Not sure why this is listed as Mexican food because it's not Mexican cuisine. They have Salvadoran food and let me tell you it's just delicious!! I've had their pupusas and they are cooked to order, none of that pre made stuff. The flavors are good and the portions are big. I've also tried their beans, fried plantains, and yuca. They're all good. The bad: Customer Service is the worst I've ever experienced. I've only gone to pick up orders togo and whoever rings up your order does not greet you, does not speak to you, and doesn't even smile. Every time I go I stand in front of them and they just stare at me and wait for me to tell them I'm there to pick up an order. They don't thank you for coming or they don't invite you back. I've heard the servers arguing with customers before too. They don't take cards on amounts under $10 so take cash!

Pupusas were greasy and tamales de pollo gross . Too white . The only good thing is that they suppose to close late. No even that because last time i called at 10:45 pm to place an order and they told me they were closed already when on their website it says they close at 11pm..

A good way to learn Spanish (and its country variations) is to immerse yourself in a place where they only speak Spanish. And, to a yelper, the 'place' is a restaurant like this one.The Salvadoran restaurant is one of four in Houston in the chain, and looks like a remodeled strip center place. It is fairly stark in décor, except for landscape murals (by Felix) on the walls of what looks like Salvador. But it looked clean, so I Their specialty is Pupusas, which are corn and/or rice dough filled with cheese and/or pork. But, the menu has a variety of dishes, including seafood and burgers. If you are really adventurous, you might try the beef feet soup (I didn't).On the table are some interesting things (but no free chips and dip):Bottle of Picamas hot sauce (Guatamaln green hot sauce... not very hot) and Curtido (vinegary cole slaw in a giant jar).Good news: There are pictures on the menu of several items. And if you are new to this kind of place, there are some interesting items, drinks and desserts on the menuI had:Tamales de galina (chicken) - 1/2" thick corn/rice masa wrapped in a banana leaf, and filled with a very small amount of chicken ... not worth the $2Antojitos Mexicanos (taco) - corn tortilla with cilantro, onions and chopped beef in 1/2" pieces .... very good taste and value, and for only $1.50 ea.Cocktail de camerones - the small size ($7) was chock full of real shrimp (not the tiny canned ones) and reasonably tasty, but not great (it's a good healthy choice, though)Service at lunch is by one non-English-speaking person, who also runs the cashier and makes the drinks and some of the cold dishes. Luckily, there were only a few other customers, so the wait time was not too bad for me.I might come back and try some more items, knowing that I can rely on at least a couple of the Antojitos Mexicanos.

I ask my aunt in Houston about good Salvadoran food and she told me go to el papaturro. If you look at the outside,it's pretty bad but once you are inside is pretty good. The Pupusas are the best, they are so tasty and good. The chicharron is riquisimo. The cheese and loroco pupusas are great also. Another plate that's good is salpicon. Hope you enjoy it.

Voy a volver por mi dinero si no me regresan tendré que llamar a health department

Huge carne pastetillos (beef empanadas) for cheap. Loved them soooo good. Amazing flavor in the steamed Salvadoran chicken tamales too. They also have vegetarian elote (corn ) tamales. Love those moist tamales! Fair pricing
