Prelude Coffee & Tea

Small quiet coffee shop tucked into the corner of one of the office buildings. Easiest entrance is at fannin and capitol corner. Prices are normal, maybe a bit low for the area, and coffee was good and fast. Plenty of seating at noon, unsure how it fares with the morning rush. Good for a quiet afternoon cup though!

Super cool atmosphere! It was difficult to find but the coffee was smooth. Just a large building where it's located on first floor !

The place is gorgeous marble counter tops with elegant gold touches. Their coffee, specifically their vanilla latte was not good. Was not a fan of the vanilla that they used and the coffee itself tasted weak. Would not return if you want good coffee go to Boomtown!

I didn't experience great service which definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. The cashier was very short with me and seemed annoyed when answering my questions about the menu. I ordered a small geeen tea which for some reason costed more than a cappuccino. IThe best part about this place is the Morning Star donuts!they were awesome !

One of the better drip coffees downtown! But they close at 3 pm!I visited Prelude to catch up with a friend. I unfortunately did not check the timing, and by the time I made it to the counter, they had begun to shut down the espresso machine. I had only planned to get drip anyway, which they provided. Service was efficient, but not particularly friendly. Oh well. I'll take a lot of attitude for a decent cup of coffee! The drip coffee is good, and on par with the likes of Amille's, Honeymoon, Inversion, Siphon, etc. The space is really cool. Not only can you sit in the actual shop, but it is open to the humongous lobby of the newest building in downtown. There are some lovely modern couches that are begging to be sat in after your coffee is ordered. Generally, 3 pm is when I need my last little bump of caffeine, so I had to take a star away for that.

Came here for the first time this morning and ordered a potato, egg and cheese taco. Got to my desk at the office and unwrapped my beautiful taco, all excited to dig in because come on, who doesn't love a solid breakfast taco.Turned out they gave me one with sausage in it, and I don't eat meat. I don't care how fancy your coffee shop looks. If you get my hopes up by handing me a glorious breakfast taco that I've been dreaming about all morning, and then it turns out I can't even eat it, you're dead to me. Call me crazy but I believe we should all live in a world where we can feel safe and comforted in the knowledge that the taco we are handed is, in fact, the taco that we ordered.The coffee was pretty decent, but honestly if they can't even get a simple taco order right then I'd rather just drink the swill from the office coffee pot and spend my money elsewhere when I'm craving a breakfast taco (which, let's be real, is pretty much all the time).

The atmosphere is very high end, with a large, white marble counter and ample seating. The space itself opens up into a reception area for the building that makes the place seem very comfortable and large. The cortado had a bit too much foamed milk, which diluted the coffee a bit and left me wanting something a bit stronger. The coffee itself was pretty neutral, with some chocolatey notes. They are affiliated with Blacksmith and Morningstar if you like those places. It was a pleasant experience and I would come here again to relax and talk or work. I didn't see any outlets while I was there if that is important to your studying and working.

Prelude is a fantastic spot from the Greenway Coffee/Morningstar team! The shop is in the lobby of 609 Main building which is so swanky and fancy; the building itself is worth a trip alone. I work a block away and am so happy to have found Prelude!Prelude offers the same delicious coffee that Greenway offers; I don't know who makes the coffee, but it's about 1000% better than Starbucks. They take delivery of fresh Morningstar donuts every morning and they are outstanding! I love the cinnamon cake donut -- it's one of the best donuts I've ever had (yes, better than Shipley's!). The baristas are friendly and the space is beautiful to sip your coffee or have a meeting. Highly recommended!

The coffee was good and the to-go sandwiches I got were tasty as well. A quick place to stop in when downtown for work or play! It is a cute little area as part of the larger building.

Texas and honey latte is great . Not too sweet. Heresy latte art too. Good atmosphere. I'm out of word don't wanna say more. Can I post now?
