 selections, I selected the Mike's Banana Hamik, Hazelnut Toffee Porter, 60 Watt IPA, Hell of a Day IPA and Watermelon Crawl. All were good but my favorite was the banana witbier (shockingly). If you want to sit inside or outside you have options. Check out their social media pages to see what food truck and events are going on. Cheers!"
"We went here for the first time this weekend to see one of my son's teachers band. We've always driven by and thought this place and the little Main Street were so cool and right up our alley being from MPLS. It was busy but thankfully we got a large table for our expected large party. It was beautiful outside. They even have an 2 story patio. We got the aviator pizza ( a few substitutes tho) Mac and cheese pizza and nachos. Everything was amazing. The nachos were my favorite. We had the best sour beer we've had since moving here. I also had the rum punch drink and it was fabulous and strong. Loved it!"
"I love Trophy, it's one of my favorite breweries in the area. I enjoy trying all of their new IPA's but my personal favorite is Cloud Surfer. My husband's favorites are the Milky Way, Slingshot Coffee Porter and El Hombre. Check out their website and/or social media pages to see what events and food trucks will be at this location."
"Incendiary Brewing is based out of Downtown Winston-Salem but they have a location in Raleigh. The spot is really nice and the beer list is huge. They do not offer flights but you can order various sizes of beers. I ordered two 5 oz pours then a can of one of my favorites IPA's, Prosody. This spot is a must visit."
"We went here for lunch and had a great experience. The service was fantastic. Our server was very friendly and gave us good recommendations. I had the onion soup which was very very good. My wife got the half sandwich and salad special. The chicken salad was fresh and delicious. The salad had lots of veggies and a nice dressing. The place has a very nice easygoing vibe. Two people from the kitchen brought us our food in a very timely fashion. This is a good lunch spot for singles, couples or large group."
"First off I love the name of this brewery. I tried two flights and my husband ordered two pints. His favorite was the brown ale and my favorite was the Juicy Time IPA. I can't wait to try more beers once they have been open a little bit longer."
"A new brewery!! Welcome OSB to Fuquay-Varina in the spot previously occupied by Lincoln Brewing. The beer selection is slim currently but they have guest taps on in the meantime. Check out their Facebook page to stay up-to-date on what is brewing up next. They are looking to transform the room that was previously an arcade to a dog friendly area. I can't wait to check this place out again, the atmosphere was so inviting!"
"Food and service was pretty good! We ordered a hazy ipa and a blood orange ipa both were good. We ordered the chicken flatbread and Buffalo cauliflower appetizers. Both were delicious. Added bonus we got to bring the pup with us as well! A lot of selections to choose from and I was even able to order an aperol spritz which was perfect and refreshing!"
"Too many kids, I did not enjoy sipping my beer and getting rammed with a tricycle. I really liked the beer so that was unfortunate. I've been to the restaurant several times so it was cool to finally check out the brewery. It was also too hot, the cooling fans did not cool it enough so that was also a bummer."
"We were staying the night in the area and wanted to grab something to eat before we headed to the hotel for the night. We did a quick search and saw there was a Hi-Wire brewing in the area, which happens to brew my current favorite IPA. We also saw that Cugino Forno was next door and would deliver to the tables in the brewery, a win-win. Hi-Wire Brewing and Cugino Forno are next door to each other inside one of buildings formerly used by the Golden Belt Manufacturing Company. These buildings have a lot of history for the area. In the late 1800's, the Golden Belt Manufacturing Co. originated in a portion of the Bull Durham Tobacco Factory as an operation to produce the cloth bags in which the tobacco was sold. Now this area is a fully renovated Golden Belt Campus. We arrived at about 4:30 pm on a rainy Friday afternoon in April. Sitting outside wasn't an option and while it was already busy we were able to find a place to sit. We did notice several large tables were reserved. There are also quite a few activities, such as ping pong, bocce ball and cornhole. This is a great idea for small to large groups of people gathering to enjoy good beer. I went up to the counter to order a Double High-Pitch IPA and the servers were friendly and helpful. When I returned to the table we talked about how we didn't realize that Hi-Wire had locations outside of Asheville but we were wrong. Their website shows they are not only outside of Asheville, they are outside of North Carolina as well. We looked at their swag and really liked a few of their shirt options but the material was just too thin for my tastes, I like a heavier cotton shirt. We did purchase a 12-pack of beer and enjoyed our time at Hi-Wire."
"Gizmo has their third location in Durham. It's in a neat spot with a good mix of indoor and outdoor seating. The beer and game selections were good. You can also buy games and merchandise. If you are in the area, it's definitely worth checking it out. Cheers!"
"CRB is located in a hidden nook off of Gresham lake Rd. We come to Compass Rose frequently. There is a viewing area to see the brewing process, food trucks, yard games, and large tables for big groups. More of an industrial vibe for sure. This time around CRB featured amber to dark beer. They generally always have a cider on tap as well as a Hefeweizen. Each selection is a full tasting beer. For the non drinker they do have canned sodas and snacky foods. Even wine. I'd love to see CRB find their niche but overall we enjoy our time spent here. Game night is nice Bc they have a projector screen. Go Pack! Likes- clean Large space Projector screen Would be acceptable to bring children Scott's View (Scottish Amber) is a great tasting beer. Cons- no niche beer necessarily. Lack of distribution and advertisement. No food truck schedule. Chairs are appealing to the eye but not comfortable at all."
"Let's kick off 2024 with one of the newer beer bars, Proximity Brewing Co.! Located over in E. Durham, this black-owned business sits on the corner of Driver and E. Peabody in the same block as Mike D's BBQ. Mod and cozy at the same time, there's a main beer bar and 4-top seating in front, primarily in blacks and white with a back lounge area with comfortable couches. Proximity is primarily doing guest beers right now, I'm guessing they still need to spin up their brewing operations! 14 options on the draft list at about $7 a pint. Overall I like the space and what they're trying to do, the main challenge will be parking since there's very little street-side and pretty sure you'll have to hoof it over to this location. Overall a cool spot that's worth the walk..."
"The HefBlackened Chicken PastaNachos w/ grilled chickenBuffalo WingsDone deal papi. Lots of bar seating and patio seating. I'm sure it's a zoo on the weekends but I'll never know.
